Thank you for breaking this down, you made it really clear and simple. I graduate next year with a degree in Computer Information Science, have a passion for kids. Although I was gearing towards working in technology I realized I could also work as a technology teacher as well and I am exploring this option. So big thank you, every other video has been overly complicated but you broke it all the way down. You are an excellent teacher! Big appreciation.
Great content! I am so excited to teach Spanish! I completed my bachelor's degree while living in my car; I spent the better part of 5 years traveling around Latin America, and I became fluent in Spanish at 25 years of age. I am currently enrolled in an alternative teaching program to teach Spanish, but as I will be around 8 months to get into the classroom, I've decided to get my CDL. A company will be paying for my training and I will be creating videos during the process and sharing as much as I can for everyone else out there interested in driving! I begin on the 31st. I would like to teach now, but I have not been able to find any districts that will allow me to teach without a license. For reference, I'm in Ohio! Take care.
Wow, you are amazing! Thank you for sharing this. I can tell you are both passionate and knowledgeable about what you do. I am sure you are loved in the classroom and the charter school you work for is lucky to have you!
I just graduated with my BA in Speech Language Pathology and a few months before I graduated I got accepted into a Teaching Fellowship for a charter school. I’m accepted. I was a para in for NY dept. of Ed. For a few years and now I’m officially moving on to teaching.
OK awesome I have 5 years working with kids in daycare, but my bachelors degree is in management, but i did not like daycare as much because it became stressful because we had to deal with so much and got paid so little and that's the only thing that bothered me because my life outside of work became expensive . but i was in it for five years because i was very creative and i know how to deal with kids and create a fun but structured classroom setting
Do you live in New York ? I’m not sure how other states work but in New York you can get a job at most charter schools with any bachelors degree . You can be an elementary teacher and the pay is pretty competitive so it will be pretty much on par with what certified teachers make in nyc . Sometimes more
Yes I can agree with you hun. Working in the childcare field is fun but very tiring and little pay. Just like you, I have my bachelors degree in professional studies and have over 9 years of experience working with kids as well as 1 year as a cheerleading coach. This video was very helpful! Because I didn’t want to go back to school if I already have my degree and experience and always had a passion working with kids .
I have researched this in my state Florida and boy it is complicated... I have a degree, but this would be a second career and they have a bazillion requirements and exams it seems.
Karen, I am so thankful for this video. I have a part time degree BA English Literature, not from the US. Will that still help me get into special needs teaching? I have years of expertise in part time teaching, and was thinking of educating myself in special needs education by taking a master in this field? I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks again.
Ma’am I’ve worked in the daycare inside of my High School while I was a student there for extracurricular activities! I was apart of programs called TAFE and Project seed where we went on filed trips and taught elementary students! I’m 20 btw and I just a degree in Digital Cinematography (film). You think I can still become a teacher with such an odd degree in my hobby? 👀 I wanna teach High School
So do you possess a teaching license? I also have a bachelor's in Psychology and I am looking at charter schools but they say in order to apply you need to have a license.
My school doesn’t require it . Not all schools do . I live in New York so it could be a New York thing. But you can look at schools you want to apply to and read their requirements , not all schools require it .
Have you looked into an alternative certification program? I have a psychology degree and I am about to start an alternative certification program to get a teaching cert.
Hi - I live in Portland, Oregon...how can I develop contacts. Would a request for time with principals be appropriate? (to discuss my interests and explore possibilities).
Great video; I have a BA in history, and am attempting to teach "History through Art and Architecture" in a county school system, but there are so many challenges barring my way, not being an education major. So it seems like to me that a charter school is likely the way to go. I am not "young", but I am an educated and mature individual. I now have my "certificate of Eligibility" but that is it, so far. I liked what you had to say, and I thank you. I just recommend you change the title of your video to a grammatically correct one.
Hi I am doing major early childhood education I have question after completion of the associate degree in early childhood education. District school hired as a teacher or need bachelor degree
Most likely, just check with the state board and look around at teacher job descriptions. Some schools, especially private, may not care as much, but some may have higher requirements.
Look at the are requirements. You may just need a licence, so then get your degree in a higher demanding teacher field like special education or private sector job, so you're not scraping looking for a job because the field is oversaturated with job applicants.
@@karensandiego education degree could be taken in many ways especially if you are NEW to the education game. So that's the feedback. Glad you made the video though.
