How to fly an Antonov AN2 ~ Scenic flight with an Antonov AN2 in the cockpit 

Not many people know this - That big fan in front is actually only used to keep the passengers cool.. The small prop in the cockpit is the thing that makes all that racket and maintains the thrust. The Russians really know how to design a fun airplane. Love this thing! Keep the smiles coming.

Got to love the Annie. AN2 is a respectable aircraft gracing the skies for over 75 years. Well engineered, simple, sturdy, strong albeit a bit slow it has given reliable service all this time, all over the world. A true legend!

Surprinsingly low vibrations, and the engine sound is ...pleasant to me. Engine indestructible. And so is mainly the entire plane. Super short take off and landing distances, basically able to land by by istself if the pilot fall asleep. If it stalls, it falls to ground at the speed of a parachute. And that´s the procedure stated in the manual, in case of engine failure with cero visibility, pull the handle and wait. Able to cruise at 200 km/h in stages of 900 km. (560 m) with 15 passengers and cargo aboard, at any time. direction or road condition. Top speed about 260 km/h if needed. Tell me how many buses or trains can do the same.

Amazingly the Chico (California) Air Museum has one of these at the airport. It is not flying, just sitting outside. It is complete; but the canvas needs work. Really big, in Aeroflot colors.

Pretty good forward view for a tail dragger. The only planes I have ever flown myself were a Cessna 150 and a Piper Cherokee........Oh would I Love to get a hold of one of these babies.

I did see that the two Manifold Pressure gauges were working, as well as the clock. Maybe an ammeter? :) Believe the Attitude Indicators were caged. AN-2, a great airplane.

Great airplane. Nice airco :) You can see the russian artificial horizon works just the other way. Horizon stays in place, plane figure moves. What is that yellow box for on top of the panel? The pilot touches it one in mid flight.
