How to flip cars (UK) - MG ZS 120. Quick flip ebay purchase!
Welcome to the @Cars 'N' Stuff channel where we're starting off our RU-vid journey to try and showcase how we buy and sell cars.
In this video, I'm showing how I prep, clean, paint and detail this little 2003 MG ZS 120. I've also bought a 2005 Volvo V50 2.0 Diesel that requires a but more work so I'll be posting a another video of that at a later stage.
I originally purchased it from ebay for £550 but it only needed a couple of things doing to it as it's a very clean example. The total I was in it for was just over £700. All that was required was a service and fuel - and that's it!
I posted it for sale for £1,650 and accepted an offer of £1,500 - a quick profit of just under £800 - more than doubling what I was in it for!

Great video mate, when mot checking a car at what point do you walk away when you see certain advisory's? I'm finding it hard to source a car in a somewhat decent condition that isn't priced at retail price, once I give an offer I'm usually told, "thanks, but no." straight away.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. I usually don't consider any cars that mention corrosion as that'll be the most costliest to fix. Anything else is usually pretty easy to fix. If there's a long list of advisories then I'd also leave it unless the owners got proof of having them rectified. Hope this helps 👍

Hi, I wanted to ask how do you deal with the logbook? Whats the whole process? and how do you deal with customers, what do you say when a customer asks how long youve had the car for or why your selling it?

Hi, you just fill out the trade slip on the v5. This can be done by posting it off ot doing it online between 7am and 7pm. In relation to telling customers, just br honest and explain you buy and sell cars. Most private sales usually have a reason they're selling their car but when I sell a a car, all major faults have been rectified and it should look in tip top condition. I hope that helps 👍

Hi just subscribed to your channel. Great contents and I am interested into car flipping. Regarding to your calculation to profit? Do you not need to insure your cars until it is sold? Unless I don’t understand something?

Hi, thanks for the comment. In order to flip cars on a regular basis, you need to obtain trade insurance where you can add any car to your policy rather than taking out a separate policy for each car. So I don't include that in my profit calculations as it costs around £1,000 a year (roughly £50 a car if 20 a year are sold). I hope that helps 👍

hi mate. i wanted to ask whether its possible to get motor trade insurance without having a registered business with the gov?

Hi mate. You don't need a business, you can just be registered as self employed 👍

If you're only doing one or 2 here and there and you're putting the v5 in your name etc then no, but if you're selling a few a month like me then yes. Just set aside 20% of your profits from each car and you'll have no trouble paying taxes etc

Lovely thanks for that. So how do I sign up for BCA? Do I register myself as self employed and do I need trade insurance?

@andyparks254 you'll need to obtain trade insurance first to prove that you're a trader. You'll just need your insurance schedule sheet to send off to BCA. The more you buy at BCA, the more discount you'll receive on fees as you'll climb their card scheme (silver, gold, black etc) - details are on their website
