Another tip is to keep working different spots of the pile. I take one scoop from the middle then come in from either side of the first scoop. That narrow windrow the spills out from either side of the bucket is easier to penetrate and get a full load than constantly hitting the same spot

Backdrag the pile before you try taking a scoop out of it. It let's you load up what you had backdragged off of the pile with the larger pile acting as a backdrop to push the smaller pile of material against. Even backdragging smaller piles with the flat bottom side of your bucket can be a big help. This will give you some compaction in your pile if it's lose and also make the material load easier. Always get your bucket down to the ground after you dump your material. Never keep your bucket high in the air, ESPECIALLY if you have a bucket full of material. Practice without your auto level whenever you are not cutting on a surface that it is critical to keep your grade on. If there is no worry about digging a hole, ditch the Autolevel and work with the sides of your buckets as your visualization for your cutting edge. As others have said, don't spin your tires. Don't wait until you stop before lifting up on the boom to put that downward pressure on the tire. Great video bro. This is excellent advice for beginners. They just need to learn to put it all together as one fluid movement and not worry about doing this, then that, then this, then that.

As a Sanitation worker, this machine is one of the tools I use to move trash. I enjoyed this presentation as it is extremely relevant in my experience. Thank you! Can you please go over the procedure to install and remove the bucket from this machine. It would be helpful to me to go over this procedure as we have at least three different attachments we use for various clearing situations. Since I'm not privileged to be able to do those functions on a regular basis, I've gotten rusty on this procedure. By the way, its 2022 and that 'self leveling' feature all the new ones have, hasn't materialized yet, still waiting.😆 Thanx in advance.

#1 DROP TO 1ST GEAR. Helps apply additional torque to the front. #2 Left foot heavy on the left brake until you feel the slightest give. This will prevent wheel spin and possible loss of your job. #3 lift boom while doing #2. #4 rock bucket back in 6-12" pops. You shouldnt be bouncing in your cab. This is good for solid and soft piles. #5 DONT DO A HARD SNAP AT THE END OF YOUR ROCK BACK! this damages your pins, boom, and bucket over time. #6 Pull back until your bucket is a foot or 2 from the pile an give a quick shake forward and back to sluff your exess material that WILL fall during travel resulting in a loss or contamination of product. #7 reverse from pile. A good operator can fill an 8yd bucket of medium-hard material in under 30 seconds. When i started as a loader operator at my crushing pit, i had 1 minute from the time i finished dumping into the feeder to get to my stockpile, fully fill my bucket, return, and start dumping before my feeder would empty. If you spin tires youre wasting money(life of the tire & life of the cutting edge, theyre not cheap), and time.

Hi, Dirt Ninja. That's all very well with stockpiled loose gravel. There is a bit more involved in digging tight material straight out of a bank. Still and all, it's good to see somebody taking the time to try to educate the newcomers. Thanks for that. Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I do it differently. I drive into the pile and boom up with my bucket level before i meet resistance, never spinning any tire (unless its wet) and keep booming up driving into it (which will drive the materiel into the corner and back of the bucket and then last 1/4 of the movement i curl up and slam a bunch up to heap my full bucket. then ride around on the front wheels. I find it takes awhile to learn to keep the bucket level for most people, any new operators just keep at it. any chance you get try to grade and level areas - don't rely on auto level.. you'll get to the point where you don't even look at the bucket or try to figure out what points look level (good way to dig holes un intentionally) you should just be able to feel what the bucket is doing.. if you're on hard materiel open a window and you can hear wether you are cutting or skating or dragging

very good instructional video, I think it is needed and will help the new guys out, one thing i'd like to add. keep your work area level. as in your video when you were demonstrating loading the bucket as soon as the tires slipped you stopped. the new guys starting this will spin the tires like satchbooggy said and if you don't level the area back up it only adds to the problem, load your truck then come back and dress the area a little it will make your day a lot easier. I've seen new guys damn near roll the machine in front of a pile. looking forward to more videos

@ShadSimm
@ShadSimm 3 года назад
Most machines have a button to drop it into first as you approach the pile if you crazy enough to drive it in manual. Best kept it in auto and give the machine a chance you’ll go in and out in first less stress on the machine..
@aboveitall4763
@aboveitall4763 3 года назад
@@ShadSimm if your loading trucks for production then screw the auto mode, leave it in first and you will never over work yourself and the machine. You will never have to wait for that stupud up shift or down shift. If your shifting your target is obviously to far and not productive

As long as you're not really trying to dig into packed material, going in at an angle is fine. The trick is to unwind the steering wheel as you push in to keep the bucket pushing straight, and use the back wheels like the tail of a fish to push forward.
@frankmoreau8847
@frankmoreau8847 6 лет назад
Others have noted the wheel spin which shouldn't happen in relatively loose stockpiles of gravel. Even when digging raw native pit run gravel wheel spin can be avoided. Just use a little less throttle when pushing in.

What tips do u have on scooping up broken up concrete? How about loading on uneven ground that has holes and dips.? I enjoy your vids can you show some tips on real life scenarios? For example I operate on a landfill, in the North East and we load concrete, clean fill, dirty dirt, wood chips, yard waste, and the ground isn't always hard and flat,. It varies depending on weather, or spillage from trucks or other operators, and divots. One thing I struggle with is loading rock piles.

@unimogdave 6 лет назад
You should use a counter weight on the 3PTH equiv to capacity of the loader. Front ends are not designed for loader specs. Commercial Loaders are articulated or have a 5,000 lb backhoe on the rear. If you plan to do a lot of Loader work, also try and purchase a bucket equal to the width of the tractor. IE my tractor is 48 inches wide and came with a 54" bucket. I build a 48" bucket and it out performs the factory bucket by a large margin. Factory bucket is good for snow and hauling firewood.

Back dragging the pile is very important if your working a large pile if you don’t you end up under mining.. next thing that’ll happen is everything above that will come down on the bucket causing the machine to flip forwards. Our stock pile is about 60’ tall that’s a lot of material to come crashing down
@crashgsxr750
@crashgsxr750 3 года назад
You got the first part right When you lift the boom as you entire the pile you are tipping the bucket down while continuing to drive into the pile Then transition to curling bucket back Full buckets every time with no bucking Bronco
@zigzag5805
@zigzag5805 5 лет назад
if you look the flat edge he points out a the beginning runs the full length of the bucket . look at that then your not looking either side of bucket but always looking straight ahead. and you always hit the face/heap square on which in turn creates a even break out force on your UJ (universal joints) on your driveshaft . if your lucky like me you could have a machine that lets you add or take away power from the drive train which in turn prevents wheel spin

Also depends on the material your going into, some (don't know what you call it in the states ) but over here in Australia we call it a crusher dust or manufactured sand & sometimes you can't just head into the pile & lift the boom, you might need to cowl the bucket a few times to fill it up because the material ends up being as hard as a rock & clumps together

My boss complained to me that there was no way in hell i was putting only 4 buckets (18m³ roughly which is the max they can carry) of gravel in the trailers we were using to haul between work areas. He claimed the difference in the amount of material between trailers was roughly a full bucket and decided to come watch me (thought i was putting 5 buckets for 22m³) He then spent the next 2 hours teaching the other drivers how to properly use a wheel loader but didn't say a thing to me after giving me a speech on how dangerous it is to over load, and how badly it can damage the trailers..
