that's pretty much how you do it in fwd and awd. rwd cars would spin out on max throttle application as shown in the video

fwd drifting is pretty much just the same Shift the weight, lift off, let the rears slide out and power back on. The fronts will pull the rears back into line

Gentle braking with a blip of heel and toe is the perfect way to stabilise the car while being able to pick up the revs as fast as possible - the one mistake to definitely avoid is turning in too hard or too fast. You want to ease it into the drift, not yank it in - otherwise youve compromised the balance of the car.

⁠@@neemojenkins8814 wheel drift can be performed by any drivetrain. It’s most common in AWD and RWD. “Drifting” is for getting a more extreme angle as you can through a corner while the 4 wheel drift is getting enough rotation of the car around the corner so that the car is pointed towards the exit earlier. You’re technically understeering with the front wheels while the car is pointed toward the exit.

Works well with audi's, Mitsubishis, and Subarus other cars either need work or just have too much traction. Super cars with all wheel drive can drift but there have to be a few adjustments.

It's not the fastest way through the corner... 4wd wheel drift is only fastest on non-tarmac surfaces like dirt/snow

Even then, it is often faster to take a proper line, and not slide. It is a lot more dangerous to do this though, and is why sliding is often used. Saving a second by cornering properly is only worth it if you're able to make it to the end of the track in one piece.

Exactly. The more downforce you have, and the more the diff and roll bar setup is circuit based - the more this technique becomes obsolete

From my experimentation i knew it was the fastest way to attack a corner, i'm glad i have this video to back it up. If you learn to shift and control the weight, and not oversteer or understeer you will be a fantastic driver

We do something similar in MTB except without the brakes. In flat, wide corners we'll let the tyres lose some grip and slide the bike through the turn before hooking the tyres into the dirt and carrying that speed into the next section. Done right it A) is fast as hell & B) looks fucking cool, double points if the trails are dry and dusty, bigger the cloud the bigger the style.

Ive always had trouble with wheel pressure on this technique And maybe the suspension tune too is a problem But everytime i do this it understeers badly from either low tire pressure or high tire pressure

This is in no way the fastest way around a corner. On a low grip surface, it may be the most predictable/ reliable way to position the car. But the fastest way around a corner will almost always be with full grip and proper racing lines, not sliding.

I remember sometime when i still had an xbox 360 and my left trigger were only applying around 60% or something similar, and i loved Forza 4 at the time, results? I had to adopt the 4 wheel drift and other weight transfer techniques into my arsenal because specially at hairpins i was exceptionally slow and it made me a better sim racer

Absolutely! 4 wheel drift just means that all 4 tires are making contact with the road surface with more or less equal weight distribution so that the car can essentially run at max speed through a corner since the 4 tires will grip better than a regular handbrake drift that forces all the weight to one edge of the car
