Thank you, excellent video! Changing the fluid was a breeze with such clear instructions. My 4 y/o son was happy to help me to start and stop the engine while I was pouring the fluid. My car had the red ATF fluid in when I bought it (the P2 V70 needs GREEN fluid) and the pump started making noise already. Fortunately it's silent again after putting the right fluid. Thanks again!
This was brilliant. My 05 V70 steering was horrible and jerky, this fixed it. One thing to note, the return pipe on mine attached at the bottom of the reservoir, so like a fool I disconnected it and the new liquid poured out as I refilled it. Solved this by just holding my thumb over the input connection as I flushed it…..
Great video. Just flushed my 04 xc70. I would just emphasize that you WILL need to cycle the steering wheel many times from stop to stop. There will be some air in the system even with a perfect pour into the reservoir as the car runs so even a few seconds.
Hello. How should I go about flushing the power steering system since previous owner has put red atf fluid in power steering instead of the green stuff. Drain what I can as you showed and keep adding new fluid until it runs nice ang green?

Thanks for the video. I have a 2004 V70 2.4 litre B5244S, what kind of power steering fluid should I buy? The manual says ATF but the stuff in the system now is greenish like yours, not red.
Great video. Planning to try this soon on my 2008 v70 where the steering is heavy and the current fluid black! Any idea how much was used for this flush? Thanks

By empty, do you mean pump as much fluid out as possible before adding any new in? My thinking is pumping the fluid out until the pipes and rack are empty will leave behind some dirt, so instead I'm thinking of following the video but just using rack as a pump like you said. So while I'm getting the fluid out I'm adding the new fluid in so the reservoir never goes empty. And continue adding new fluid until it comes out clean. Because I think the flow of the old then new fluid will take out/stir up some of the sediment/contamination vs emptying the system entirely then refilling. And I suppose there will be less air in the system.
@@1AAuto Thanks. VIDA shows me there is a special "rinse tool 9997433" required ($400 from Volvo) and an "update kit 9997480" but i think you don't need these at all and can do it with other regular tools.
Just once I wish the thumbs down actually said something.... It's like "what do they know?" But it's probably more like "I was watching furryies, why did this flag up?"
