Everyone wants to work the oilfield until it’s crunch time...leaving your family & friends...staying in busted hotel rooms or rent houses...it’s not for everyone. If you do however end up working... SAVE YOUR MONEY....INVEST YOUR MONEY.
2023 and still kickin down knowledge. Preciate you brother. Where ya at now, whats the gig today, stay up, stay positive stay blessed focused and strong !! 💯
I want to do oil for half a year need money for college:/ I don’t have parents or friends graduate high schools being a isolated person so I don’t really have thing to leave behind about to turn 19 just need to find a company in texas
I live in farmington nm working for a roustabout company but am thinking about relocating to carles bad or west texas, I want to drill or hydro vac assistant I have experience with hydro vac, would it be easy to get a job out there
To get in the oil field you have to be ready and take what ever comes your way get your foot in the door don’t ask about pay or perdem it’s a ladder you have to climb up it’s not easy
Hey Julio, Thanks for the question. This time last year I would have said you would have a very good chance. But the way things are going right now I would say it’s not a possibility this year or maybe next. Halliburton laid off 3500 last week. While they will hire back more people next year this current moment when the market is down is not a good industry to get in right now.
What do you recommend for transportation to and from work when I get to the job site? I’m from Pennsylvania so that’s a pretty far drive for me so I’d prefer to fly. I was thinking of finding a cheap used truck after I get there but I’d have to get back and forth the first couple weeks first.
Hey Rob, I would definitely recommend a reliable truck. I had an older F150 that I drove from TX to NM. It’s very important that it is reliable and the lease roads are pretty rough which is why I recommend a truck. I was thinking about flying and leaving my truck at the airport and that worked pretty good for me. Thanks for the comment.
Jeeps are good to if your tool set doesn’t require a truck. There is extended parking at MAF but if your company has an office in midland then maybe you can leave it there also. Lastly, invest in a cellphone signal booster. Good luck.
I need to grow my network to get my foot in the door. I'm from Socorro new mexico , I might just take a risk and show up to different offices to apply idk where to start thanks for your time and advice it's appreciated 🤝
Graduating in may 2020 with a business management degree. Worked my whole life in construction so not afraid of hard work. Any opportunity for sales side or something like that?

Hey bro I been interested in these moves to Texas for oil jobs. I been watching the videos do u have any references to company’s that pay well an company’s to stay the hell away from
Ben Nutter thanks for replying man appreciate you taking the time out there. Another question I have is do you see people coming out there with nothing but boots an ambition an making it?
No problem! There could be a chance that could work but I wouldn’t recommend it. That area of West TX and New Mexico is one of the most dangerous places in the US right now because of the oil boom. I would definitely go out there with a plan and at least a job offer.
Good Morning Bro, i'm a senior wireline operator i'm not an american but i paln to move to usa so i wanted to ask you, what are the chance to get a job as a wireline supervisor or senior operator
Thanks for the message. I would say there is a good chance. But at the moment there is almost no business as most rigs have shutdown because the oil market has declined over the past months.
The best include Schlumberger Ltd. Archer Limited. Baker Hughes Inc. Halliburton. Superior Energy Service Inc. Weatherford International. FMC Technologies.
@@Bennutta oooh thank you bro ! You are really a nice guy , my last question is about what are the companies that hire trainees like supervisor trainee or an operator trainee , and what's your opinion about that ?should i apply as a new trainee or as a mid career because i have only 2 years as a wireline supervisor, thank you Ben you ve been very helpful with me
Like the video! I have been trying to get on in the field! Finally I’m going to this company hiring event in June in West Texas. I kept trying and believing.
All states require self-employed engineers to be licensed, but a license may be optional if you work under a licensed engineer. Requirements vary, but state boards usually require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering from a school accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. You must also pass the preliminary Fundamentals of Engineering exam and complete at least four years of qualifying work. Finally, you must pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination. In some states, you need continuing education to keep your license.
Hey bro, am from Algeria am a mechanical engineer...i have 4 years of experience in oil field (Well Testing)...& Also 4 years in another field My question is: do i have the chance to get a good job in oil field or any other field & how to apply. Would u plz give me some advices. Thnx in advance
Roustabouts are the hardest workers n least paid but what u didn’t say which is d truth: it’s not what u know n it’s not who u know now it’s who u blow!!!! N that what sucks there is so much ball washing n d oilfield that u have to hold ur own n try to learn ASAP n move on else where if the company u work for won’t move u up cuz I’ve been n d oilfield for 28 years now n I’ve seen it all ur just a number n I’ve broke in losers from a mine n Carlsbad when they were hired as pumpers n within a year or so they were a foreman 🤔 I’m Mexican American know English n Spanish worked 12 years for a major building battery’s n swd n did maintenance n just like that gave me d boot I have a professional job resume but there r people on top that don’t know shit and see my resume n throw it away cuz they feel threatened n that’s one major problem with oilfield it’s golf buddies it’s cowboys fan buddies it’s rodeo buddies first n then cousin’s n maybe minority n that’s a maybe n if there is a minority that dude is either married into them or a cock sucker n I’m 100% serious that’s something u need to know n think about d oilfield
Hey ben I am from india and I would like to know the highest paying off shore oil rig . pls answer me . well i am a student and have a deaire to work in off shore rig as an engineer
Working In the field having and a bachelors degree would not make a difference. But the only way to work for an oil company in the office is to have a bachelors degree.
Ben Nutter nah I’ve seen guys start off by washing floors and become counselors sitting all day in the office just doing paper work at the rigs it’s a hard ass job when you start off in the oilfield but it pays if you ain’t got no education these men really bust their ass and they rank up through the years
Sir I’m currently doing my bachelors degree in petroleum engineering in India and I will graduate in May 2020. Do you see foreigners in the oilfield with you
Ben Nutter Sir is it a good option to do a masters degree in petroleum engineering in the US. And are there good office job opportunities in the Permian basin or Texas overall now
@@Bennutta lol i must be retarted, lol everybody i know is trying to tell me, there are no jobs in alberta. LOL i only applied to 2 places, got a job offer after second resume. So today, i sent 50 resumes out all in one area alberta. Tomorrow i bet my phone lights up like an xmas tree.
Ben, When time permits, requesting to talk via phone regarding pursuing a career in the oilfield industry. BACKGROUND: Active duty military Officer with 24 years. Please let me know if you are open to talking via phone and I will send you my email or other POC information. Thank you.
@@Bennutta understood. I'm going to use vacation time to travel to the area with the intent of networking e.g. going to local industry companys' headquarters, temp agencies, speaking with locals, and etc. Would you be willing to provide a listing of organizations that potentially provide housing, per diem, etc. to their employees? I want to invest the few days I will be there in a priorities of effort manner. I welcome the opportunity to meet in person if your schedule permits, beer on me. Thank you.
