How to complete the fuel tank tuck in full detail for 99-04 JGC WJ. In this video, we'll show you how to reinforce the metal plate that replaces the factory wheel well by using a bead roller, how to properly weld it into place, how to sleeve the frame so that the fill hose can be passed thru, and how to make mods to the fill neck and which one works better than others. Finish it off with reinstalling the EVAP system, reinstall the bumper cover and paint.

Martinbuilt: The rolling process is called “stress bending” as to apply stress so the flat cover doesn’t flex. I mean no disrespect to you just wanted to say what the application of Stress Bending is called. Always watching your videos your the best on youtube for explaining each step you are doing and all tools including bolt sizes as you do the job. Again Martin I meant no disrespect in telling you the process you did by rolling stress bends in the plates to stop any flex which can make noise. As always a great finished job thank you Martinbuilt.

@@martinbuilt I have always looked down in this area below my jeep and from a little distance back and always thought to myself "man that gas tank looks ugly, I wish I could hide that" never knowing that this was possible. Lord I wish I could perform this on my jeep. You should see my skid plate, it's laughable. there is a hole in it the size of a basketball and others you can just reach thru and touch the gas tank. Too much rust... Its bad.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! What a clean, neat, professional, nice, beautiful job you did!!! I wish I could have you do a few things on my Jeep ZJ. I had never had a jeep before, but I have an Isuzu Trooper 1988 4cyl straight stick. Due to health conditions, I could no longer drive it. I had to have an automatic. My son's friend had a car for sale and my only question was "is it automatic?", he said yes, I said sold, sight unseen!!! I got it for a song and did a lot of work to it replacing nearly everything, even installed a new headliner. It runs like a dream!! It looks great and I can go in it by myself!!! I never knew a jeep could be so much fun. Having problems now with the PCU/cables plugging into it. So, I have to stand on a tire laying on its side to be able to reach what I need to. Anyway, that was a great video, I just loved it!!! Factory looking job!!!

Glade I didn't have EVAP to tinker with! I just cut that sucker flush, traced the tire cover onto some ⅛ steel and cut it out. Raptor lined and then drilled it every 3½ around the edges and used some self taping screws and silicone to secure it. I cut frame and welded a 3" exhaust in it and plumbed it all back together... But the new 4.0 I just bought has that stupid evap so this looks like it would be worth all the extra to save room for that to be tucked later.

Trent I’m not jumping in on him, but over heating a 4.7 is almost certain death. The break down of the tappets and dropping rockers is almost guaranteed. It’s very much fixable, but plan for tappets, timing chain, rockers, and head gaskets. I recommend a chain soon after 200k but seen oem go 300k

The aluminum filler neck and vent, if you install it 180 degrees from how it’s supposed to go in (upside down) trim 2.5-3.5 inches off your filler and vent neck side (not the hoses) you don’t have to cut and run ur lines threw your unibody just saying already went threw this months ago.

@martinbuilt

The spare tire holder does add some structural integrity one of the reasons I didn't eliminate it all together and why I added rolled beads to the steel plate and welded it in 100% I feel the vehicle is much safer now that the gas tank is tucked up under the vehicle more and doesn't expose it as much as it did before to a rear impact. @dshepard3161
@dshepard3161 4 года назад
If you have the overland with the 30/44 combo you likely have LSD's (come's with the Quadra-Trac 2), i wouldn't give them up as they are about the best factory axle set up on a WJ that you can get, mine is an 04 WJ Overland and that as I understand it was standard for that model however mine is Canadian, don't think it matter's. Not quite sure what the problem is but it sounds like either axle seals or cv boot's either way cheep parts that may be messy to replace but not hard for a tool user. BTW Nice job Martin

@@dshepard3161 Thanks for your comments friend, that's how it has LDS, I usually import the spare parts from Ebay to Chile, the problem is that the bleokeo of the axis is permanent, it is not released, it is practical in off-road but not in the city, some suggest me to change axles and put Air lock or electronic lock, and others suggest me to repair the LDS system, if the LDS is cheaper but difficult to find the repair kit, I don't know which one to choose
@dshepard3161
@dshepard3161 4 года назад
@@joseluisguajardo3732 Ah I see, my bad for assuming that you were in North America, "bleokeo" is not a word i understand, however from what you are saying it sounds like the diff is not disconnecting under normal driving conditions, if this is the case yes air lockers are an option however you may find it much cheaper to get a new set of viscose coupler's (clutches) for the factory unit's, they do require a diff oil that has an additive for friction however. I have to say that mine has only just rolled 220,000 km but I use her rough towing a trailer into the bush country/mountains of west Canada hunting. Never had a problem. As i do not have any idea how hard it is to import anything to Chile or what prices may be like i can only help as far as tech knowledge goes and your friends may be right about changing the factory LSD's out, but the D44 is un-stoppable up to 35" rubber in that weight class so don't dump it unless you have a direct drop in replacement, setting up new link's requires some experience.
