If you're new to the oil fields and are starting off in a floorhand position this video might help you to understand what to do.
Floorhand is an entry level position. This job will require you to be a active, pay attention to detail, ask questions, and put safety above all else.
I hope this video helps and good luck!

lol I said the same thing- still working the rigs and pissed off schooling! F schooling when you can make what you make on a rig!! & you don’t HAVE to go home after your “14 day hitch”! You can stay for more $$$$$$$$$$$$$😂😂

I worked 15 years on the rigs all the way up to driller. I still show this video to people who ask me about starting on the rigs. You won me over instantly when you talked about not being lazy, lol it really is a huge thing. not only cause you’re being lazy, but because you’re earning your crews respect and thats what really matters. If your crew doesnt like you then your days are numbered

This video was motivational, I’m 21, & single and school isn’t for me. I’m going to get informative on this before I apply. This isn’t my last option as a job but I want to get some good money and use it towards something great like a business. I already know how to manage my money and know I won’t be irresponsible on going out in spending all my money on stupid things.

I worked in the oil field for almost 7 years total. The longest period of time I was working was 7 weeks. When you bottom out it could ge 6 months or longer before you get another hole to drill. So I jumped from rig to rig trying to stay working. My advice is find something steady. Yea $1800.oo to $2400.oo a week is good bit working half of the time beings you down to a 9 to 5 factor job.

Long story short, in my experience. Workin floors a clean floor is a good floor. Collar clamps and wedding bands stay in the same area out the way with easy access. Keep your mud bucket and catch can close by during trips. Never be scared to learn. Follow the motor man when shit goes wrong. Go to the mud house and learn how to get a mud check. Best advice I can give is ask questions if you don’t know. No matter how stupid you think it could be. If it don’t look right it might not be right. And don’t EVER stand there and watch somebody work. Jump in and get hands on. Show them guys you wanna get in there and learn. Always have a good attitude and you’ll be good. It’s good money and them days off are glorious. Been doin it 2 years now just got moved to derricks. Gotta love getting high. Fftp. Be safe men

Good video man. I was about to withdraw my pre employment out here in the Great Basin CO. I watched this video and you inspired me cause my boy I got out there is telling me everything is big and heavy keep ur head down you’re gonna take a bunch of shit blah blah blah. Made me not wanna work there but if it’s even possible to get on their good side I’m down I’ll work my dick into the dirt. I’ve done electrical work it’s boring. I’ve done fiber it’s boring. I have to be busy hands on physical all day think it will be a good job other than I have to be a big boy and work 12 hours a day for 14 with no days off. Used to do traffic control with semis flying by me at 60 mph on the side of the highway so I’m hoping it’s about just as safe as that. Good video man you should do other vids im subbing. Hope you’re doing good I don’t believe you got ran off. I’d love to work with ya.

I work with a third-party casing delivery company called Tenaris. I belong to a great group called Run Ready. We respond to rigs to deliver casing that’s pre-doped, pre-washed, laser measured at the mill and we use QR codes and URCs on the pipe to create tallies. We respond to all kinds of rigs. Chevron, Blackbrush, Lewis, Pioneer and deal with all types of company men, rig conditions, and regulations. The point is that there are sooooo many ways to join the oil fields without working on a rig floor. Just ensure you do your job to completion and to perfection. Any little small mistake can turn into a HUGE issue. Have integrity. Have confidence. Watch, look, and listen at all times to ensure safety and look out for your fellow man. I am one of only two females on my team but I have never faced any issues from the men I work along side with. Good luck to everyone getting into this line of work!

Do u gotta have your own vehicle or they give u a company vehicle or meet at a shop then y’all drive to the site
@jp_vids9631
@jp_vids9631 2 года назад
The company I worked for provided company trucks where the operator would pick up all the workers then we'd drive to location. Only problem was that sometimes my crew didn't want to pick me up which was a pain in the ass. It kinda made me pissed that they did that. I can't speak for all companies but if it's a good company they'll most likely give you a company vehicle with a gas card. I think it's rare that they'll have you drive your own car unless they were reimbursing you.

Do I need any certificates to work as a floorhand in oil?
@jp_vids9631
@jp_vids9631 2 года назад
I don't believe so (not for Colorado or Texas) other states might be different. I think the only certificates I needed were safety training certificates and OSHA required classes.

Does Patterson-UTI take a drug test for the floor hand position? If so which type. And 2nd do we really need our own transportation out in the Midland TX Region?
@crayonsnacks2858
@crayonsnacks2858 2 года назад
Drug test is required for floor hand position. Type? Don’t know. But urine and hair follicle for sure. You are responsible to get yourself to work. But, if you’re called on your time off, they will pay for travel to work.

Can you stay as a floorhand position or will they force to take on another position?
@jp_vids9631
@jp_vids9631 Год назад
I would assume if you wanted to you can. Often times people might say that you're ready to be a Derrick hand or machine operator. But if you don't want to be those I'm sure you can talk to your supervisor to stay as a floor hand.

If you can not work or do as instructed, your time on a rig will be very short. It is not Mickie Dee's son. There are only 2 CANT'S in the oil field; if you can't get her, you can't stay. My first day out, 20:49 we met at a Cjevron Gas Station on I 5 just wet of Bakersfield, California. 4 of us piled into the drilles 59 Caddy and he turned around in his Sealand looked me in the eye, you know rhat all business, matter of fact, old drillers eye, and said, " Hey worm, you eat before work or after work and you will not eat ind my car." We traveled 1 1/2 hours to and from the rig every day for 28 days. Everything is easier now a days , but most new hires will be found sitting on the pipe rack after tour crying for their mama.

@jp_vids9631
@jp_vids9631 2 года назад
It all depends, that's the thing that kinda sucks. There were somedays when we would work straight 12 all week then there would be days when we got off early because we finished the job quickly. I guess it all depends how far along you are on a site, or if your supervisor sends you home early.
