My friend Valerie visited me in Nigeria and thought it would be valuable to interview her on her Nigerian Visa application process. You know I am always looking out for you guys. I know the process might be different based on where you're applying from but I believe there is always something to learn from the experience of others. Let me know if you watched this in the comments below :)

So a few days ago you posted about a Nigerian man that was frustrated about his experience at the same Nigerian embassy (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3NoYg8EHOj0.html), so what factors made his experience so difficult, and your friends process seemed to go so smoothly?

It makes absolutely no sense that dual national British Nigerians have to pay $250 for a visa to travel to their own Country!!!! A dual national should not be treated the same as a mainly British national, all in the name of practicing reciprocal visa policies with britain. There should exist, a completely different visa category & lower cost for dual national nigerians travelling to their own country. Makes no sense to punish Nigerian citizens with exorbitant visa costs just for travelling home with a British passport.

How to put off visitors and discourage tourism in your country... follow Nigeria visa process. You must be REALLY determined to go there to put up with such headache and expense. See the ambassador first. Seriously? Compare applying for a visa between Ghana and Nigeria. World's apart. Come on Nigeria.

I completely agree with you. The visa process to other African nations is more convenient than Nigerian Visa process. Plus you find yourself looking forward to the trip. Unlike deciding to visit Nigeria, you'll have to consult your therapist and loved ones to ensure you are making the right decision. Then pray to God if you decide to go through with the wahala.

Yes it’s many black Americans that want to visit Nigeria but the Visa process is a headache. I don’t have that much patience in the world to deal with that. I will just visit some other country and spend my vacation money there with a relaxed mind, not worrying about spending too much money. In my experience I called to see what all I needed, then I traveled far. I get there and something else was added to the list. So that was wasted money down the drain. It’s ridiculous to change something when it hasn’t been a full year yet.

Nigeria is the wealthiest and most prosperous black nation on earth. it's basically the USA of Africa. Most Nigerians don't know what they have because you have no value for your green passports... Do you know that foreigners pay $2,000 yearly to renew their Nigerian residence permit? Cherish what you have.

@@thetravlogger9895 frankly there is little value and worth in the Nigerian passport. You get few benefits from it and where ever you show it in the world you are guaranteed to be treated like dirt. Getting Nigerian visa is so stressful. I live in New York and we have the Nigerian embassy here. Last year I applied for the visa and had to wait several weeks for processing with no updates. Whenever you call the embassy office it never goes through. So a week before my departure my Nigerian friend introduced me to someone who works at the embassy. I am African American. I traveled to Nigeria with my nephew this year, September 26 to October 9. Actually I got married there. We had to visit the Nigerian visa center near Washington DC. for our visa interview. Our flight was less than a week later. We were told that it would take several weeks before our visa was ready. Before leaving the visa center the guy indicated that for a tip he could speed the process up. We paid our first bride here in the U.S.. After arriving in Nigeria we presented our passport to immigrations, after stamping our passport the agent presented his fingers for a tip. My excuse for not paying was I just arrived with no naira. Next to the baggage claim area where we were swarmed by several guys offering services. One guy saying $25 would pay for everything. They told us that there was nowhere in the airport for us to exchange money, later taking us to that exact place. Back at the baggage claim our friend and driver had paid a bride to meet us. The remainder of my trip was very enjoyable and the people were very friendly. I hope they clean up the airport.

I was going to fly but I discovered that the airport rental cars were all booked for the day I was going . So I had to drive … 9 hr drive became 11 hr because of traffic . Plus I has to rent hotel . Nigeria government is practicing retaliatory visa system. For the Nigerian government, if your country embassy treat Nigerians well in Nigeria, they will apply the same treatment to citizens of that country. That explains why the British passport holder has to pay three times more than you. The British Embassy in Nigeria collects the same amount of money for a British visa in Nigeria. Nigerians go through hell to get appiontment in American embassy in Nigeria. That is why it is difficult for Americans.

I have SEVERALLLLLL comments: 1. Businesses might not have their websites updated all of the time, but for a federal &/or government agency not to is INEXCUSABLE. They are governed by law. Why in the world would their website not be updated and also faulty? 2. Doing due diligence: means that you may have several in person visits with OIS (embassy payment services) OR the embassy meeting with people who seem completely incompetent as they literally do not provide thorough OR complete criterion. It’s simply ludicrous. I’ve never heard of anything like it! 3. I could go on…I’m exhausted actually! 😩

I paid $560 ( Mutilple entery) for 24 months . I know that's alot but I would pay that again and again to avoid all the that wahala . Because I would have to travel to the embassy so doing the math I opted for Agency. And it was the easiest ever got my visa 10days later from the day I sent my documents to receiving back my passport back . Making a Nigerian visa was not really a problem, it was pretty smooth, BUT they didn’t look carefully at the dates I was going to travel, so they started the clock early on when my visa is valid…my visa is set to expire while I’m still in the country…so stressful, I might not go there anymore, I really don’t want to pay anymore fees, especially since it was their fault that they didn’t look at my travel dates DC location.

The process in Houston TX is very stressful, the staff is rude and they speak to you badly in front of everyone. I am American just got my visa 1 month ago this was my second time and it was awful. Definitely was treated differently compared to the Nigerian customers unfortunately

The process of getting a Nigerian visa for me was stressful bc 1) it was during the covid and End/SARS protest. The holidays. The timing was crazy 🤪. I just don't understand why they want you to make reservations and its not guaranteed that you will be approved for the visa. When I applied I asked for DC and since they was closed bc of the SARS they appointed me for GA. Since it was last minute and Thanksgiving week. I had to rent a car drive south to make this appointment. When I get there the rep was very nice and polite. I did the interview, but bc I had scheduled to go for interview in DC I had to resubmit my application and pay the fee again. They cancelled the first application and fee. Although it was a lot of work. I believe it was bc of the pandemic and the END/SARS reason why it was complicated. I will see if it was bc of that bc it is almost time to renew my visa.

Just a quick question, how often are you supposed to do biometrics when you travel to Nigeria using an African passport? It would help for other countries to reciprocate if necessary.

How can I get a Visa as a Chilean citizen in Chile? We don’t have any embassy or consulate in Chile. I live in the capital Santiago de Chile in the center (Government district) but there is nothing. Please help I want to visit Lagos now. Or might there be a chance to go to a direct neighbor country to Nigeria and from there enter Nigeria easier? (As well enter with a bribe) Or is there a service that you pay which makes the process instantly fast? Please help I want to visit Lagos now. Kind Regards Alexander PS: I have a German passport too.

I'm confused. When I went in 2016 I didn't do an interview and send bank statements. I applied online, sent all the documents, made many many calls for updates after 2weeks and finally got through, they said they're working on it. I got it back in the mail a week later. I didn't have to go to another state for a dumb appointment.

After this video i lost all hope to see my girlfriend, i'm also from switzerland, they wrote the visa needs 2-3 days, i made it online, but after 6 days no answer! They don't answer E-Mails, the E-Mail on the website also don't work! Tried 3 E-Mails i found in internet with no luck. They don't write i have to go there! When i make it online then never have the idea to go there! And also yellow fever Vaccination i don' have and i want this not! I'm too scared of vaccinations! I booked a flight in a few days for over 1'500.- CHF plus a 5 Star Hotel in Lagos. This means i lose this flight again, but the Hotel i can cancel. Also lose my $88 for the visa! Also for kenya i had a lot of problems with visa! I never ever vistit a country when they ask for a visa! 90% from the countrys dont need visa! I lost so many hours since days with searching for informations for this visa! Now i know why africa is not rich and why they have not much more tourists there! They lose my money also! Thank you for the video! This was the information i needed since days, but nigeria don't give you!

@@thetravlogger9895, I could not agree more. Most of these Nigeria mothers/fathers in the US always say " I don't want to have anything to do with that country". As a result they don't register their children as Nigerians. What they don't understand is no one knows tomorrow. The government is changing the laws now. Very soon, it will be difficult for them to get Nigerian citizenship, if they are not registered at the embassy at birth.
