Ngl I’ve been trying my absolute hardest to stay motivated in this field while being a father and working in a warehouse with rotating shifts every week. I’m currently doing the google cybersecurity certification everyday in between work and sleeping. You’ve been a huge help through this journey, matter of fact you’ve been the start of it all. Im currently on week 3 of it and I’m not going to lose focus and keep pushing through, thank you 🙏🏾
I’m at the beginning to my second attempt, being in an identical situation. Getting back on the horse now because I realised one day, if I kept it up the first time, I’d be nearly done by now. Keep going bro you can do it
I finally landed my first cyber security job last week as An Application Security Engineer. Thank you for support, mentorship and advised. God Bless You
@@UnixGuy I'm grateful for stumbling upon your RU-vid channel online; had I not, I wouldn't be where I am today. May the Almighty God continue to shower you with blessings and abundant rewards. I can honestly say that your channel has had a profound impact on my life, and I am a living testament to its positive influence because I still wonder how I got my 6 certifications(SC-200,AZ-104,SC-100,Security+CySA+ and CSAP) in six Months. Thank you once again
@@josephalan31 It depends but the main important thing to to be able to read code , know/understand what the code is doing, and be spot what make code vulnerable. ALthough there are automated tools for performing static analysis but for dynamic analysis you can use software like zap or burp etc.
Currently working in the intel field with a background in business. Doing the Google CS Cert and will then try for Security +. After that will start doing guided projects and (hopefully) apply for jobs. Im 25 and I know my time is running out quickly, so your vids really inspire and help me to achieve my goal of working in the CS field. Thank you for all of your videos and what you do for the community.
I've been on Short Term Disability for the past 5 weeks. I know I should have been studying for Security+ but I've never had this much time to myself. During covid, I had to work my retail job, wiping down shopping carts while others were on unemployment. This has felt like a much-needed break after 2020 and college. I needed a video like this to give me another kick in the butt.
Thank you for being a mentor, and giving us a structured path. All of your advices are so helpful, useful, and ideal. I am hoping to finish 2 certificates before I graduate college. Just wanted to say thanks!
most people who can get passed the rejection phase do end up becoming great engineers. I think that is the hardest part for many. Learning isnt the hard part, the grueling job hunt and becoming competitive enough to get hired can take a toll on you but its definitely worth it.
Thank you for your information and videos. Discovered your channel at a critical moment in my life. I've been watching you for a month. I am in a similar situation as your student. A/Net/Sec/Project+, SSCP in 8 months and hopefully PenTest+ in next week. All of this to finish an undergrad by the 31st of October. While I have been highly motivated and pushing towards a better future, I too have been fearful of that future. Not knowing the next step, an overload of opinions, and most trying to push their product(influence)/just trying to make money off advice. I know there are others like me - no prior experience, quiet/reserved, and uncertain of what to do next. So thank you for your teaching and advice. I truly appreciate it.
Great video, always inspiring me to keep going on this new journey, I think I’m taking a lot on my plate though, going to Devry for undergrad in Cyber security taking Google CS course also plus learning python and Linux from other sources lol
i'm from the Philippines. it keeps popping on my head. its impossible to work abroad. like why would they choose me. they would choose someone near instead of me. thanks for always making a vid that inspire and tells us its possible. it gives me hope.
No reason why you can’t grow your skill and become an expert in the philippines, and once you do that you can go anywhere in the world later if you desire :)
Hi Unix, I recently found out about you and I would like to say that you are fantastic. By the way, I need a mentor and I would like if you could be my mentor. Cheers
welcome here mate! I don’t have capacity to do one on one mentorships, you’ll find most of the information that you need in the videos (please watch them) and of if you still require further help then I have a paid mentorship call (link in the about section of this youtube channel)
hats off to your mentee for being able to pull all those certificates even with a full time job. i only discovered this field last year and have been struggling to find my footing. However, after finding your channel and videos i have a better hold of how to take my shot at this field, thank you!
Inspired watching your videos, recently i've completed CompTIA A+ | CompTIA Network+ | CompTIA Security+ | CompTIA CySA+. Actively looking for Job, lets see how many rejection i'll get? You are my RU-vid mentor. For sure, this video will give me strength.
I completed the a+,n+,s+ and pentest+ in 6 months as well as splunk certs and various others. Been on a job hunt since end of May and still can't secure a role. I'm working towards buying the oscp as nobody is taking me seriously. Please anyone reading this work on Hands on projects as soon as possible.
For someone already doing a Cyber Security Analyst job in a SOC, closing alerts as True/False Positive with commentary, and writing weekly & monthly reports on alerts, what steps are required to move towards a Security Engineer? Learning to install, configure, update software for customers and being able to perform technical presentations I presume? Cheers.
Thanks for Sharing. One of the best thing I have heard today. Sometimes, the boring reading seems you are not doing anything. But thanks for the motivation
I come from a developing country where not many cybsec jobs are available. I have tried to find cybsec meetings nearby. Couldn't find any. I am doing the google cert. Hoping to get started with the BTL1 soon, as per your reference. After I finish it and get my resume sorted out, I'm planning to apply for various fully remote positions outside my country. But I am still struggling to find networking opportunities like going to cybsec related meetings and such. A dedicated video for people like me who are looking for remote opportunities will greatly help us get some guidance. Thank you for existing on youtube though. Great content, fantastic guide. Couldn't love a channel more ❤
What are your thoughts on the new splunk certified cybersecurity analyst certificate ? For some reason I think the regular core or power user would fit better for beginners than show up in an interview pretending you are a certified cybersecurity analyst which in my mind might attract a lot more scrutiny ,does that make sens ?
How do you handle applying jobs that seem to have a massive (and almost unrealistic) list of required experiences or domain knowledge? It seems like most job postings are structured this way. Would you encourage one to still apply and just show enthusiasm for filling in the gaps? Thank you for your content.
well idealy you’ve done practical projects and certs with a lab based component! I talked about it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wcJcH51hmXY.html
Thanks for your advice and another great video. This one was very helpful in motivating me to continue my journey of learning more about cybersecurity. Thanks again!
I’m trying to change careers out of food and hospitality to it. I currently studying Security+ and the google cyber security certification but I don’t have a degree. Is there any advice for a entry level it job I can look into to start getting experience?
keep studying and once u finish those certs u start applying BUT keep studying harder things! your food hospitality job can pay the bills while you learn
Thank you for your dedication and taking the time to make a content like this. I always laugh while watching your videos and gain a valuable information at the same time. 😂Nancy The Admin 😂😂.
as a nurse, i realised you are right, i may not have the IT background that some folks have but i have other skills which in sum with what im learning now makes me not the best candidate but a worthy one!
im currently working in the restaurant field but my goal is to work in the cyber security field and currently i started my course on coursera and in started with google it support certificate to get refreshed of the basics,so that i can start doing cyber security courses later, you helped me a lot for my journey currently im taking ,it was only a dream for me to working in a cyber security field but from this one individual channel i learned many things and i know now where to go thank you so much for this great work ,you doing a great job the cyber security community and for the future of the world security as well by creating new cyber security workers.thank you so much for doing this love you .
Hii unix, I wanna ask u something,Is there any problem to study Google Cybersecurity course from their channel on RU-vid if I can't pay 50 dollars per month OR Should I buy their course bcz it is much better than studying the course from RU-vid?
its much better to buy it because the most useful part of the course is actually the hands-on labs where you’ll get to practice and put the concepts you learned to test, I elaborated on it in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6LIUhx95MCU.htmlsi=PvGeL-ywT2dgN9e1
Hey I had recently completed the Google cybersecurity certificate on Coursera. What should I do next? You send me a link last time but it didn’t lead to anything.
highly recommend you spend the time to watch my videos! Thats one the I recommend you follow: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LFlsDm8w36A.html
Is it advisable to work in a systems and networks company for a year to gain experience and build a strong knowledge base that would enhance my opportunities in the field of cybersecurity?
Please explain, Is SOC job is doable as entry level position? And what are some entry level position to get skipping the help desk ? I am a bit lost again!
I covered this in numerous videos, have you seen any of my videos? start here and watch the rest please: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-csXVHpDNM4M.htmlsi=I_Gk0IkUXZvtRmyT
I have recently came across your videos and immediately Subscribed. Can we get the name of the sound you are using? It is very motivating to listen to while studying.
Thank you! I am trying to put together a move to another state and go from System admin to CS at the same time. Going to be rough, but I am studying every day to do the best I can.
Hi sir I have career gap 3 years I have completed my google cyber security course and blue team level 1 can I apply for cyber security analyst and I have to know there is a problem in a carer gap ?
please start applying! you can explain the gap as ‘taking care of elderly parents or travel’ . Do these as well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LFlsDm8w36A.htmlsi=Km0X5syPT7RaWHmd
Hello sir, I love your content and the the knowledge you're giving out. I'm a student looking to change my field from business management to cybersecurity but I'm not sure where to start. I was looking for some free resources where I can get idea or training from where I can start and decide if this field is right for me.i would be very grateful if you can help me out here. 😊
best way to ask questions is in the comments, all the help that you need is already in the videos so please watch them if you still need one on one time with me, i have a paid mentorship call (link in the about sectionn of this channel)
Brother, I have done a Linux course, Bash scripting course, CCNA course(Not Cert) from networkchuck. Doing nmap course from Chris Greer udemy. What am I uptill now in my journey? Where do I lie? I need an honest reply.
@@UnixGuy But, I want to be a red teamer and ethical hacker. The courses that you discussed like TCPdump and wireshark are for the defensive sides. Isn't it like that? Plz guide me as it's very important!
I work in IT as Data Recovery Engineer, did the google cert, AWS cloud practitioner. Trying to get into cyber but only got the "you have no experience" after being turned down countless times.
hey mate. you are close to getting a job! you need to add practical projects and some intermediate level certs, this roadmap will help you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zFFMhpCLJi0.htmlsi=ygcnhisOuEDeNQwp
hi, thanks for keeping us motivated. small piece of advise im handling IT for Hotel for the past 10+ years. planning to move to Cyber security kindly advise on the certification.
Hi, I’m Theo from Ghana just completed my 1st degree in graphic design and want to pursue cybersecurity for my cybersecurity.. not really good in mathematics can I enter and if yes what field of cybersecurity is more demanding?
Is it a good idea to get into cloud engineering from EET? Since I am having problems to land a job due my age being in late 30s eventhough I finished my community college 2 years ago while working in some unrelated job in maintaining and calibration electronics. Is there a better fit in IT woth my background or aiming for cloud engineering is fine ?
Hello, I work as a NOC and have 13+ years in technical support, I recently had a "burnout" for the second time in my life, (I'm 37) I have now enrolled in the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, I passed the first course and I aim to complete the program, after that I aimed to start SOC analyst. Will this position not be too heavy considering my recent "burnout"? Any advice, thanks. Great channel.
hey mate, burnout is a very personal thing. People find different things stressful. As far as SOC is concerned, some environments are stressful, others not so much, so it depends! I recommend the usual coping mechanisms of eating healthy, sleeping, regulat exercise and socialising to help with burnout and consider seeking professional if the issue persist!
your question has been answered multiple times and in various videos, please spend the time to watch the videos properly. The google cert will serve as your introduction to the field. If you want to get a job, you need to follow the roadmaps that I laid out in the videos , please watch them.
@@olajumokeopoola4998 please browse the videos yourself, if you’re actually serious about a career in cyber security, get a pen and paper and take notes as well.
I recommend you spend the time to go over my videos, you’ll find most of what you’re looking for in the videos and affter you do that if u still have questions, post them as comments on the relevant videos
