Yea bent stuff the wrong way, sawed it the wrong end, twisted it the wrong way, hit too hard, hit it too soft, set fire to it, shorted it out, dropped it, had a leak. Situation normal😀😀😀😀
Repeating lots of other comments, but great to see you back on the Tube Trev, we all miss you dearly. Yeah, both tough and strange times just now, hope you resolve all your issues and come out the other side.
Trev, hi from USA, same here, life is not what it used to be. Anyway, I completed my first major body repair, a full rocker rebuild including new inner flange, mid flange to existing but rotted off "ribs", and a patch panel outer rocker. I was using a bead roller to bend over the 18 gauge metal, but only got about 30 degree bend and bent the rest with angle iron. I liked using the bead roller but too bad it was limited. Thanks for the idea of using an air chisel. My shoulders have been aching from all the abuse they get. You are like a friend I've never met in real life because your amazing good nature comes over in your videos and your talent is amazing. [So good to see this video so related to the job I just finished.]
Sorry about the problems you guys are facing over there, I sympathize. Your work is, as always, top notch. Love the video montage at the end. Cheers from the U.S.
What a great tip Trev - I've never thought of using my air chisel set for such an application - thanks, I will try it in future instead of an engineers hammer!
Trev thanks ever so much for this one. Its came at a great time for me. Good luck with your business and your workshop. Already looking forward to your new vides
I have tried to come up with a plan to make retainer channels for weatherstrips for a loooong time. I'm currently restoring and doing a video series of a tractor cab and the crusty leftovers of the retainer channels has been used to spice up my dinners lately. Nothing beats rust-pepper hehe I have searched the entire internet 200 times for a solution to make those channels and......nothing. BUT I think I have been too focused on finding an easy method. My metal brake is a cheap one and almost impossible to use so I discarded that idea. I abandoned the retainer-channel fabrication but then.....RU-vid told me I REALLY had to watch this this video. Now I have found the right inspiration to make these and I'll be sure to give you credit for it and also I will surely subscribe to your channel. Thank you so much for this good tip and I hope your arm will heal and become good as new. Have a great day :)
@@trevsblog Thank you so much for trying to help :) Sorry about the late reply. The flu has been visiting the last week. I have emailed you with a couple of images and some links. Hope to hear from you. Cheers :)
👍much respect for the mad skills my friend! Sorry about the elbow. I have the same thing. Here's to peace, love, kindness, and good health around the world. ❤️
How did I not get a notification for this video??!! I made sure Trev that all your videos notify me immediately.. and yet it failed me.. Awesome video Trev! Glad to see you back in action.. 👍 Cheers!
Trevor it's great to see you. I always enjoy your videos. This one is a great example of helping us with options. See you again. And yes the UK is in a shit storm. Here in Canada we're heading into a major economic recession. This reason is just one reason for us to be able to work in our little or big shops and keep faith.
Welcome Back Trev. Been a bit of a while. Handy little tip again for quick sections. I have seen others on YT use similar for forming beads in floor and firewall panels using a rounded end chisel shaft. and a steel or Hardwood form plate with the depression. So versatile.
That's a great use for an air hammer. I'm a mechanic, so I have a few air hammers and those flat bits as well. Tennis elbow, Ugh! I had minor tears in my elbow tendos from repeatative mechanic work. I had therapy sessions to repair it and avoid surgery. What worked for me were theraputty, resistence bands, hand twist exercise bars, and Granston tools. The Graston tool especially, because it massaged the area with a scraping technique which also broke the internal scar tissue allowing it to heal. I used stationary exercise bike with my arms to warm the muscles (10 min.) Then did various exercises. Each session ended with a 10 minute ice pack, or graston tool scraping.
Great tip, remember lots of us haven't a clue!! Crisp line, I have similar air chisel used for bearings ect, real world I find not amazing, however if I would replace would be something else, I lend a Chicago pneumatics (CP logo'd no affiliation!) Way less vibration and so much more power without noticing, knocks seized bearings with ease 😏😁 Great video Trev, I'm happy with short simple tips
Thanks for the instructional video. I have a project that will come in handy for. As for your tennis and golfers elbow I was wondering if you have ever heard of using DMSO? It's a liniment used mostly on farm animals and pets. I think most of us are some form of animal or another. I've used it on several occasions over the years with great success of pain relief for the treatment of tendonitis and sprains. I learned about it through a veterinarian girlfriend. I've recommended it to friends over the years and they've had great success also. Do your own thorough research. Thanks again for the videos they're greatly appreciated.
Well it's great to hear that I'm not the only one who bends stuff the wrong way! Great to see some more content mate. Sorry to hear that things aren't going so well for you over there. Best wishes to you and Birdie 😎
I use my aircraft air rivet hammer to do the same as the anvils are nice and smooth already. It's Ok I use one that's already beat up... It's basically the same tool but it's allot easier to tease the trigger for better control. Works great on door skins too. As for the box brake I look at it every time I'm at one of our tool stores and can't justify buying one or the large amount of space it takes up. I still kick myself for not buying a 48" box brake for $100 locally that was new but out of the box...
@@trevsblog Yeah it was bad timing on that deal. They run around $800 ish for a 48" and $380 for a 24". The store here had the 48 on clearance 2 years ago for $350 and I still passed it up. They were freeing up inventory space but at that time it was $500 new. Grr inflation... I'd bring one over and save you a few $ but I think it might be a hare heavy to bring as checked luggage..
Trev, I'd love to spend a few weeks with you learning the craft. Your skills are absolutely amazing! I've just started learning how to tig weld, fabrication side next.
Hiya Trev great video às always Very interesting and helpful excellent content keep up the great work best wishes to you and Tracy ♥️ love both channels and the baking bird
Another great video Trev good to see you back, your so right I have been bending metal all me life and still sometimes fold it the wrong way it so easy to do.
Great to see you are well keep watching your old van videos great videos and what better than two angle irons that's how I bend my metal so useful I had plans to make one should have another lock down to have time Ja,ja( noooo chance) and just realized while you held the air chisel at the end....... That you would make a great James Bond. Ji,ji,ji look forward to see more of your expertize in the future keep well
Great bit of advice. Would work well if you needed to do a fold longer than a folder if you had six foot of angle and a load of clamps. Lovely that you end with thoughts for everyone out there.
Yes precisely, you can make a fold any length you like and what’s more that fold doesn’t have to be in a straight line, it could have cutouts and curves etc. extremely versatile. Thanks Trev 👍
Works unbelievably well. I held a lever under the lower arm and gave the hub a short blast and the ball joint popped right out and it was solid! Thanks 👍
I suffered from golfers and tennis elbow along with carpal tunnel issues. I used a Powerball and after a week the symptoms started improving to the point that now I generally don't have any problems - if I do, a few days of Powerball sort it. If you get one don't go for maximum speed. 10 seconds one rotation and the 10 seconds the other way, then swap hands several times, twice a day.
That makes a lot more noise than my sheet metal brake 😝 Great solution, especially for boxed corners where a normal brake won't work and box brakes are $$$.
That's brilliant Trev! I know what you mean about the dodgy elbow, got the manky wrist that goes with it. I must say, the UK is getting as bad as Australia with the revolving door at No. 10!
Thank you for taking the time to share the hammer trick. The short throw hammer is not a good solution, so I would be interested to know if any have tried this with a medium throw hammer.
Good to see you still putting out great content. Would love to see the sill repair on the Ka. Hope things pick up for you. Van is still looking magnificent, as are the cakes! Best wishes!
Really good to see you again Trev. If I were your MOT guy I'd fail you every time if it meant you making more videos'. Maybe that's his agenda too. 😅 I haven't forgotten that Bedford van brochure I promised you. I just can't seem to find where I placed it. My wife has this terrible affliction to "tidy me up" wherever I put things. I've a suspicion it might be in the loft. But I will get it to you. Regards Tony.
Good to see a new vid from you Trev! Had never thought of using an air chisel like that, will have to keep it in mind for future projects. So you had a little bit of rust on a sill and that was enough to fail the MOT test? I've heard that MOT tests over there are really strict. Over here in the US the majority of states don't require ANY annual auto safety inspections, believe it or not!
Trev, have a look around for an Aircraft Rivet Gun, Far more control then the Sealey chisel. They are rated in sizes from 2X to 6X, for what you are doing a 3 or 4x would be fine. I use a 4x for hammer form work, with steel.
I don't play golf or tennis and have the same problem ... I'd be lost without my 3-in1 bender/shear/slip but I don't run air in my shop the CNC makes enough noise. Interesting use of a planisher though. Yes things are looking iffy all over, but so easily solved but that's content/comments for other channels. Keep pushing forward. The elbow for me turns out hours/decades of working on a PC using a mouse would you believe.
Thanks for the reminder, Trev. Using an air chisel/air hammer/rivet gun for metal forming is a great idea, but if used all the time can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome in your palms and/or wrist problems. Use it sparingly and be aware of your bodies warning signs lest you damage yourself. It took me ten years to recuperate back to 75%. We are but frail humans.
