hmm good question - I think they might as they are still able to participate in ALL team activities except playing in the game...I almost wanna say if you're listed on the roster then you count. And depending if it's a scholarship player who is redshirting or not might put them in or out of the 105.
it will get you on par with everyone else, those are the bare minimum requirements to be a walk on anywhere...now TIME, luck, consistency, skill, constant improvement, and intelligence can bridge the gap and get you the rest of the way.
For ours everyone went. I think they did a thing where like the 105 went to the bowl all at once (everyone who is practicing etc.) and anyone else went at a later time
Yes it is! I initially didn't think it would be because my first tryout was in the fall and no one made it AND it seems super weird but then the following season we actually we had a decent size walk on class join on in the fall. It all has to do with numbers and who they need and how many they can take and injuries and all that. So don't count it out - if they have a tryout, do it.
If you walk on to a big D1 school as a walk on, do you have the ability or option to redshirt for the team in your first year? Or is that only an option for scholarship players (or seniors)?
@@clayraterman Good to know. I’m currently playing JUCO, and I plan to transfer into some university by the following Spring semester. I’ll w you on more in the future.
@@swoleup6534 nope typically there is 65 people who travel, 85 on scholarship, 105 on the official roster that make camp (the 105s) and then a lot of times there's an additional 10-15 players on top of that. They can't go to camp per say, but they just miss those few weeks and come back on like normal once its over. Sometimes they are people who are injured, walk ons they just can't take at the time, but will need come season time and for practice, etc.
