You get a sign up bonus for certain Amex cards after you spend a required amount. For example, if you get an Amex Gold card and spend $6k in 6 months, you can earn a 60,000 sign up bonus + whatever points you get for your purchases. That could easily equal around 76k points
76000 Amex points means you spent at best spent 15,200 USD (5 points x 1 dollar spent on airlines and hotel). So if we follow your math….you spent 15,200 dollar on an upgrade that would have cost 5000 dollars roundtrip if you just saved and bought with cash…..
Odd math. It is not like he is throwing away the 15k. He definitely bought stuff with it that he would have bought anyways and then used this method to enjoy a cheaper business class flight.... He did not spend 15k on his Amex for the flight obviously
Not true, you paid economy class, your flight in economy was probably 1k, so add the 760 for the upgrade thanks to the points... Plus u gotta pay fees, yes u didn't tell them about the fees that u can't pay with points but just ur money... So very lack of information u provide to make it look so nice
They always say it's a "secret" but we all know it has to do with miles and credit cards points. As someone who hates to owe money to whoever it may be including banks, I prefer the hard way to achieve this, never gonna buy a credit card in my life.
I did not like business class when I had to travel for work. Many old people and boring. I like people watching. On the plus side, it was easier to herd my coworkers if we were sitting in a lounge than at a busy airport hall.
I don't like wasting money on business class. Why pay 2000$ more for just a few hours of social status glamour which I don't care about? About comfort I'm sure it's more comfy than economy but come on it's just a few hours.
Rich people are in first class. Business is for business execs and other related people. My friend made less than 30k a year at some fancy bank, and they flew him around constantly in business class internationally. (keep in mind he lives in New York, so 30k a month is not much at all there)
