The most concise and straight forward formwork video I’ve found, already was a fan of the channel, but I’m taking on my first 36’x60’ slab, and this was what I needed to see!

Awesome job breaking this down for those who might not know how it works, especially breaking down the math, which some people don't often realize it a big part of construction. Math is everywhere. Really goes to show you that kids really need to stay in school and get that education. You can't get thru life without that education. Great Job!

I knew this video would come in handy. I am in the foundation repair industry and also do lots of flat work. Recently a friend of mine asked me to pour a foundation for him so I am breaking ground today. I am walking into this like I know what I’m doing in front of my guys thanks to this video. lol Thank you for that Erik!!

Best video I’ve seen! I’m learning how to build a small she shed 10x12 and I just can’t get that square foundation. You are so detailed and now I know what to do. The math you taught me was perfectly what I’ve been searching for. I’m in Colorado and now I have to wait until spring, but I can make my plans accurately according to your methods. Munches gracias 🙏🏽 btw, I’m very involved in this little build only using my brother for extra hands. I want the experience and watching your videos I’m more confident. 👍🏽 I’ll be working on a small green house, I’ll search for footer videos next. Enjoy the Colorado weather in Texas 🥶 Janet

Texas Barndominiums my dads been doing concrete here in texas for over 50 years, its his specialty, ive been doing it for nearly 10-12 years and trust me when I say ive never seen anybody form a house up or set the house square with a calculator, we use 2x6 all the way around and a brace from the top of the stake into the ground, normally when we use a 2x6 as a brace, what happens is the concrete will push that form out and create a lump on the side of the house, its a good way, but I would never form a house using the plywood form you do ! Not saying your not good, I just woudnt do it that way !

I just had a Concrete guy install a 22'x22' Foundation for a steel Garage, I said its important that it's exactly 22'x22' because the aluminum sides go down over the edge of the foundation, its also very important it is Square, Concrete guy showed me a tape and It looked square before pour, but when Garage installers came, they sat the metal Box tube on sides and measured, the Foundation is 3" out of square, 2 corners would overhang 1.5" and 2 would sit on top of the foundation 1.5" in and the siding could not overlap letting water pool and possibly run under the Wall into the garage, Also while they sat the metal tubing on the edge you could see a large dip in the concrete, I had also said I want it perfectly flat and smooth, I was going to epoxy cover it after installation of the garage. QUESTION: Is there a way to fix this or does the Slab have to come all the way up? ... looking at yours, he just had some 2x10 boards with a few 2x2 Boards hammered in the ground.
@isaiastinoco3303
@isaiastinoco3303 3 года назад
We use 16' long 2x10s on our slabs but I'd have to say we loose about 30% to cuts and wrecking damage. How long are you able to use those plywood forms?
@caper104
@caper104 Год назад
You can reuse them just spray form oil to prevent the bond between the form and concrete.

I've been building foundations for 40 years. Building on flat ground is one thing. Building a structure on a 30 degree cross slope with 20'elevation gain and on rock, is another. I ALWAYS use batter boards, not a single stake. And ALWAYS keep any string 2" above all formwork. And burning a foot is good. But ONLY if communicated and understood by those handling the tape. Seen builders really suffer when "losing a foot" because of a misunderstanding.
