Difference between the GOLF GTI and GOLF R are as follows: The R is different in these areas specifically engine. In other words both cars are great, golf R being the stronger engine. - Cylinder head (made from a different alloy compared to other engines in this module because of higher thermal stress). - Exhaust valves (hollow, higher Ni content, nitrided). - Exhaust valve seat rings (improved temperature stability and wear resistance). - Exhaust camshaft (adapted valve timings). - Compression ratio 9.3:1 with different pistons. - Piston cooling jets (higher flow rate). - High pressure injectors (even higher flow rate). - Bigger turbo, IHI IS38. - Charge pressures of up to 17.4 PSI (1.2 bar). - High performance main radiator with 1-2 auxiliary radiators (depending on country specifications) - Sound actuator (for the occupant cell) and active exhaust flaps in the exhaust system.

What a proper car looks really nice with the 5 doors. Not to over the top and sounds brilliant, top car you have there.

my scirocco is at about 300bhp (just over) at the moment, and it feels fucking fast, i used to have some fast beemers, fastest being a 645ci 4.4 and a 2011 pana 3.6 petrol - but honestly the rocco feels ' faster - so i cant imagine that

A few more important differences in the R version of the EA888 - "the cylinder head (together with exhaust valves, valve seats, and springs), pistons, high-pressure injection system, and turbocharger" are revised/upgraded from the GTI mill. The block is the same.

It's not the same engine in the R. There are different internals and different head. The engines are similar but not same. 👍 GTI clubsport has the R engine

I would've kept it 357 stage 2, then my next investment would def be LSD, then after that maybe go for around 390-400hp and that would be it power wise, but everyone is different, nice car overall.

The only drivetrain components shared between the Golf R and GTI is the transmission, block, crank and rods, the pistons, head/ valvetrain, fuel system, turbo, and intercooler are all different. And maybe the friction disks judging by how fast stock Rs chew through OEM clutches.

He mentioned wanting to combat the 500+ hp going through the front wheels by getting lightweight wheels. That will actually make the problem worse off the line as you'll get more wheel hop. Heavier wheels keep wheel hop in check off the line. BUT everything else will be improved with lighter wheels. Better ride, better handling, better acceleration and braking. I replaced my 29 pound Detroit wheels with 17 pound wheels and saw all the improvements above. Only downside is lighter wheels don't always ride over sharper impacts like cracks and potholes as well as heavier ones. Lighter wheels do a much better job on faster, undulating roads though.

PERFECTLY modified from a styling perspective. It still looks stock but has a little more aggression to it. I call it OEM+, like how a special GTI should look from the factory. Kudos my friend. Well done.
