Amazing how you are the voice of reason!.... just went through this this past week.... was ready to give my cues to my buddy... He said can't improve if u quit!... next day... slowed down, it was my pause at the backswing that was missing..... played fantastic the next day.... thanks again for your common sense approach to the game.

EXCELLENT POINTS...EACH & EVERY ONE. Been shooting horribly lately for some unknown reason (overthinking, playing scared, out of sync etc) and I will use these 5 points on my next match & try to break out of my funk. You need more videos like this that focus on the mental side of the game....which pool ultimately is...esp at the higher levels. Great job. Thxs😂

Me too. Our team just qualified for Vegas. I played pretty terrible but still somehow managed to win 3 times, get to the hill in a loss and win one sudden death game with a ticky and long bank on the 8. Idk, I'm very vulnerable to a good player right now. I've got to start making my balls
@NH_RSA__

Focus indeed. Cataract surgery helped a lot with focus. I found that the two ball is...... blue. And that the two, four, six and eight balls are not totally camouflaged to match the cloth? Also, there is only one of each ball and they are not all surrounded by fog. Focus, yes. One advantage(?) of poor eyesight is your positional skills get a lot better. 'Cause that's about all you got. Apologies for being a bit off topic. Just that "focus" thing...

Hey gang, what are some of the tricks you use to try to get back and stroke?
@SuperGregore
@SuperGregore Год назад
I find myself rushing from time to time. I stop, back up, re-evaluate and then miss an easy shot.. 😉 Over thinking shots, or my perceived pattern has been a big issue for me since I returned to the game.

Thanks for sharing!! Its definitely important to be true to your pace. The strange thing is my pace changes through the night. When I first start the first game I'm literally like an 85 year old man. It can take 6 minutes to bnr. But if i go 12 hours deep I'm running around the table and can break n run in 40 something seconds. But then when I stop playing after that long my heart does some crazy stuff. I dont know, I'm supposed to go get checked for A Fib. But I just want to try to live healthier. Great video buddy for real👍

I just won two out of three at our work lounge against a well known guy, and I was nervous! But I changed my pace on my pause, and I stopped missing easy shots, I pause just like you at 2:30, which I don’t normally do…perfect! I also used “g-warfare” from your vid on beating better players, and it worked! I slowed way down, even did two safeties! Ha! And I shortened my bridge… all from your videos. Man, you’re it! Thanks!

This is a very important point. Sometimes I get to the pool hall all exited and hyper and hit the shots to fast and hard. For me, it's about mellowing out before I practice or compete.

Great advice as usual. Not sure what my own internal shot clock is sometimes when I feel rushed like the pool hall is about to close and I just want to finish the rack I can clear the table quickly. That's not consistent though. And I'm over analytical in everything so my norm is analyzing every single route weighing all the risk reward positions possible leaves and safeties if I miss etc... And 9 times out of 10 still overshooting or coming up short on some leave that puts me in an unideal position for the run out so I have to reanalyze the table again to figure out how to fix my mistake over and over and over again. It really sucks when you're giving ball in hand on an easy run out and you mess it up on a layup shot In a tournament, against a stronger opponent.

I'd say -- Listen to what is being said here! And if practice is just bangin' balls, maybe yer practice needs to be re-focused. ....... The "Pause" is a big one, it does several things; it's a reset of the imagined "shot" --- to execution. :) Words aren't coming to me, so I'll stop. Be Safe

@@FXBilliards so today went and shot couple hrs. First sparring partner won about 6 games , BUT, was really due to his poor shooting, not my shooting. After that match 3 of us began to spar at one table, with the winner staying at the table while one sat out. Finally remembered the 10 second rule and quit studying the shot so much. Relaxed. Stayed at the table 6 games in a row, running a good 4-5 balls at times in 8 ball…lost one game, sat out.. came back and almost ran the rack on 8 ball. Hope I can maintain Thursday 9 ball tournament night! Again Thanks for content

Hey Brian, I have been a fan for a long time now. I have enjoyed and put to use several advice tips you have put out there. This comment is going to be more of a personal issue rather than on this segment. I moved up to a 6 from a 5 in APA two sessions ago and have been playing very strong ,consistent pool. Just today the scoresheet update from last week's play came out and I have dropped back down to a 5. This summer session I am 0-4. As I understand the Apa skill level system determination factor..I still cannot fathom how I can drop down. I practice 3-4 hours a day..whether it be speed control drills to pattern play drills to ghost play. And yet this drop has left me not only embarrassed, but disappointed in myself and confidence has disappeared into the background. Guess what I'm saying is how do I recover from thus and also how do I communicate with you outside of here. Please if at all possible...I could use some encouraging words of wisdom. Thank you in advance. Darryl

I've been meaning to ask you if you think practicing with dead middle cue ball shots is a thing? One of my teachers said I had good aim but my leave was terrible. I eventually learned to use spin for cue ball placement after pocketing or safing a ball. I also learned that even using only middle ball resulted in induced spin on the cue ball and object ball. How often are shots with no spin preferable to using left or right spin? It just seems we need to know the dead center shot well before toying with English. Idk
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
Not as much dead center, but high center and low center. It should be a very rare occurrence that you hit the cue, ball dead center but you should be able to find a spot. Take your tip up about a tip to two tips and you’ll find you have more accuracy and are putting less unintentional spin on the ball.

Hi Brian hope surgery went well! What are your thoughts on cj system of toi. Im trying it & sometimes i love it & sometimea hate it. Frustrating tbh. Should i stick with it. Thanks
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 8 месяцев назад
I don’t like the idea of bashing someone’s system, but the concept Is not special for ordinary position, play. And the more you have to think about while learning or playing the worst off you’re going to be. By the way, insight English is the exact opposite of what we need on 90% of our shots because it adds the wrong type of throw to a shot that is already being thrown away from the pocket as a result of cut induced throw. This is probably the reason for your frustration in trying to use it.
