We pulled off the Project 150 to put in a few foundations. We'll be back to that job shortly.
This video is the 4th of a few that document the foundation process for 2 homes. These are both daylight or walk out basements. After determining grade, the excavating contractor digs down and blows out the site level. You'll see as we go, this job will have 10' poured concrete walls across the front and then step down to 2' walls in the back.
This video covers tying the footing steel (rebar) and also the J hooks. Those are vertical rebar with a bend, since they look like J, they are often called J hooks. Tying steel is very productive if you have a rebar tying gun. I'm using the ‪@MAXUSACORPTools‬ TwinTier. Tying in the J hooks or "verts" can be tedious, but I bought these Steel Mate rebar holders. Attach them once and then just reuse them. steelmate.com/

Please remember that I'm not showing the best way to form footings, but just the method that works well for us. Thanks for watching!
Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like RU-vid if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.com/secure/2458... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

I find it interesting that you guys use corner bars. Ive always run my bar past to make a mat in the intersection. Sort of tie all the bar together in the corners

Good job bending rebar for the corners, but there's small thing u can do to prevent spalling the inside corner--tie the inside corner to the outer bar, or in your case, at least the center bar. When the rebar is subjected to tension, the inside corner has tendency to spall (ask me how I know;-) You add only small amount of steel, but you improve wall.

Trying to fivure out wht that bar is so close together, j bolts and rebar are two different things, glad to atleast aee rebar. Some dont use it at all, id rather see overkill than underkill anyday. Looks good.

9:50 keep your laps longer than required and realize we are doing our job when we inspect, it’s not personal, it’s either we feed our family or you feed your’s …. Or we both see eye to eye and all families get fed

Hello @AwsomeFrames at the 5:39 minute mark, I see you placing the 2 x 2 rebar precut corners (Great Idea to order those) and fasting over and on to the corners and fastening it to the flat wall spacers on the top of wall??? Dont you want it lower into footing walls??? Maybe its just my perspective seeing, as I am not there and maybe the cameras ???
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers 2 года назад
yep, once all the bar is tied, we just pop the clips and lower the bar. Its easier to tie the dobies on when its up higher. Most of the 1x4 would be left un nailed or not there at all until the bar is dropped.

Hey I have a question 🙋‍♂️ It looks like you tied off all the horizontal bar while it was resting on top of the spreader cleats, is that right? So you removed and replaced the cleats one by one to let the assembly drop down? Did it shift as a result? Was that so you could work higher off the ground and save your back instead of tying it down low?

What kind of tie does the rebar gun do?

That auto wire tie would pay for itself in just a half dozen good sized jobs.

How deep are the footers and how many layers of rebar are needed if 1 ft deep?

Imo burning a foot adds way more chance for error than the 1/8” of variation it fixes… change my mind.

At 7:50, all your bar is on top of the cross pieces of the footing. Then magically at 10:30, all the bar is below the cross pieces. How did that happen? It looks like the wood cross pieces are nailed to the form boards too!

how come the rebar is only 1 layer? doesnt the bottom of the concrete need to have support of rebar too?

The rebar is in the bottom. It's spec'd 3" cover

@@AwesomeFramers what is spec'd 3? )
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers 2 месяца назад
@@jaykay308 3" cover is the amount of concrete between the rebar and ground as spec'd by the engineer. Since concrete is strong in compression but not in tension. That's why steel reinforcement is located near the bottom.
