My son had managed to jam a second CD in and neither disc would eject (although somehow the first would still play). Having read this post I tried inserting a thin kitchen spatula (fish slice?) into the slot, then with the spatula still there also slid in a butter knife with sticky tape wrapped around the blade. I first tried with the knife on top of the fish slice, wiggled it whilst pressing eject, no luck. Then tried the same but with the knife underneath the fish slice - success! The second disc came out attached to the knife and I could then eject the first. Son very relieved, I am delighted too. Thank you!
Alright, brother. I listened to the same CD for ten years, but not anymore. Your method worked like a dream, except I used the access card to a parking garage with the tape. Beautiful. Thanks, Cory.
I had made an appointment with the car dealership and they were going to charge me $200+ saw this video and had to try it. I used a flat spatula and masking tape, the CD came out on the first try took me less then a minute to do! Thank God because it was my bosses CD that he let me borrow to listen to lectures!
Cory, thank you.Got the CD out from my wife's Honda Pilot. Worked like a charm. This was after the car audio and mechanic places both said they needed to tear the entire radio out of the dashboard. Thanks again.
Thank you SO MUCH!! Your trick worked on the very first try! I spent more time cleaning the tape off the shim than removing the CD! I didn't have any tapered shim, I used a plastic non-tapered shim that worked anyway. I found that the most important thing for me was the right thickness of shim and that very sticky tape you mentioned and making sure I wrapped it on both ends and held on tight with my fingers so it wouldn't accidently remain stuck in the player. Thanks a million!
I used a putty knife and it worked just like you said. I pushed down a little and boom! The CD was stuck to the tape and it came right out. Thank you so much for taking the time! Cheers 👍
Today I went to my dealer asking to get the CD stuck in my car's stereo. He told me it cannot be done. Then at home I tried your method using a flat, long piece of metal covered wit masking tape. It worked after a few attempts. Big Thank You!
This just happened to the CD player in our 2012 Sienna, and I too tried numerous tricks I found on Google to no avail. After listening to this, it took me a couple tries and voila, the tape stuck to the CD and pulled it right out. :) Thank you for sharing this trick!!!
THANK YOU!!!! My 3 year old daughter had stuck not 1, not 2, but 3 dvds at the same time into our 2009 Honda Pilot's DVD player. needless to say, they got stuck and wouldn't eject. I tried this trick with a piece of cardboard cut from a cereal box and the big piece of packing tape. I got all 3 dvds out and now the player seems to be working fine, which is good news for us since the whole reason we paid extra for this car over another one was because of the DVD entertainment system. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!!!!!
Like someone else said - It takes longer to find the stick/putty knife and packing tape than it did to actually get it out using your trick - it worked on the first try. Thanks so much for taking the time to post this video!
I just used this technique to get a stuck CD out of an Alpine 7909 in my 1988 Lamborghini Countach. Yes... You helped fix a half million dollar exotic car.
Fantastic. It worked first time, just like you recommended. I used a shim and a long piece of packing tape and stuck it in the CD slot, lifted up firmly on the shim back end to stick it well to the CD and then pried it up and out and it came out with the CD just fine. Then another CD came out when I pressed the CD eject button. The wife had 2 CDs in there at once. After I had them out, I tried putting one in and everything worked great. Wonderful video. Clear directions and thanks a lot.
Great advice! I used an old DVD with the double sided sticky tape pressing "eject" and applying down pressure. After some "doing" and a few pieces of tape I managed to extract all six CDs. However, the changer was 18 years old and on borrowed time anyway and the surgery essentially gutted the unit. Two of the CDs had a good deal of sticky residual on them after the procedure. I used some "GooGone", a soft tissue and then a micro fiber eye glass cloth and gently managed to remove the residue. Now, they play like new on my computer. Thanks again!
Oh my goodness!!! It worked!!! This was absolutely fantastic. Took less that 10 minutes to get out 2 cds that's been stuck in the CD player since I got the car last year!!!! Thank so much. I never thought of that!!!! Wonderful. I'm subbing just because!! 😍😂
Thanks so much. My daughter put a CD in a year and a half ago not knowing that there was already one in there and they have been stuck until today. I used a thin narrow spatula with the tape and pulled both of them out!
Your method works perfectly. My Van Halen CD got stuck and I was able to retrieve it using double sided tape and a plastic card. I got the CD out at the first attempt.
ive had a cd stuck in my Volvo for about three yrs same thing happened in my last volvo i had fo 12 years. i hate car notes with a passion but love driving and music and teaching cds. im so excited getting ready to go out in the rain and try it now THANKS FOR CARING AND SHARING!! MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU TODAY AND ALWAYS!!!
Thank you! Just tried this with a putty knife and packing tape, and I had the cd out in 15 seconds. That cd had been stuck in there for a year. Tried everything to get it out, even removing the fuse to the stereo to try to reset it. This trick tells me that a stuck cd is not a computer issue, but a matter of the cd getting bumped slightly out of place, and the only way to fix it is to remove the cd as you describe. Saw your video in the nick of time; I was just about to tear the dash apart, and then the cd player. Saved me a lot of work!
Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying for ages to get 4 cds out of my Trailblazer deck and this finally worked!! I used a rubber spatula and duct tape. Just in time too, I'm selling the car tomorrow. :)
I used this trick on my Honda pilot to remove 2 stuck DVDs... I did not use tape. I only had a thick card paper. Infolded it twice and put it in as instructed just to try. To my amazement after it stopped making the grinding sounds the dvds came out a little bit... I pushed the paper again the second time and this time they came out enough for me to pull them out WOW!!. Thank yoy so much!!!!!
YESSSS!! Thank you so much! I haven't been able to use my player for years after my child had stuffed too many CDs in there one day. I just pulled out 3 discs on the first try using a spatula and some less-than-super-sticky tape! Looks like I'm tied with @Braulio for most discs. Player works just fine now loading, playing and ejecting. Pure gold!
Amazing! I just bought a new vehicle and there was not one but two CDs jammed in there. I used your method and first pull I got one. Three seconds is later I hear a CD spool up and start playing...I then hit eject and boom CD #2 comes out. I now have a CD player. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! I just passed the 6th anniversary of buying my car. I stuck a CD in when I drove it off the lot. It never played, it never ejected. 6 years later, I just tried this using a credit card and I have my CD back (plus a CD that was in there that must've belonged to the previous owners) and am listening to CDs in this car for the first time.
Two thumbs up!!! I was too lazy to look for a shim so I tried a piece of cardboard from a regular moving box. It worked like a charm the first try as well and even found a second Cd's hung up in there as well. Unfortunately the player is no longer working properly so I'll keep my eyes open for your next video showing how to get it to load and unload without the use of an object covered in sticky tape. :)
WISE WORD TO VIEWERS... do NOT use anything metal. Do NOT stick anything 'metal' (that conducts electricity) in your 'ELECTRONIC' radio!!!! wood shims and plastic/rubber pieces work great though. like he said, plastic putty knife woulda worked good too. oh, and thanks for sharing this video, good everyday knowledge to help small annoyances like this common problem lol.
I just tried your suggestion, I just used a bit of plastic with duct tape on the end , I put it in and came out first time, cd works fine, thanks very much mate.
Very grateful to you. One of my favourite CDs was stuck for 10 days until I liberated it in a few seconds with your technique. I used a credit card and a strip of electrical tape.
This worked like a charm. Got all 6 CDs out of the player and none of them took more than two tries! I used a plastic putty knife and duct tape. Thanks!
Fabulous! I used a metal spatula and scotch tape. I inserted taped spatula, turned on the CD, hit eject and recovered my two stuck CD's on the first try. Thank you so much!!!
Used a putty knife and had to try it 4 times, but it finally worked. Had to press up harder than I thought, guess my tape wasn't as sitcky as yours, but it came out. Good on ya.
Joe. Oct. 25, 2016. Simplest method. Wrap one end of a disc with and strong sticky tape. twist the tape so sticky tape is facing up. Hold the tape strongly with your thumb, and the insert into the disc just a bit until you are sure the tape has made contact with the disc inside. push down, and with your other hand push on eject and now pull out. Now the stuck disc comes out . This works . I just did this about ten minutes ago. Good Luck, Keep well , Keep smiling
Just finished a construction project and for the first time in my adult life I was out of shims. Tried my putty knife and it worked. I think the shim would be even better. Thanks for posting.
I just tried this trick. I had 2 cd's stuck inside of a single car CD stereo. I used a 12 inch metal ruler and wrapped the packing tape around one end extending about 6 inches, holding on to the ends while inserting the ruler into the CD player. Then I hit eject. It gripped to the top CD and I pulled it out. The 2nd one also needed help. It would not come out on it's own. I got it to come out also. I tried putting another CD into the player and it played. I inserted and ejected it a few times just to be sure it would work and everything seems fine now. Thanks so much for the great idea of shipping tape. I thought I was gonna have to get someone to remove the CD player to get them out.
Worked on my 6-CD changer!!! I was able to remove the remaining 4 jammed CDs this way (I think the loader was broken). Now our 2006 Honda Odyssey no longer makes that loading sound everytime you unlock the doors. AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!!
Thanks. I almost had the same idea but I was using duct tape on a 1" plastic putty knife. The duct tape was a bit thick for the job. I switched to packing tape like you used and used a bit of masking tape wrapped around the handle to secure it. It took a couple minutes to get the hang of it, but in under 10 minutes I had all 6 CDs out and undamaged! Thanks for the video.
I had a cd stuck in my Mazda for 3 months and could not remove. I put a question on RU-vid and saw your video it worked like a charm it took two tries but it worked. I used an old cd in stead of wood thanks.
Success! There were six CD's stuck in my CD player. I tried the idea above, but using an old credit card. Once the first CD was removed, all the rest came out using the normal CD player eject button. Thanks a lot.
Just got six cd's out of my factory Holden VE Blaupunkt six stacker radio using this trick. I used a plastic ruler with electrical tape. Worked a treat, thankyou!
Thanks for the info, I used my 2 inch putty knife and electrical tape, my Cd was stuck in my Yukon now when i pick my husband up from work he will be happy that he does not have to try and fix it :) lol it took longer to put the tape on then it did to get the Cd out .
Thank you for posting this. I JUST bought a new CD yesterday and for some reason it wouldn't eject. Thanks to you I didn't have to remove the whole stereo and disassemble the player. I didn't have a shim, but I had packing tape and a putty knife 👍
Thanks, there were 2 CDs stuck in my wife's mini cooper and she has been giving me so much hassle about getting it to a garage to sort it out. I've just watched your video and got them out using packing tape and a broad knife at the first attempt!
I want to thank you so much, after watching this video I decided to give it a try ,I used a pallet knife might be dangerous, but I wanted that cd out. Put some tape as suggested, I could not believe my eyes!! Thank you so much for sharing your video, still can't believe I got it out. Had to tell everyone! !!! Thanks again for sharing
Thank you, it worked and CD's continue to play. I used an old CD and put some duct tape over it, held the power and eject buttons in together and walla, out it came - worked like a charm!
For info, I had 2 CD's stuck in there and as I say they came out beautifully - a CD with duct tape, while pressing power and eject buttons at the same time.
hey,Brenda thanks a bunch a bunch .....mine was struck for months and I tried the duct tape over the cd ....with alittle work 5min cd out player playing again.... ;)
Although I loved the Lamb cd, I was fed up with it having been stuck in there for a week. I couldn't find a wooden shim, but a thin kitchen metal spatula with the tape worked first time! Many thanks.
I wish you would have made the video of you actually taking the CD out but will try it anyways. Your instructions are plain and to-the-point thanks for the advice
Outstanding. I'd already thought of using a shim...and I had a few in my garage. The packing tape was the missing link. Worked in 2 seconds. Thank you.
I used the metal spackle tool with packing tape and got 2 out. Going to put in a new unit. So glad I was able to retrieve the cds before I replaced the unit.
Thanks a lot for the tip man...did this trick to my girl whom had a cd strucked in..and it worked! I won't tell you which reward i've received after!! thanks a lot!
Thank you, .Your trick worked like a charm.I had a plastic door shim and 2 in. Wide packing tape.I taped the packing tape to the shim at the back end instead of just holding it
IT WORKED. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTION. I HAD SOME SHIMS IN MY GARAGE AND DUCK TAPE. MADE MY OWN DOUBLE SIDED TAPE AND FOLLOWED YOUR INSTRUCTIONS AND IT WORKED GREAT. THANKS SO MUCH
It works!!! I used a switchblade with clear packing tape, sticky side up. Stuck it in, pressed blade down a little and hit eject. Popped right out.Wow.My TT and I thank you.
I watched your video and tried the trick with a thin plastic 6in ruler and duct tape. It worked!!!!! I'm scared to put another CD in to see if it still works. Thank you so much!!!!!
Yes, I just watched your video, went out to my car, tried it and, after about 3x, it worked. Thank you so much! I've been so bummed having that CD stuck for about a month because one of my favorite things is to drive and listen to music....er, BLAST it! :D You just made my life better, Cory. Thank you so much!
I got the tape and stick ready.. and went to blow out the cd player with a can of ultra duster industrial strength (a high pressure air canister used for cleaning electronics) and when I blew the heck outta the player inside while hitting eject the disc popped right out. maybe the pressure maybe just needed a good blast to clean..? but it worked!!
Thanks - worked. Though I used a plastic putty knife. Anything that has enough surface area and flexibility so a small amount of downward pressure can force contact with the CD.
Thank you! Your idea worked perfectly!!! I used a spatula with the sticky side of the shipping tape on the outside of the spatula and followed your directions. Excellent!
OMG! Than you so much. Took longer to get my old double-sided tape to unroll than it did to get the two stuck CDs out. And YES on the plastic putty knife, as I was going to use something else. No metal...
Wow!!! Thanks bunch! I was panicking thinking I was going to have to pay to get that thing out!! Worked for me! I used a butter knife and 2 sided tape! Came right on out!!!👍🏽
Dude this is an amazing tip. I pulled my CD out on the first try too. My trouble started when I used a can of air to blow out the dust in the player, without realizing there was a disc in there. It's been stuck for a couple months. Thanks very much for sharing this!>
Just thought I'd let you know this worked. and was so easy. Thank you for posting this info. I had to take my CD back to the library today and didn't know what else to do. Yours was the 1st video I watched. I used a shim and scotch tape. Thank you again. You are awesome for taking the time to make this video Pam
oh man,, I had a cd stuck in my $1000 in dash dvd player in my trans am for 3 weeks, and I just got it out with your method first try to, thank you thank you man !!!! Saved me thinking my player was going out ! :)))) Made by Day !!!
Thank you! I just got two CD's out of my Honda Accord. I used a putty knife and duct tape. The first came out right away; it took a few more attempts to get the second one out, but it worked!
Worked!!! Had a DVD stuck in the player and a CD stuck in the CD player! Both out, thank you!! I also used a putty knife with the tape while hitting eject and it worked on my first try for both! 🙌🏻
Thank you! I used an old id card, Held the tape sticky side out, and then pushed a plastic spatula in to make the card go downward, and 2 cd's popped out from the previous owner.
I am going to try the putty knife and packing tape thanks for the tip. I have 4 cds stuck in a broken cd player. I like that you made that dt,dt, dt, sound as that is what mine is doing so hopefully this will work.
Thank you sooo much for this. It worked on the first try. I was actually considering going to the dealership for repairs...he quoted me a price of $800.00.
Perfect! I used a putty knife and packing tape. I did the tape lengthwise and a wrap around the handle to make it easier to hold the sticky tape. Great fix!
OMG!!!! THANK YOU! This is the only thing that has worked! It worked on the first try too :) I just used an old CD covered in packing tape opposed to the shim. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
You sir are a legend i just got my first car about a month ago and was trying to figure out how to load multiple CD'S at once and ended up getting one stick in there but with this trick it came out second try phew
I just want to thank you for the great and very successful idea to use a shimmy with sticky tape to remove my cd from the player in my vehicle. I had tried everything! and it was stuck in there for over 6 months until today!!! thank you I now have the last cd for my audio book back, which I had given up on ever seeing again. You made my day.
I'm a Beekeeper so I used a hive tool with tape like you mentioned worked second try no problem. Thank you so much for your help. I never would have thought of something like this. I believe painters use hive tools too but call them by another name maybe a scraper or something like that. I've seen them for sale in our hardware store.
YES!! This worked for me with a 2004 Subaru with 6 disc CD changer. At first I tried a drinking straw with tape because it was handy. It did not work. However I tried it with a butterknife and it worked after pressing the correct button for the CD - the tape grabbed onto the CD and then I pulled it right out!
