I was just thinking about frying some whiting, but I could never get it right with frozen filets. And then BAM...here you are to the rescue.😎. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏾
You are an amazing cook thank you so very much I had bought some frozen whitening fish and had cooked 2 pieces and it was disgusting 🤮. I cooked it your way and it was so delicious. I’m glad I watch you on RU-vid because I didn’t want to throw my fish away you know things are tough right now for people groceries and gasoline is expensive the struggle is real. I’m retired I turn 50 on October 6 I’m now a new loyal subscriber.😎😎😎
I'm so glad that this was helpful. Congratulations on your retirement and happy belated birthday 🎂. I have had some personal issues that hasn't allowed me make any videos lately but I plan on making more really soon.
@@staceybrown-louis6522 It came out perfect. Doesn't take much for me to be happy so i was really happy when i was done. And i didn't have to watch a 2 hr video.. lol Thank you so much
It's been a long time since I tried to fry up some whiting so I looked around for some tips to help me remember. After watching your video - I think I'll do a good job!
Thank you. I covered my cooked frozen fish with coconut cream to hide the disaster!lol I wanted crispy fish. Looked on the internet and found you! Liked and subscribed! Blessings to you. Amen
I'm so excited to try this your way! I'm definitely going to use the lemon. Hubs likes the fishiness and I do not. I accidentally bought whole frozen whiting one day and have no idea on how to cook a whole fish so I just youtubed how to filet it. Lucky me your video showed up Having hubs get some fish Fri now
Stacy , this was exactly what I needed as I bought frozen Whiting too! I am not going to use a batter, but like you did , just use my own seasoned self made flour and put it in Olive oil to fry. You gave me such confidence and I appreciate all you do for us!!! Keep going , thank you ~
So glad i found your video. It's very well done, o feel like I'm in the kitchen with you,, learning and now I don't have to feed the frozen fish to the coyotes. The first time I baked two with just some seasoning and they were AWFUL . I'm gonna try your method right now 😁
Wooooooo looks sooooooo delicious ♡♡♡. I'm thawing mine right now and plan to prepare like you did. I hope you are doing well 💗. You're a very nice, calm lady♡
Looks delicious. I can’t do the fish fry rub as it looks as it is flour based. In other fish recipes they soak up excess water with paper towels. Your method of pressing the fish to release the water into the pane saves on paper towels. 👍
@@staceybrown-louis6522 ooh okay, I forgot bougie people still exist lol My fish was frozen and I was hoping for a short cut. Thank you for the video 💗 (just subscribed 😊)
I woke up this morning to find 2 boxes of food that some idiot in my apartment complex just left by the elevators. I grabbed what I could at the moment because i had to go run my morning errand. When I retuned, the boxes we’re still there and I decided to do a thorough rummage through them and found some more items that I knew I would eat. Amongst them I found an unopened bag of(and I’m assuming)once frozen pacific whiting fillets. About a dozen strips the size of the ones in your video. I immediately became furious because wasteful people that have no concern for others or appreciate the abundance of food Americans have access to make my blood boil with rage. I thought to myself ‘wow, these fish were once swimming freely in the ocean, snatched up en masse, gutted, process, packed, etc on an industrial scale.. and then now they are going to end up in the dumpster’… I looked for an exp date and it was still good till 2023. I became even more angry… then I got a knife, opened the bag and to my surprise they still smelled completely fresh. So I took them and they are sitting in my sink ready to be fried up once I walk down to grocery outlet and get the same stuff you had. So I thank you for this recipe and I will be back soon to let you know how they turned out.
You’re courageous 😂. No way I’d touch it, might have been thrown out because the fridge lost power when they were away.. or anything weird..maybe they use them as an ice pack, and they’ve been in and out of the fridge/ freezer hundreds of times..
I watched your video , because i purchased the same thing you cooked , a bag of frozen whiting with the skin on , please tell me was the fish mushy inside after you cooked it ? And does the skin create a problem when eating it , like chewy toughness ? I have had lots of fresh caught whiting when i lived in NJ , and was always delicious, but now in KY , there is only frozen seafood , thanks for your video , i think i am ready to give it a go , Exceptional cooking lesson !!!!
I will say that I do the same thing that you do until a certain step. I do not like the skin on a fish if it’s filling I do not want to skin so what I do is take it out of the freezer and wait for the tips to get a littledivorce it that I just simply pulled skin off this excellent but thank you for what you’re saying because that’s exactly how I do my fish
Love it. You answered all my question. The only thing I did different was squeeze the water out of the fish. I have a plastic cutting board that I placed in the sink on a downward angle. Then used one paper towel and squeeze the water out. Also didn’t have cooking oil, but had crisco vegetable lard? Came out good and you removed my fear of cooking frozen fish.
Another this is you can lay the fish on wax paper paper lined in the aluminum pan and then put paper on top of each layer and let it sit it will pull out a lot of the water
Really appreciate your experience; I was using alot of paper towels and not pressing down to drain the water. The tip of 🍋 lemon to reduce the fishy taste and enhance the taste. E x p e r I e n c e!
Caype gourmet fish is terrible. Disintegrates in oil. Some areas it’s difficult finding fresh fish or better brands. Great American or wholly brand is much better but harder to find
The water is too hit or miss and too much attention is needed. For one you absolutely need to change the water halfway thru to keep it cold. You do not want fish sitting in room temp water even if the center is frozen. The other issue you stated which is you have to get it out soon as its defrosted. It really only takes 3 hours to defrost in the fridge without water. That is the safest and highest quality method. If you son have to use the water method for time reasons then your pressing technique is a great idea. I've actually never seen that. I've always put it on something like a wire grill rack to air dry with salt on it to get the water out. I don't think that your press method is good for all types fish personally. I wouldn't try it with salmon for example or with skinless filets of any kind. You'd ruin the filet imo
