Bonjour Bryan, I am writing to you from Quebec, the French nation in Canada. PLease be forgiving for my weak English. Thank you so much for this video. I learned the three and the four rail systems about 5 years ago. I am practicing them about 4 times per week, half an hour every time. I use those to get myself out of hooked situations. I make about 30 % of the balls I try to reach and I touch them at least 80% of the times. With this video, I learned to go one big step further and use those routes to touch balls along the road. So far I only use those to touch balls at the end of these routes. Big Big Plus... Now Bryan, I do not play it on the same line than you. I aim at the second diamond past the side pocket for the three railer, as you aim at the first one. I put much more speed and english on my cue ball than you and get to the same results. Now, Am I understanding, Bryan, that I could control two different lines with the same amount of precision?

Dude! The best information online, hands down. I’m a pool fanatic, playing at about 5.5, 6 level and it’s getting better and better. I’ve loved it and played casually for a long time, but now at 52 wonder if with proper training I could do something with it. I appreciate you, sir 🙏🙏

Grew up playing pool at my grandfather's house in the midwest on summer breaks. There were no straight in shots on the 8 allowed on his table. Banking the 8 or 3 cushion kick was it. Learned alot over the years playing with him. To this day at family gatherings the same rules apply! Great instructional video here!

It took me a bit to understand how to use spot on the wall and the 5 point system together as you briefly mentioned but Holy CRAP! I got it figured out. You can find a spot behind the diamond and use it instead of the corresponding diamond from anywhere in the correct "quadrant"... game changer! This will help tremendously until it becomes more intuitive. Thanks again Bryan!!!! Damn good lesson for sure!

wow 40 years ago i learned straight pool from some old timers at a pool hall. i had heard of the 5 3 2 method but never really got it until watching this video. thank u sir, i had shot so much pool when i was young i just naturally got better at banks and 3 rail kick shots. but the shoot through the diamonds and not at the diamonds was an eye opener for me. time to bust out my 30 year old joss stick and get to practicing. thanks again!

Bryan. Man, this is one of the best corner 5 & Spot on the Wall presentations I've witnessed. Sorry bro, I'm definitely going to be stealing the way you presented this. You've been able to pack in so much effectively in such a succinct manner, and in a way to resonates with a wide audience of varied perceptions. Many of your viewers may not realize how much knowledge and experience goes into making presentations so powerful, yet seemingly simple. Not much different than any pro that makes a difficult process appear "easy" and graceful. 10 out of 10 Bryan!

Since last month when I saw this, I used the “candy” shot you showed at 12:40 !!! Eight ball was sitting on short rail at first Diamond from pocket; he scratched! They all thought I was messed up. I did it! I hit the 2 Diamond, to adjust it, and it came around, kissed the eight ball gently and it rolled slow motion right in!!! They all dropped their jaws and I just said, “What?” They just looked at each other… hahahaha…

I trust Bryan can provide a kicking system for a cue ball wherever its location & its target. "Spot on the wall" leads a shooter's mind, along with their eyes, away from the game. A shooter is against themselves with what's ON THE TABLE. Attention remains on the table while shooting, irregardless of whatever may be moving around or in the way of a "spot on the wall." Don't limit yourself. How often are kick shots started "in" or even near "the pocket", let alone require a 3-rail reference? Additional information & examples are required to sustain the video title.

I love your videos and always learn something from them, but I do have 1 question: When you set up the last shot with the 2 balls on the 1st diamond on the side rail and then did a masse to avoid the side pocket because "there is a pocket at the #4 diamond" how is that the case when the diamond would be at the back of the pocket and from the corner that line would hit the side rail, not the pocket itself? What am I missing?
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
If I understand your question- the diamond would actually be in the pocket, and if the pocket is large enough, he would need a Messe to avoid hitting the edge of the pocket. I hope that helps.

@micheller-f6566 Год назад
First of all I would like to say you seem like you are in a very good mood in this video.. it was a pleasure listening. 😁 But I do wish I would have seen this yesterday!! The last couple months I have not been able to do any tournaments and very little practice so I had the opportunity today to go, every Sunday they alternate between 8 and 9 ball. it's supposed to be 8 ball and they're talking about what you do if you tie .. 10 ball, which I have never played. When they called my name I heard the table but not my opponent, it was one of my local idols, a Hall of famer..so I was extremely nervous and I think out of both matches I had four straight shots the rest were all at least two rails. But my question is do you have to use the diamonds? Does everyone have to use them, I feel like it's the same as school kids, they don't all learn the same. About a year ago I started going out and shooting by myself and of course you can't shoot 8 ball every time so I started my own game all the balls are neutral and there are no straight in shots everybody all has to be either a combo of two or more and or a bank. And it's in the kitchen unless the bottles off the table on scratches. So I've had a lot of banking experience in the last year and I never once instinctively looked to the diamonds not one time. When someone asks if they give me some pointers and they start looking at the diamonds I instantly zone out and not intentionally. But, if I want to improve from where I am and actually maybe win a couple against my idol should I forget what I've taught myself about the angles, start over with the diamonds ? So I'm up no clean shot. Say I'm on the 3 ball I'll look from the cue ball to the 3 to see about how to get to it, it what my options are and then I don't look at the cue ball again I focus on the 3 ball and where I want to leave it. I feel practice strokes would throw me off..
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
The reality is I shoot kick shots intuitively- BUT if you do that, you are STILL using then as a reference whether you know it or not. No you don’t need a system- but yes you use them. Try covering up the diamonds and shooting bank shots. It will be eye opening.
@micheller-f6566
@micheller-f6566 Год назад
@@FXBilliards so do you think I'm subconsciously looking at the diamonds? And by the way I tell people all the time about how they could improve their game 20%. Lol some people are very adamant that they will never use a bridge, I don't understand that at all but I'm short so I don't really have an option especially when I'm on the wrong side of the table
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
Yes, It's like the lines on a tennis court and even a basketball court. You are not LOOKING at them but they are, giving you a reference nevertheless. I dont use systems for banks in real time (but I teach it for others.) BUT if you removed the diamonds, things change. There are examples in many areas of sports. It's the reason major league players have a hard time hitting balls without laces on them and race care drivers would crash into the wall without lines on the circuit. Broad examples but I'm sure you get the point.

Ok, fantastic video, absolutely loved it!! I am new to your channel and so far have really enjoyed watching you. Thank you for all your hard work!! Now, I like this #5 system. And will watch it again and take notes to get it down. The last "special" shot has me confused, however, and you spoke really fast so I didn't understand what you said/meant. The balls were on the rail at the fist diamond by the corner pocket. You said you needed to come over one spot. So how did you get 5-3=2?? How did you know it was 3? That's where I'm confused. So you always use 5 for this if the cb is lined up straight in the corner, correct? . If the cb isn't straight in the pocket then you use the spot on a wall?

Is the cube ball is in the pocket in the object ball is a diamond away then you adjust by shooting a diamond higher or lower on your first rail you can you spot on the wall when the cue ball is not sitting in the pocket to get back to the other pocket.

I’ve seen some instructors refer to the side pocket as 3 1/2 instead of 4. Why the difference?
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 6 месяцев назад
I think you might be talking about pocket size- there are different pocket sizes for different tables. Not too many are going to be 3 1/2 inch.

Umm okay, think i am getting it. But then why are you using side english? Wont that change the trajectory
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards 6 месяцев назад
Every multi rail kick system is designed for running english. Without it, the ball stalls off the rail and does not run its path correctly. These systems come from 3 cushion billiards. But...very good question.

Bryan. I am a 340 rating and I try to play this system at my local pool hall and it isn’t working. I can get back to the corner pocket only from the second diamond. So, how do I adjust this system on 7 ft tables
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
Not all tables run true- it’s up to you to find which diamond leads from one pocket off of three rails to the next and adjust from there. Even the weather can change the location on a table.

@FXBillliards is there a cue that can be used for breaking and shooting? I used to shoot all the time and I'm looking to start back up and I'm empty handed on a cue. House cues are junk in my area.
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
Actually, any cue could be used for breaking and playing. For most amateur players, the break isn’t important enough to justify a designated cue because they don’t run out often and their competition doesn’t run out often. But it would be nice to have a separate cue in case you lose a tip or you’re such a big breaker that you might break the actual cue. In the meantime, I would say, get a good playing cue and either a cheap break cue or use a house cue to break.

Yes. All tables are twice as long as they are wide so the math is the same.

Question. As you are hitting the cue ball at 1oclock aiming for diamond 3, do you allow for cue ball deflection or just aim at the diamond?
@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Год назад
That might be one of the best questions I have ever gotten. I intuitively adjust for deflection on all shots with english, so I would have to answer that I aim for the diamond and do not consciously adjust. Thanks for watching and thanks for your question.
