8:30 - 9:14 was soooo difficult for me to figure out. On my third model attempt, I finally got it. And notice the hand at 9:12? Lol

I think he put together this particular paper. It appears to be a sandwich of aluminum foil (the common stuff) and crumpled paper (also called VOG paper or something similar). Getting crumpled paper may be tricky depending on where you live, but using a thicker mulberry paper with foil would give comparable results and would also age better.
