How to get into and start your Jaguar F Type when the battery is completely dead

Hello, Great video, however Jaguar Forums in the Uk say do not Jump start or trickle charge at the battery in the boot. You should jump start from the Terminals under the bonnet that you correctly showed in your video, and trickle charge from a Juntion box live terminal and earth, located in the boot under a cover that you did not remove during your video. The reason is it can fry the computer brain.

Hey, thanks for the video! My F-Type was completely dead and your video helped me get back in. Two things, the alarm goes off once you put a jumper on so have the remote handy and 2, it is a bit tough to get the blade key back out. You need to turn it counter clock wise to remove it.

Thanks so much. I had to use two sets of jumper cables to get my car started again. Without your video I wouldn’t have known about being able to that. I don’t know there were leads up front. I knew the battery was in the trunk but wasn’t sure where or how to access it. Thanks for posting this!

Thank you so much! I bought a battery charger and maintainer and it's been such a worthy investment! I just didn't know where everything was on my F-Pace (everything is around the same place, but the positive terminal is a bolt instead of a flat hinge). This was an absolute life saver! (Just in case: it's the 12v/6v, 4 AMP Battery Charger from Battery Tender and it's the one that is able to switch between AGM/Lithium batteries)

Thank you for a clear and accurate presentation. I have a 2017 F Type and got everything working as a result. I bought a trickle charger and a new set of Jump Cables because the standard cable Jaws are too large to use on the negative terminal on the Battery in the Boot. The placing of the -ive terminal and the design are not conducive to an easy fix. Once again many thanks.

A few things to note. Jaguar totally screwed the pooch on this dead battery issue. Their repair/service manual, not the owners manual; says to never connect to the battery directly while connexted in the car because that can damage the modules the car uses to manage the battery and syart/stop. Mine was just dead after being on vacation. I connected a battery teick chagrer and it still died. I found I had to connect my jump pack up front and i have about 4 seconds where the lights blink to run to the back and hit the trunk pop button. Then diconmect the battery and charge it up while completely diconnected from the car. Jumping it or charging inside the trunk supposedly damages it and the car will not let you start it. At least this is the case right now on my 2017. As i type this the battery is charging up. Hoping no problems once charged. Also, it helps to put contact electeical grease on the positive terminal up front to keep it clean and ready. I found mine was not making good contact.

Question: I have a 2014 F-Type S V8. It only sat for maybe two weeks or less and didn’t start. It keeps saying low battery so I get some electricity in the car including the screen. I jump started it easily under the hood to the fuse box. I let it sit for 10 minutes and then drove 20 minutes to Auto Zone. I parked and turned the car off assuming I just need a new battery. The kid puts in the brand new battery and not only won’t it start but it won’t even jump start. The older gentleman that works there came out to help and he tested everything and doesn’t understand why it won’t start. I said I just jump started to get over here why would a brand new battery be worse. In fact the car electrical system was acting up worse than before including the windows went down and I couldn’t work them or lock the car. He said it must be the alternator and ultimately I had to get a tow truck home. Today I can still unlock the car with the remote and open the trunk. It has some electrical inside and still says low battery and won’t start. What do you suggest is the issue?

Given that I have no juice at all, how you open the rear hatch to access the battery compartment ? Also to install the new battery, it seems I will need to remove additional panels to access, any thoughts regarding that process ? THANKS for your insights !!!

Found my battery was dead, fortunately it was parked in my garage, and didn’t have a clue how to properly access the manual key opening

I always thought there were two batteries in my car. One at the front for starting and one at the rear for start and stop. In fact everything comes from behind? The front is just the calculator? How do you get into the trunk with the key manually? It says to the side of the license plate light is a tumbler but I have opened all the options which are not tumblers!

Thanks ,I have a 2017 f type but the lL shape gos up not down and i was able to get in car .I'm not happy with the dealer that sold me this car and if I were not macanicly inclined I would be in trouble 20 k on this very nice care but I found battery covers off on car when I lifted hood and new something wasent right .low battery alert came up on dash ,let car set for three day and this is what I got .well I'll replace the battery mysekf and will be talking to this high end sales man at this high end dealership .🥵
