Very helpful, by the way I have a tip YOU now. When using an adaptive chest. You can pause with escape between the cycles so you can carefully see what item is there and if it's worth it. Yea it *may* be cheating but, the game one shots you, you shouldn't fell too bad.
Honestly, although woolie has a pretty decent viewership, i think he's underrated if i consider his personality and content. But if he keeps this up he'll eventually get the viewership size he actually deserves. Mr. Streamer in case you are reading this, know that i really rate you! widepeepoHappy
it will all be worth because hes putting in alot of effort into risk2 content during early access, so when it gets fully released and gets much more popular, he will have already consolidated himself as an authority figure in risk2 content creating.
I literally had a run with a friend yesterday where we got (well guess he carried) to stage 8 Monsoon and i literally, no joke, only had 1 damage item. A freaking tri tip dagger. As engineer.
@@kingcalibur413 Obviously not. We both had roughly 50% of the items, and we do consistantly get good runs on monsoon. However, this just goes to show how much rng can fuck you over at times. Having one damage item drop in 8 stages is just ridiculous bad luck.
I've gotten my skin for commando in multiplayer when stuck aroumd with one guy that had like 200 hours, for like first loop and some he was carrying untill I got the exploding shots..and I was playing as a commando...aaand ofc....we could choese items...still the run almost eneden like 4 times with the highlight with me being at 4 hp getting screwed by the clay thinbhies that was fun
My girl friend and I bought Risk of Rain the day it came out on the Nintendo Switch. We got wooped all the way until we found your videos on youtube. We have been unlocking loadouts and skins for characters and are excited for our first god run on monsoon. Thank you for the informational and funny videos woolie. Great RU-vidrs can make the audience feel like they're in the same room as them and you do that every single video.
One thing I don't think he mentioned, but is a good thing for learning players to know. If you find any chest, you can figure out the prices of all other chests on the stage. A normal chest/normal multi-shop/equipment barrel will cost 1x. Damage/healing/utility chests will cost 1.2x. large chests, Green multi-shops, and roulette chests will cost 2x. I am sure the starting price for the shrine of chance and legendary chests also have a slimier thing going on here, but I don't know the numbers off the top of my head.
Whoah, I literally just closed the game after dying on Stage 3 on Monsoon for the fifth time in a row to look up something like this, and here it already was in my Subs feed. Thank for this!
Just recently unlocked all skins and all abilities. The final skin being commando and last ability being mercs slicing winds. You guides have been a massive help. Mainly the tip of just mostly skipping floor 1 to 3. To few enemies spawn there warrant staying there. Appreciate the guides man. Cheers.
I was legit just watching first you monsoon guide to try and get better, and after trying commando om monsoon for a 1 hour more, I got mad went on RU-vid and saw this, you timing is impeccable.
first of all, 22:16 !preon 2nd or more is takes of the day: early game mountain shrine good early game blood shrine good early game barrel good be safe when opening adaptive chests get to stage 3 in 9 minutes max preon will always have lights next to it you can climb the hills on rallypoint the backup drones can draw aggro off stage 4 always has green multishops so its ok to farm there agressive>passive you can hind behind the teleporter arcs from any attacks that need LOS if brass contraptions are stunned while attacking, they finish their attack lemme know if i missed anything.
honestly i really liked this kind of video. really focused and talking about your thought process was entertaining. more shortish videos like this would be great
whenever I need some info about anything in RoR2 I always end up on your channel looking for it, thank you for all the help my guy, keep up the good job.
i just got this game a month ago, and it is already on my top 2 easy! i am so in love with this game. i'm so happy to find great videos like yours that talks about the one thing i love at the very moment!!!
ive been recommended this video for a bit now but was a bit hesitant because i assumed you'd be super loud and over edited, but i was very pleasantly surprised! thanks for the video, all of this information really helps out a lot, will definitely be checking out your streams soon.
thank you for posting this video. some of us are not able to catch your stream, so we follow everything you do via youtube. This has answered a lot of questions I would have asked while you were on stream :)
Your so cool! I like how you value our opinion and play style when your talking about tips and when your doing videos like this your going through it with us so we understand
As helpful as always in my opinion. It also felt more relatable by including examples, which was a plus for me. Even tho i knew most things by my own experience or your videos, things like the indicators for the preyon chests are useful new information
This vid hopped across my feed while I was playing a monsoon run. While Woolie was talking about how important it is to get to stage 3 at 10 mins for the preon, I decided to stay on stage two for an extra 30s to farm an equipment barrel. It had a preon in it 😂 It made sense in context, I got double warhorns from a mountain shrine and had no equipment
I would love videos like this, going over Survivor abilities and showing how they work and how they could be used. I'd also enjoy a run up to stage 7 (and obliteration). BTW, love your videos, I am constantly referencing them to improve my own game play.
I wish I would have watched this video a long time ago. I saw an earlier video were you recommended a 4-4.5 minute pace per stage and I’ve followed that to some good success. Highest stage a 14 at this point. I didn’t know you farmed levels starting at stage 4. I would have liked to see that but I can probably figure it out. Thanks for all of your videos and tips!
Yeah I really don't understand this. He was so close to dying, and there was a nearby lemurian that could have killed him with a fireball. Feel like I'm missing something here.
I've found his advice about damage being better than defense early on to be pretty true. The one exception I'd say is that ONE medkit makes a huge difference. I used to think of medkits as an item which healed back a portion of your health from big hits and that's not their main use. They heal back a large portion of your life from even minor damage. So get grazed by a Titan's laser and lose 10 hp? Touch an elite beetle's fire trail for half a second? Take the slightest bit of fall damage from a hard landing? Huge chunk of your lifebar refills. They're not a damage mitigation item, they're a healing item. One medkit removes your reliance on base regen for healing and makes a big difference.
I like the live explanation alot while you're playing cause you're more of entertainer on stream, thumbs up very helpful especially on the teleporter times to swap maps
THANK YOU! Commando has been so hard for me to obliterate on Monsoon, and I was always playing range with him. I'm gonna play in your face next time I play, hopefully I finally get the skin! I have pretty much every other skin so this has been lingering for me lol I need to finish it
"perfect exemple" has an insanely lucky start XD most of the time I'm happy just to see multishops on the first map.... also try double vagrants as acrid, especially with no useful item on the first map... its usually a run ender. Can't melee, and poison does pitiful damage on its own
I actually stopped playing commando because he takes a lot of time to kill enemies, and I don't have the shotgun so I have to rely on the single bullet shot.
@@colbyboucher6391 bruh that sounds like you're not playing her right she's got INSANE early game damage, it should be easy on the first loop. maybe you need to be more aggressive.
great video! I'd love to see more in this style. it's very helpful! also, I would love some achievement guides. both for general challenges and individual survivor abilities.
I have seen a lot of people who don’t know this, but using a blood shrine or killing an enemy in the last few frames of teleporting will net you a little bit of gold on the next stage which might help
even if the teleporter itself is out of sight, the teleporter area has yellow particles which you can distinguish even in brownish/red maps like abyss and scorched
hey Woolie! you should try the Deluvian mod. its a fourth difficulty setting with 150% damage taken, more enemy armor and more spawn tickets for mobs so you get some insane runs. also! the RPG mod is also amazing if you disable ingame spawns. You can tick a check box in the mod manager and the mod disables all shops and world spawns and it makes enemies drop items and you get challenges that if you complete them you get the reward directly in your inventory. Combining the two mods is MAD FUN!!!
I only will pick up drones in the first couple stages, well mostly turrets. Depends on if I plan on farming the stage, but they'll help me make more money as I have multiple points on the stage with enemies dying. or if I get Spare Drone Parts, actually not too bad with a lot of drones.
If you are trying to get the skins by obliterating here's what I did. -use artifact of command -stack a few crit glasses and Teddy bears as well as some scythes -get a red item and choose ceremonial daggers -grab crowbars and will-o-wisps That's the basic outline for the survivor's I used and it carried me to get my skins all solo. I changed some stuff depending on the survivor, like stacking some medkits on rex, bronze mirrors on loader etc

Me: Farming in Runescape while watching Woolie: I highly recommend NOT farming... You're not my dad!
The biggest issue with farming is when it becomes a habit. You can think, "Oh, it's just 30 seconds" and yes, 30 seconds by itself is insignificant, but if you make a habit out of it throughout the run that 30 seconds will easily stack minutes which can eventually make a run overpower you. It's always safer to avoid loitering because at a certain point in the run you won't have to loiter to get those things. The only way farming is a beneficial is if the tool obtained is a DPS gain that will easily earn that time back. For instance, if you run into a multishop with atg/ukelele/(possibly) Will O' The Wisp, that might be worth farming for due to the possible benefit to the ultimate speed of the run.
Another thing I seem to forget to do is account for how much damage a boss / enemy deals when I take damage minimising damage taken is fine, but knowing what you can survive to get from point A - B can be a real life saver E.G Knowing if I can not focus that wisp for 0.2s and take the hit to get behind cover from a Wandering Fragrance, or if I'd die to the Wisp instead
I'd like to point out that if you are confident in your abilities, or have a friend to play with, farming *is* a valid tactic all the way up to the first Celestial portal. My general rule is: allow 5 minutes or less on the first stage, then 3 or less until the Celestial. After that, it's all meta game. Remember that advancing to the next stage *also* increases difficulty, so if you're capable of fending off harder enemies without much in the way of items, consider scouring the first Stage for as much as you can. Preon will not be necessary. Monsoon isn't as unforgiving in RoR2 as it was in RoR. You *will* have time to farm if you're comfortable with the character you are playing and can use them to their fullest potential. That said, when you have two or more extra players... Definitely consider some rushing.
Excellent video. I ve been watching your vids for a while and I meant to ask:how do you feel about doing an early(ish) teleporter on each stage so you can cut down on the farming and use the teleporter increased spawn/boss to get the money for most of the chests on the map. I ve been using this tactics for a while now and it's proven very effective for me.I just farm for the vital items(tri shop with damage items) that I find and the rest I usually buy with teleporter money.Would love to hear your thoughts.
I've heard a good means of doing this is checking out what's near the teleporter first, but leave anything less than ten seconds away for after doing the teleporter, then go open some other chests and such in the level. Go for around 2-3 minutes before activating teleporter and get all the stuff near it as quick as you can. Rinse and repeat on stage 2, 3 and 4.
@@orkazzz2733 Well,I usually spend up to 2 mins per stage looking for useful chests(tri stores or offensive chests) in the perimeter of the map, then I go farm the boss. So earlyish would be about 1:30 minutes in the stage boss fight. It works well, especially on the early stages since you skip a few difficulty bumps and the bosses are easier as a result.
Me: I think I'm going fast enough. I can do mastery runs semi-reliably with everyone but commando so- Woolie: **Super Sonic Racing, clears stage 1 in 2 minutes** Me: :o NEVERMIND IM TOO SLOW.
"Oh okay yeah I like this advice, it's helpful stuff for consistent loops." **dies before loop on stage 4** "Well shit I guess I'm not ever gon be doing that" lol
Even professionals aren't immune to spaghetti. Funny enough, I actually felt a bit of relief seeing an elite elder lemurian spawn where yhe died, just because of those three guillotines and elders are manageable at a distance. Never forget your kit and capabilities, and strengths and weaknesses of your foes.
Tips for someone that consistently dies on stage 6 on monsoon? My GF plays huntress while I play Acrid, we consistently die on stage 6. Stage 5 is relatively easy stage 6 turns into a mess almost on start.
How long do you stay on stage 5? I know woolie said you can farm after your first loop but I wouldn't recommend taking too much time (let's say around 8 mins max) per stage. I assume time/difficulty scaling is your issue.
1:20 if newt alters don't bypass restrictions, it means sometimes players will be forced to have either speed or movement items to be able to reach them. Considering they give really powerful items, it seems fair to make it so not every run they are completely easily accessible. My guess why they didn't bother changing their spawn locations
Woolie your awesome man, i wish i could play with you on the Switch man, we would have a godly run. Im very tactical like you and consider all those subtle variable. I just wish the game will eventually have an ending or a story.
I disagree with you on the drones. Healing drones are very useful for first 1-3 loops because they just cost a little bit of money and can be your only option to heal in some scenarios. Other drones are only good if you have healing drones to keep them alive
Hey! Great video. I was wondering, since playing close to enemies is usually the better option (since it makes it easier to avoid many attacks, especially from Golems, while ensuring high dps, like you said with Commando) does that mean that melee classes, given they're balanced appropriately, should generally be better? The only threat I can obviously see is stuff like wisps, but if they have the tools for that, should that playstyle be preferable? I hope we either see a new "true" melee survivor or we get like, Miner (who you'd love) or something. You've said that Acrid and Loader are basically ranged; since Loader gets more speed from being far away and relies on her third skill for damage, and Acrid wants to poison and avoid enemies, especially with her oversized hitbox. But it seems like part of Mercenary's dominance is that he plays so close to enemies and has the tools to expand on the value of that, being able to easily move in front of or behind enemies rapidly and "float" inside of bigger enemies. Its interesting, because it was also the case in the first game; I'm pretty sure Loader, Hand-e, Merc, Miner and Acrid were better than the ranged survivors as a general rule. It goes to show how good the design is that even in a game where arguably the most dangerous enemy is the flying wisps that melee can so effectively fit into the playstyle.
How to die consistently in your first Loop. :) It was pretty informative anyway, especially the part about dieing.. maybe a complete voiceover a successfull first loop? Love your Content, bro!
My Risk of Rain 2 is proken on PS4. Title screen has nothing on but the D-Pad acts as if it’s scrolling as the cursor will go away. So the buttons are basically invisible and this only happened after I saved it to the cloud save thinking it’d be ok. I’ve deleted the saved data from online storage already and uninstalled and reinstalled multiple time. Does anyone know how I could fix this?
You've never talked about what levels actually do. Is it worth not buying a drone if your money would convert into another level? Does level increase damage or only give a little bit of max HP?
Levels do give damage, the rate of increase is survivor dependent so check the logs if you want to know exactly how much it can affect a choice. As for ignoring drones, it mainly comes down to time needing to be tight in the early levels and items being generally more reliable in the first place. You could arguably pick up a drone here or there if it doesn't impact your early game time at all and you didn't have any chests that you could've picked up nearly as quick before going to the next level. And heck, even shown here drones (especially healing) can improve how a level goes if it fits a hole your current item build shows, but still think of it as time>items>drones in the early, so never sac the other two for a drone.
