Check you COOLANT SPECS before replacing it. Use TAP water for flush, and ideally DEMINERALIZED water for the new mixture.

Yesterday I was looking for a “how to flush” but can’t find on Giulietta… You’re just in time !

The heater cores in the Giulietta are prone to clogging. If yours has really weak heating performance and the usual suspects of faulty servos have been checked then you can also drop off the two heater core hoses on the left rear of the engine and back-flush with a garden hose. Just don't overdo the water pressure. In our case we attached clear hose so that we could see what came out and it was a combination of casting sand & what looked like mud and bits of black silicone. Flush in both directions through the core until it's all clear, then re-attach hoses, refill and bleed. Best done with a full coolant flush per the video.

Thanks for the tip. I've dealt with that issue quite a few times, I think I did the video with the garden hose when I flushed the heater core on 147. I also encountered the same issue on Giulietta, but on my car it is only slightly worse, that's why I acted before it clogged completely

I’m going through this with my 2010 G 1750 at the moment. Bought it recently with zero heat coming out. Did coolant flush and heater matrix flush the amount of crap that came out was ridiculous. I’ve probably now got 30% efficient heaters which I’m still not happy with so going to do it all over again 😂

I would repeat the process, also the trick with garden hose does wonders. It's all good until the heater core goes out, it is a nightmare to replace

@@arcgarage Unfortunately I can see myself having to replace the core. Hoping I can get it good enough for this winter at least 😂

@@tjshill82 Yeah, it's quite bad having no heat in the winter

I hope you used distilled water to fill it up. Regular tap water contains minerals and may cause in long term use problems like corrosion even if you mixed it with coolant concentrate.
@arcgarage
@arcgarage 3 дня назад
Use the tap water for flushing, demineralized water for the mixture. However, rarely do mechanics use demineralized water for the mixture just to be clear, that's from my experience both in US and Europe.

Great job. On 2 L diesel engine bleeder valve is on top right engine. Did you use normal tap water for the cleaning and then the antifreeze mix? If so, shouldn't you be using demineralized water?

@@arcgarage Tap water can be very damaging but poor quality coolant can be worse. Sometimes I'm a bit perfectionist and in this case I would use demineralized also for flushing because some of it remains in the system. Or at least 2 flushes with tap, 3 with demineralized. It's an extra 8-10 euro expense for 25 liters of water but I think it might worth it. Also, if possible, removing the thermostat while flushing might be helpful in some cases/car types.

Bro where was this video 2 weeks ago 😭 Only took me 15 minutes to figure out how to drain it but still, would've been nice to see how it was done beforehand. The mechanic wanted to charge me $600 because "it takes 3 hours to drain the radiator" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@arcgarage
@arcgarage 3 дня назад
Yeah, mechanics sometimes try to overcharge for the simplest things

I was just wondering, did you manage to use all the 6L of mixed coolant? How did you get all the pure water out? If there was any water left, then the mix in the system wouldn't be exactly 50/50? Sorry for the stupid questions, I need to do this on my 159 and I don't know what i'm doing haha
@arcgarage
@arcgarage 3 дня назад
On Giulietta you can drain 95% out, so the remainder is not going to make much difference

Hi there, you seem to have installed a wider battery than I have. I've also got the 1.4 T-Jet. What type of battery is this and which parameters does it have? Thanks a lot in advance! 🍀

Hi, I'll check the specs, when the last battery died, I just grabbed the one laying around in the garage

A few important mentions to add: - use DISTILLED water, not tap water at the final step. For flushing is ok the tap water. - use THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS coolant!! They are different! Some use GREEN, BLUE, ORANGE or PINK! Read the manual!! For example, the Alfa 159 needs a specific one, otherwise you'll have problems! - change coolant after 2-3 years of use

True, added, but keep in mind that when working on your car you have to lead by logic

Sorry for asking different question on this video, my Alfa 147 2005 is beeping after engine is turned off and key is unpluged...beeping like when you open a window or do another command. The beeps are at random intervals, sometimes it beeps 3 times in a row and pauses for 10 seconds, and beeps again after that...do you know the cause od the beeps?

My car emptier the battery after 2-3 hours, the battery is new and i found it strange so i stayed in the car for like 30-40 minutes and those beeps didnt stop ...
