I personally struggled setting up this new front derailleur when I got it, but figured out a technique that I think will help quite a bit of you if you are going for the "neo retro" build with a vintage road bike frame, but want modern components. Also, let me know what you think of the 1991 Diamondback Master TG frame! Thank you for watching!

You're so right in that it needs small adjustments and trial and error with vintage bikes!!

Yep! Even rebuilding my Diamondback with the same components I had to do a little trial and error to get it working flawlessly again. Thank you for commenting!

Thank you for watching appreciate it! Yes I can’t wait to share how it rides because it’s seriously on another level for a vintage frame!

Forgot to mention, depending on your setup, your D ring may have to be a little tighter, or more loose depending on factors like your frame geometry, cable guide routing/type of routing, derailleur, etc.

Which rims are those? Thanks for the much needed infos reg. dt. shifters!

Appreciate the view and comment! The rims were the H Plus Son SL42. They were so fantastic. Tiny bit extra weight but lasted for YEARS. actually sold them and they still had the wear indicators and the brake track was still flat and not curved like really old rim brake tracks.

You had mentioned in another video that your seatpost was slipping, did you try a 27.2 instead of the 27.0 that the DB’s came with, I have one of those Pepto pink DB’s and a DB Prevail, I haven’t had issues with my seatpost

What's funny is I am super confident I solved it the other week! First I did try to stuff a 27.2 seatpost I had laying around and it just would not fit at all and I was really trying but eventually stopped to prevent damage. BUT I just had a gut feeling the black Uno stem I had in it might have been the issue rather than the frame because the frame is in such nice condition...So I had another silver Uno 27.0 seatpost laying around that wasn't being used and the seat post bolt didn't have to be tightened down as much by a long shot and it didn't slide into the frame as easy as the original Uno stem, it had way better friction compared to the original black Uno seatpost which almost used to just fall in. So in order to match the color scheme I ordered an origin8 seatpost 27.0 and it fit so well once again. Plus I added anti-seize/friction paste as well which also adds even more friction, but I think me changing the seatpost solved it.

Whats the seat tube size on this particular frame?
@newoldsteel

So from forums I found online they said 26.8mm. I bought a 26.8mm seatpost and it did not fit whatsoever. Then I bought a 27mm and it fits perfectly so idk what they were talking about. Thanks for watching!
