@@SheWhoDaresWins I don't mean it in the way that you think. I've been working in construction in the UK for over 15 years, prob more. The influx of economic migrants in to the UK is a negative for the people of the UK, because it pushes wages down. Basic economics: larger workforce=lower wages. Don't take that the wrong way, I have worked with Eastern Europeans and Sikh Indians, and they are great people, but their priorities are with their own people(rightly so), and their own country. They are here so they can be rich over there. Most of the money they earn here leaves our economy, which makes our currency devalue(capital outflow). Having said that, the UK is still the best place in the world to work in construction, our safety standards are the best. I recently did the SMSTS course, and it enlightened me as to how rigorous our safety standards are.
@@seawolf6309 Wrong and false. I was making a comment about economics. If you increase the amount of people in a workforce(through immigration) you will push wages down. There are other negatives as well, such as capital outflow. Also, very few foreigners are in skilled trades, so it is not a case of being out competed in terms of experience and qualifications. I would assume from your comment that you don't work in construction in the UK.
Join the British Army Reserve ( formerly T.A.) I guarantee that within a few weeks of joining , by networking you be offered a job on a building/construction site.
Thank you very much for your videos! I have one question. Should I have the white CSCS card before applying for Graduate Civil Engineer jobs in the UK?

I would like to know, is it possible that i'v first came to UK as tourist, and seek and possibly find some job opportunities, and afterwords get work permit visa, before come as a resident and working in UK.
Hello brother, I would like to know about the demand in BIM jobs, I'm interested in taking the course under student visa. Is it a right choice? Love from India 🇮🇳
Thanks so much for your videos. Im from Africa, I have a Bsc in Quantity surveying but coming back from a break. I plan to do an msc in Construction project and cost management in Coventry uni next year with the intention of staying in the UK to work afterwards. Do you feel employers will have any form of prejudice or descrimination to Africans?
john Enekwechi hey that’s awesome and there is lots of work going in that part of the country right now :). I’ve worked with a few African engineers over the years and none of them have mentioned being discriminated against. Let’s hope that’s something you also don’t have to encounter ! Best of luck
You probably wont be able to work straight after graduation as you wont have a work visa. Probably best to get a few years experience in your own country before looking further afield
This is the brutal truth my fellow foreigners in the UK! I’ve been living in the UK for almost 16years now, and did all my best to get into the construction industry as they say most skills are needed and included in the skills shortage list. But NEPOTISM runs in this country and that’s the brutal truth, eventually I already gave up and just living daily for the shittest of the shit jobs that they don’t like. I’m a qualified Electrical Engineer and has level 5 UK NARIC conversion plus level 2&3 Electrical Installation. I’m so tired of studying and doing trainings but you don’t get a call about your application.
Hi , I’m studying a two year university diploma in building and construction, what’s the job vacancies in site manager for graduates like What must a graduate know
Do the SMSTS course, the HSE for MAP test, and First Aid at Work with Red Cross or StJohn Ambulance, and you're good to go. With your degree and the above, you might be able to get the black CSCS card, don't quote me on that though.
Madam, Do you know about the Hinkley power plant project. I have more than 24 years experience in setting out jobs including 15 years of gulf experience in setting out
Hello Mam.. I am an indian mechanical engineer with 8 yrs experience in M&E Quantity Surveying in Dubai and working towards MRICS (APC candidate). I am planning to do Masters in Quantity surveying from sheffield hallam uni coming sep22. In my case, how tough it would be to get a job in UK after degree. Any advice or suggestion.. please
Why for foreigners? Why not young Brits(all ethnicities)? I'm 2nd & 3rd Gen immigrant. Our youth are being neglected; in favour of someone you have to tell 6 different synonyms so they can try to understand you, then you have to use Google translate to no avail; it's not isolated it's on most sites now
First time I am seeing your video. Short and sweet It's really impressive and Useful. I am actively looking for a Job in UK from India/Dubai. I will apply your ideas in searching. Hope will get it done. Thank you.

The only part time jobs are the for subcontractors. That limits you to trades. If you want to be part of the project management, or finance planning etc you have to work to the demands of the project.
Great more advice for more labourers that will make my wages stay as they are for another 20 plus years. Tell them to pay truck drivers to get into the uk
Hi , I did my post graduation from a UK University during 2014 to 16 in construction management and presently working in India. What's my chance of getting a Job in UK ?
This is very informative. Thanks for making. I have a question. I am an Architect from India and now studying in uk for MSc in Construction Project Management. Since I have an Architecture background will this affect on getting a job. Or the employer prefer Civil Engineering background student. Please help.
It will be broader but depends on the company, i believe most junior engineers will. be setting out too. it;s best to ask your employer what the job will involve

Quite informative! Thanks for the video! If may I ask, can you elaborate more on the "transferable skills" ? And also, do you think being chartered (e.g., CEng, IEng, MICE, IStructE, MRICS, etc) is a must prior to finding a job in the UK? Thanks once again for the video. Cheers!
@@SheWhoDaresWins Ma'am does carrying a title chartered really makes a difference...I am asking in terms of salary and does it make it easy for us to find a job???
@@SanjayS-ek1ox yes, Chargership status will increase your wages and you can negotiate more flexibly as you belong to a professional body and have high standards, always learning snd following key construction protocols, your also more likely to know different changes in legislation etc.
Would MICE be a big plus in applying jobs in the UK? I am from Hong Kong and sort of noticed that Chartered Engineers in the UK are on the practical sides instead of on the management side? Thanks!
Can you just tell me the options for getting Jobs in UK from abroad? I am currently working in Dubai as M&E construction manager for the last 6 years and I have 10 years of total experience in construction.
This Is A Man's World , I already registered in many job sites and applied for lot of positions. But I felt they would contact only if we are available in UK.

Hi, I'm a graduated surveying engineer I'm living at Turkey. I want to move Australia with graduated engineer visa or a language school and get a job in land surveying because I can't find a job in my country. But I haven't got job experiencens except intern. What can I do? could I working in here and get some experiences or going there without experince? Young unemploying is sicnificant issue in Turkey.
How is the job role of CAD Technician in surveying department? Like do you feel it lives upto standard of a proper graduate engineer or these jobs are meant for high school diplomas? What shall be your opinion?
Much Informative dear! Could you suggest me which course is better, Msc in construction project management or quantity surveying or Real estate i am literally confuse.
@adnan, if youre planning to school in the UK, you could check out Msc in construction project and cost management in coventry uni (which is a mixture of construction project management and quantity surveying)
Hii Mam This is Umesh chandra Jangam I am persuing my masters in Teesside University as civil and Structural Engineering is there any way to get in to the job?
I am a Civil Engineer and had worked for 4 years in Nepal. Like you said in the video, my job title was a general engineer but i have done the surveying, setting out, quality checking and estimating. Overall, i have worked as an assistant manager. I have even worked as a cad designer for a small consultant. I have moved to UK for 6 months and realise not all the work is done by a single person but has different title for each unique work. I have acquired CSCS card and have been applying for so many jobs but haven't yet received any feedback. i hope you could tell me what else do i need to get a job ?
Have u moved to uk for studies or for job ?! If for studies have u completed ua studies and do u have a job ?! Is there any scope of civil engineering in uk?!
Thank you for the valuable information... Can you please tell me what are the best universities for Bachelor of Construction Management(Construction Project Management) in the UK. What would you recommend?
It's a bit more difficult. You have to have your machine tickets and these cost money. You will usually be required to pay for these yourself before a company will give you a job. Some companies will take you on as a labourer then help you cover the cost for the ticket, but only if you promise to stay working for them.
