half a tank would save around 30 more lbs of weight than the exhaust did. with fuel weighing about 6.2 lbs per gallon and the tank holding 14.5 gallons... Though if you're going for fuel efficiency the opposite is true, you want to run from full to just about empty without putting any extra in. especially for gas engines where fuel vapors can escape more easily. i mean its not a significant difference, we are talking maybe 5-10 miles difference in a full tank of gas...

Or start running on the tread mill 3 miles daily , lose some body fat :D

Pete shea Anybody who gets and ECU tune knows you void the warranty. You pay to play. Also a DSG tune increases clutch clamping pressure. Kettle ... black. If you look into the history of this engine people have comfortably had 450 horse power out of these.

@@Stevo3032 Actually, plenty of people do NOT know that, based on personal conversations and posts I've seen. I never addressed the DSG as being as being problematic with tunes. It's the six speed manual's clutch that's the issue. I also never mentioned engine durability, though will note that the VW group's engineers specify substantial mechanical upgrades for factory engines that are even modestly more powerful than the GTIs. Do you think they're going that for no reason? Also, you may wish to consider taking a more respectful tone with mechanical design engineers (including engines) with more than 30 years of experience under their belt as well as multiple registered patents. REAL engineering is vastly different than what most car enthusiasts are even remotely aware of.

I thought that using the car on the track would void the warranty. Perhaps, once the car us out of warranty, there’s more freedom to tune. The box 📦 may be cheaper?

Akra exhaust, suspension, expanded body... for sure you will keep the warranty... it just look like full reverse changes are possible with 3 days of work and full body repaint....

That is true but unless this build is restricted by some rules there’s no reason to not upgrade to a 3” downpipe, a bigger intercooler and bigger turbo. With that we’re talking about 450bhp and this GTI would be much more interesting.

im not familiar with this vehicles intercooler, but the 1.8T and 1.9TDI side mount intercoolers should always be upgraded because they have are really pretty bad intercoolers often with issues of filling up with oil. while this is normal, there is no drain plug and eventually enough oil will collect in there and can potentially damage the engine...

You have to disconnect the battery to install. When reconnecting the batter all the systems go haywire. Has nothing to do with the mods and standard procedure for a VW car. I just went thru this with my car less than a week ago.

MeltingRubberZ28 lol. They faults will come back trust me I’ve worked on Audi/vw and Lamborghini got 16 years. Disconnecting the battery is a temporary band aid lol

Maybe you're not understanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying disconnect the battery to clear codes which it seems like that's what you're saying. I'm saying that when the battery is initially reconnected, while the systems are relearning, there are warning lights galore. Those go away within the first few minutes of driving though.

MeltingRubberZ28 I understand. Did you do work on this car? I’ve disconnected plenty of batteries and never had all those warning lights. Lol on vw the only ones that might be on if everything is working correctly is the epc and tpms light. That’s due to the steering angle sensor not being adapted. So it’s not due to the battery disconnecting lol
