My observations which will improve your teaching skills. Mouse is moving at lightning speed and you are speaking too quickly to follow. Presenters should slow down especially when describing new things. But thanks for your effort.
I use QGIS 3.22.3 to georeference a PDF trail map. Everything's fine, but I end up with a TIF file, which is quite big compared to the original PDF. I tried the Raster/Convert Format tool to get a GeoPDF from that TIF, but it contains no positions (the Geospatial Location Tool in Acrobat Reader can't find positions and Avenza tells me I'm off-map when I hike there). What's the trick?
Thank you for sharing, this was a great explanation! How do you inverse the georeferencing process? Distort the modern map to match the undistorted antique map.
Hello sir, Thank you for your videos they are very helpful for learning QGIS. I have a doubt, After opening Open street map using the external plugin. Is there some other way to reach desired location i.e using lat long or something? because dragging and finding a particular location is bit time involving process.
Only use linear. You cannot cheat and do a projection on the fly. The assumption is that the map is already flat and cover a small enough area to be linear.
Quick tip for anyone who doesn't find the Georeferencer menu entry (doing this in QGIS 3.10): Even though it is built-in, you still need to activate it through the plugins
Thanks, but from my experience in ArcGIS, more points is not better. The quality and distribution of them is most important. Your second one here was not so good. Even the first one
Having spent most of my time using programs like Excel and R, this program is phenomenal! Don't get me wrong, those programs are great, but the ease with which I've been able to learn QGIS to accomplish what I imagine is a not-so-easy-for-beginners task is INFINITELY better. No doubt possible only because of you and this excellent video. Thank you very, very much, sir!
Hi, we do not have a tutorial on this topic in our lineup of videos as of now unfortunately, however we will try to make a video explaining the methodology of assessing the CN using GIS techniques
When im starting the georefering process it comes with this Error: Could not create destination file. can anybody help me with that. im using version 3.26.2
Is this menu option gone in QGIS version 3.26.1-Buenos Aires? I dont see the menu dropdown option he uses in this video (and can't find it in Plugin Store), which has 4-6 reference points, versus the current plugin download (as of August, 2022) "Freehand Raster Georeferencer". Does anyone know?
Not sure I understand what you mean by "this menu option." If it's Georeferencer you're looking for, it's now under the Layer menu item. QGIS v3.26.3-Buenos Aires is the only version of QGIS I've downloaded, so I can't tell you if the change happened with v3.26.
