What does the Silk Touch enchantment do in Minecraft? In this video, I show you how to get Silk Touch, how to get a Silk Touch book and how to use Silk Touch on a sword or axe in Minecraft. I go through this in detail, uses, and some interesting properties of Silk Touch in both Bedrock and Java Edition. This is for Minecraft Bedrock and Java Edition 1.17 and later. Silk Touch saves a lot of hassle with things like relocating glass or campfires, but I especially like using it for collecting amethyst clusters & deepslate ores. Also gets more emeralds in farmer trades since I can harvest whole melons.

I use silk touch a lot! Usually on a pickaxe... I hate having silk touch on my axe! If I'm getting wood I always end up with random leaves in my inventory... If I need leaves, I use a silk touch hoe! I also have at least 2 shovels, one with silk touch and one without, depending if I need grass/podzol/mycelium, or normal dirt! Thanks for the video (:

@@xCamiscoolx on my axe... For harvesting melons and not get the slices but the whole melon. On my pick, because when I go caving, it takes less space in my inventory to silk touch the ores than to fortune them :)

just so you know, you dont need silktouch on a hoe to instamine and get leaves, you can just use normal shears, they instamine and drop leaves

If it helps, enchantments are randomized. I'm still learning about enchantment, tbh. But it looks like when he tried to get the silk touch enchantment on the table, all four times it randomized a different result. Then he went to the anvil, which is another way you can enchant items, and it was successful there. In terms of **how** to actually use the anvil and enchantment table...I'm on my way to find more videos about that too to make sure I get it lol. But the enchanted books he mentioned are part of it, etc etc

I’m not sure if this helps now, but in bedrock if you go over an ocean monument with a luck of the sea and lure enchanted fishing rod you’ll be able to pull a silk touch! (Or desert temples) I’ve found many this way but the other way Is a bit more tedious

For the highest level enchants you need at least six bookshelf’s on three sides of the enchantment table. I do 9 each side to be safe. The enchantment table needs to be in the center with only one block between the table and the bookshelves. Then you need at least 38 experience levels to obtain the chance to get fortune or silk touch. That’s highly important! Again, you NEED at LEAST 38 levels, not 30. So if you keep stopping at level 30 to try and get it you’ll never ever see it. Edit: RU-vid recommending this video is weird since I know how to get every single enchantment that you can get out of the enchantment table but maybe it was good for anyone that comes across this video in the future 🤣

No, you only need 15 bookshelves, and you only need 30 levels. I have gotten both fortune and silk touch without your requirements.

Enchantment tables are random and the chance of getting silk touch to appear is unlikely. However, putting bookshelves around your table increased the odds. Anvils only work if you already have the book, go and find it by fishing or exploring a temple if you don’t have it.

So I Use Silk Touch On My Pickaxe And Shovel Because On My Silk Touch Pickaxe I wanted Ore Block So I Decided To Choose Silk touch Over Fortune.

That librarian has the unbreaking II book. It’s not necessary to show it’s the silk touch book, just the action of going to a librarian.

@@JayDeeMC It is necessary to show that it's possible, if it even is possible, which I doubt. I've been trying for days and it DOES NOT WORK. Your video is no different than if I made a video claiming to show that I can fly, but my video was showing a bird flying around the backyard, and then when people said "that's not you flying, that's a bird" I said, "It's not necessary to show that I can fly, just the action of flying" even though my title claimed that my video would show that I can fly. You have to show that it's possible or else the video is worthless clickbait garbage. And as I said, I've been doing it for days, for hours and hours every day, and it DOES NOT WORK.

Easiest way to get a mending enchantment is to get an unemployed villager(not a nitwit with green clothes) and a lectern. You must not have traded with the villager before. Put the lectern to make him a librarian and check if the trade contains a mending book. If not, break the lectern, make him unemployed and make him a librarian again, repeating the process until you get the wanted result. This also applies to other enchanted books.

I did. I showed how to get silk touch very clearly. I didn't actually get silk touch when using the enchantment table because it's random. However, you can get it that way, as I said in the video. Fishing is also random. Loot chests are also random. Librarians can have their trades changed until you get silk touch, then lock the trades. I was very specific about how you can get silk touch and where, but where you find the chests is also something I can't specifically say, as it is random. As for how to use silk touch, I was very clear on that.

Everything in this video applies to both Bedrock and Java Editions. I simply had this tutorial world in Bedrock Edition, which is why I continued using it. I also played Java at the time of this video. So, I will say Minecraft when in Bedrock Edition, even though I actually prefer Java and play it nearly 100% of the time now.
