Your videos have explained depth of field extremely well and also shown me how I can preview exactly what I'm going to be shooting with depth of field preview. Thank you. I wasn't even aware that my RP screen didn't show this automatically as a preview. Now I do so hopefully my photos will improve
Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful rather than making a shot and hoping everyone is in focus. You can just click the depth of field focus button to double check if you got a right aperture before pressing the shutter button. Then quick check of your shot. This is vey helpful and you’re trust you for your word. Nice one
I was wondering about this last weekend when I was shooting, and noticed how my evf would always show previews at the widest aperture, even when i was down to f8+. Now I know exactly what AE lock is for. Thanks!
So do I understand correctly that Canon cameras cannot change the depth of field in live view like it works with Nikon and Sony? with Canon do I have to hold down another button to see the depth of field? it is not possible to select many of these functions, so it is rather impractical.
Yes. You need to press the DOF button to view it on live view. In the case of the RP, there is no dedicated DOF button so if you want it, you need to program a button to do that.
What firmware are you using because on 1.6.0 there is no option to map depth of field preview in the settings you showed. I wonder if they removed it!?
Hi, when I made this, I used the previous firmware but I have just checked. With 1.6.0, it is still there. Please keep in mind that you can't set this DOF in certain modes such as A+ , video and SCN modes.
