Ball of Dark Energy: farm winterberries in Bitterfrost Frontier, buy the undewater respirator from the Quaggan vendor, salvage it with the ascended tool (costs 1 gold and laurels): you get the cube. buy the matrix and now you have the Ball at very cheap costs. And yes, PvP is fantastic for legendaries: I got my 3 full sets there + The Ascension and Trascendence.
@@CaffeinatedDad Yeah, is great because the respirator is the underwater version of an ascended helm and has a 100% chance to drop the cube, not like the acended trinkets which have a very low %. In the past I used to craft and salvage ascended shield but that was like burning 40-50 gold coins, whereas the respirator cost near to nothing...
@@CaffeinatedDad My husband actually did it a little bit faster by combining both the pvp & wvw legendary together. It let him make 2 pieces at a time.
you can buy obsidian shards for 2.1k karma each from the shrine of balthazar in Orr. Do NOT buy them with laurels or any other method for these - it's nearly criminally worse than just buying them with karma. It's ridiculously easy to get hundreds of obby shards this way. Just need to spawn the merchant. Check the wiki on that. That's how I fund all of my obsidian shards - it made karma go from mostly useless to one of the more relevant currencies for me.
@@arkdesign9517 and what do you do with the excess obby shards? I'm always crafting legendaries (It's the only thing I focus my whole account on atm) and I never run out of them tbh. To me it would be like converting 1 useless currency into another.
When you try to craft mystic clovers at the mystic forge you end up with T6 materials if you fail so I'd say it is still worth trying if you miss some.
According to my calculations, it takes about 175 hours of queueing for ranked PvP to get the time-gated materials to build one full set of legendary armor. This includes queue time waiting for a game, and game time itself. It assumes you are Platinum ranked, which isn't too hard to achieve if you use a meta build and try hard. This estimate does NOT include time spent farming extra gold, which may also be required.
First of all thank you for the video. As I'm doing the PVP leggie armor myself, I have to admit, this is maybe not the fastest way to do it. I already have the torso and the leggings but Ias I'm doing the shiny version of the armor and as I'm restricted due to the ascended shards, I'm bound to wait and to wait...4800 Ascended shards are not obtained that quick but it is one of the easiest with the WvW armor that I'm also doing atm :) anyway thanks again for this video
happy to help! i feel like this is the fastest way due to not needing a group of players to assist for raiding! ive also taken a much more passive route for all this gear lol
Got a full legendary set grinding sPVP from late August to early December last year. Even got all the achievements and tickets I needed for the legendary back piece too, but I want to make Ad Infinitum instead, lol.
PvP intimidates me too much to try so I went with Raid Legendary armor. As far as my favorite leggy weapon I love Quip for the silliness of it and Eternity because it changes looks based on the day/night cycle.
it... is something to be sure. i know quite a few people who dont pvp at all because of the idea of performing in front kf of other players puts too much stress on whats suppose to be fun gameplay. totally understandable!
I am pretty new and fairly intimidated by all higher content fear of disappointing my teammates for PVE and fear of getting cussed out for pvp. Feel fine playing WvW though.
Well, I totally approve that you encourage ppl to try PvP, but to say it is the fastest way to get legendary armour is a bit too far-fetched. I did one piece of it in PvP and then switched to raiding. I was grinding PvP for over a month to get that one piece and you need at least 3 seasons to get full set, whereas in raiding you can get full set in minimum of 6 weeks, and it's not nearly as grindy - just find a group that you can reliably do raids every week with. Ofc you should always pick the game mode you prefer first if you're not in a hurry.
true! you are correct if you can find a group! typically its easier for new players to get into pvp versus trying to figure out the ins and outs of raiding (although emboldened mode helps).
It appears you can purchase the Cube of Stabilized Dark Energy (instead of crafting it) if you have the ball of dark energy and 75 stabilizing matrix from a vendor named Lyhr in the wizards tower in the secrets of the obscure expansion - you just need 10 globs of ectoplasm in addition. Just in case you’re like me and haven’t leveled a crafting skill to 500 yet.
Similar deal for the gift of fangs/claws/etc. Either level artificer/huntsman/weaponsmith to 400 along with the crafting recipe for each gift, or spend an extra 10 globs of ectoplasm at Lyhr at the wizard's tower.
You can also work WvWvW legendary armor to help get a full set quicker. Great video can confirm best way to get legendary armor in Guild Wars 2 . I made all 3 weight classes using PvP & WvWvW methods . Buy orders work for the materials if your not in a rush. As far as PvP just play a class you have fun on. Win or lose your getting pips from the season towards what currency you need . It was easier to complete before Arena Net time gated with the seasons. Juggernaut was my first legendary. Took a year to get those lousy silver doubloons . Hope for generation 2 . Still haven't made my Generation 3 one. Maybe this year ? Thanks for walk through on acquisition of the legendary armor from PvP.
oh if you implement other game modes you can get all the legendary gear super quick! the pips can come slow or fast depending on skill! oof im working on juggernaut right now should i be concerened? lol
best legendary for me is the legendary shortbow the dreamer, because i like being annoying, and also it is really flashy. geting full legendary pvp armour took a lot of time!! hahaha, for sure, but remember that the level 100 rank version is a lot more expensive and time consuming.
@@CaffeinatedDad i agree it is really annoying, but that is why i build it, because i wanted everyone to see me. so if you see a revenant in ranked pvp games with the dreamer, that is probably me hahahahha.
I like the pvp method as it's more casual then wvw and raid. Even if it might take longer to do. Much harder to stomach pvp now then it was back in season 5 since their isn't enough avg. Players in pvp now lol
ive heard a lot of people say studd similar to this, pvp has gotten a bad wrap that imo isnt deserved fully. yes there are some bad eggs but by and large they are more good people
Not mentioned in your video: If you put an infusion or rune in there, take them out if you want to keep them because once you craft your legendary piece, bye bye rune and infusion still in the item🙃
The Binding of Ipos is my favorite legendary weapon. I've been opting for the WvW armor since I play that more, but man, it takes me forever to get the 1095 Skirmish Claims Tickets for the Legendary War Insight required for each piece.
i have mine thru WvW also, in 6 a 7 months you can make it, 1 piece a month, just get youre max tickets a week, use youre boosters etc goodluck with it, its deff worth it!
@@hk015 Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to get max each week. I usually get through Platinum. I'm also trying to get both light and medium armor. So... ignore the fact I've just started playing Guardian again...
thats what ive heard! heavy hat was telling me about how long it took. wvw is fun but imo it is the most grindy out of the end game modes.i suppose that was faster earlier in gw2 history
to be fair; the fastest way to get a full set or 3 sets of light med and heavy leggy gear, is by doing all methods, because all methods are capped; wvw has a max weekly skirmish tickets, pvp has a max league tickets per league, raids have a weekly reward cap on legendary insight drop once per week per raid.
@@CaffeinatedDad it is doable but yes.. let's say if you have a 40 hours job but no family to take care of and not much other hobbies then just wvw and pvp is still reasonably achievable. (or raids and pvp maybe but I'm not into raids so can't say)
By not changing the stats do you mean, once you equip it for the first time and you choose lets say Berserkers stats, you CANNOT change it again to a different stat?
ufff i still remember change all 5 pieces of my set to another stadistic, was so sad when i read that i can turn in legendary and have to write a ticket to arenanet whit enought prove and i can get back
So you can equip the ascended precursor, select the stats initially and still use it to craft a legendary? You just can’t change the stats after youve selected them the first time?
Me and my son just started playing he’s 10 he’s trying to grind to get eternity he talks about it ALL day long his gamer name is “Dead Pockets” if anyone that’s a baller reads this and wants to make a 10 year old go crazy don’t think we will be getting it anytime soon just got to lvl 80 myself
My problem is the vouchers... I don't expect to reach a point where I can be so good to win the monthly tourney or even reach 4th place... Is there any other way?
The emphasis on speed here is misleading considering PvE armor is much faster. PvE can be completed in 10 weeks, whereas PvP takes 3 seasons (avg 8 weeks EACH).
@@CaffeinatedDad The league tickets. Byzantium repeatable chest doesn't continue giving tickets each completion which only allows 110 tickets per season (100 through reward track + 10 from llama) out of the 300 needed. e: that bit aside; this is your first vid youtube brought me. your engagement had me take a look around. great content and love the way you break down your videos and present info. sub +1!
@Veruzian hey I appreciate it! Perhaps I should have elaborated further as I was talking about getting a single piece not a full set. I do appreciate your feedback however! When I post information and content I want it to be as honest as possible!
@@CaffeinatedDad That makes sense since I imagine some sort of inverse graph. Something like PvP wins for 2 pieces, tie for 4 pieces, PvE wins for 6. That's just an estimation, but anecdotally PvE pre-achievements may take longer than the first month. Thanks for the conversation!
I'm a bit confused, there seems to be a handful of things with similar names. Is it possible to craft the legendary gear with PvP rank 75? There appears to be two sets of Ascended quality gear in the vendor. One requires rank 100 and one doesn't. Will I have to grind to 100 or can I go ahead with the regular ascended?
Have you gotten an answer for this...I'm just holding off until rank 100 ...saving because like you said seems like 100 though I need the lesser before.
I completed my set since this post. You can craft legendary armor before level 100 by using the standard ascended gear as precursors. However, if you want the armor with the shiny aeshetic AKA "mistforged" then you need level 100 for that. So TLDR the level 100 is just for the looks, but you can make legendary at any level.@@duanchamp1988
It's incredibly sad to hear you say that you get Leg armor the quickest, and easiest, in pvp and it takes a month to get a single piece. That's exactly why I don't bother and just spend a half hour crafting a new set of ascended if I need it.
sad? i mean to get a stat changable gear fast and easiest out of the other legendary variations. if you just want your ascended pieces that works for you!
Yes! The Precursor is acquired from a vendor in the heart of the mists that requires ascended shards of glory and regular shards of glory. Depending on the piece you can earn 1-2 per ranked season
this will soon be the least fastest way to get legendary armor with Secrets of the Obscure coming out with the obsidian armor coming out as well also you need to be PvP rank 100 to even craft the PvP armor
Dude... I just did gift of magic and might. Cost me a fortune and they are wrong items. They has to be condenced, like ones you use in the video. (I looked at the big text on the left). Update plz. This sucks bad. 320g for basicly junk unless I would make 2000g back items...
thanks for the guide. is it really possible to do it in one month, all parts of the armor?) definitely need a text version with a list of necessary things :)
it is! it does require quite a few pvp bouts and the limiting factors will be the Ascended Precursor, the additional ascended armor or weapons that youd need to salvage, and if you need an additional grandmaster mark. i included the wiki link with all the materials in the description!
I recommend getting a single armor piece per season. PvP league tickets will limit you to two pieces per season anyway. The clovers will not be a factor at that rate as long as you choose the legendary crafting materials from the monthly chest. Plus grandmaster marks will be free. But if you really want to play more after reaching the final byzantium chest, repeating that chest will give you a fair amount of gold. The ascended shards of glory will also be rewarded at a similar rate as from Cerulean to Byzantanium, if a little slower. 400 ascended shards earned; 670 pips from standard, 720 from repeating (180x4). That's the trade-off. More matches required but more gold rewarded. But there's one more benefit from finishing the league instead of repeating it; the Warlord's Armor Boxes. 8 pieces of stat selectable max level exotic armor of your choice.
@@ringobats thanks. gold is not a problem, I started playing two months ago and have already saved up about 3 thousand, but I don't want to buy legendary things, it's much more interesting to make them myself:) besides, pvp is fun:)
@@karnmattu3586 craft and auction. everything is quite simple, having. 3 crafting professions, we make armor and weapons that are now in trend and we have about 350 gold per day.

what if i am really bad at pvp? i mean totally terrible and I dont play coz I lose constantly.. i am autistic and enjoy pve open world mostly and want legendary for it being available on all characters and stat swaps... can I still do pvp and level just for participating? (yea "get good" is something Im always working on)
You would need to craft 6 total legendary pieces per armor tier. So if you wanted legendary armor for everyone then you would need 18 total pieces to craft
As a fractal player, stabilizing matrixes at T4 are very common and you will have a 75 easily within a few days. I get close to 20 a night. Salvage kits are very cheap in fractals as well
depends on how much you win tbh! you are capped at 100 per season however. I'd Say safety you would need to put in around 10 matches a week but thats saying matches go your way!
I'd venture into ranked pvp for this but I'm not thick-skinned enough for the abuse I'd get during the endless hours of just running to near and afking until I die (rinse and repeat) in matches not trying at all as I am beyond shite at competitive play! Got 8 pieces from wvw so far.. takes sooooooo long but I'd rather stick toothpicks under my nails than touch ranked pvp 😅 (I'm rank 60-something I think, but all from doing the "daily custom arena" trick and even that was hard to stomach!) Or is semi-afking quite common in low ranked pvp?? If it was, I'll kick myself!! 🤣
@@PetrSzturc look under game browser on pvp tab. You'll see arena that say for example blue team wins, swap kills at center of map. Or just get a friend(alt account) and join same arena game that has 0 players in it, then have one person cap all nodes, and trade kills at bases. You can get daily kills, match points, top stats. This way is generally fast and easy at least when they are up in the pvp daily list. Think you still earn for pvp Reward track aswell, but not sure.
looool listen i cant say that its all roses abd sunflowers. i get chastised every now and then but im also under the impression that alot of the people who get salty are just having bad days!
On legendary? Yes. You can put in infusions and runes and take them out without any effort. On ascended? Yes, however they will be lost when used for the legendary upgrade. Plus, removing infusions and runes is much harder. Once you acquire an ascended pvp armor piece, keep it in the bank until you have all the materials needed to upgrade it.
@@ringobats Thank you for an answer :) I dont mind losing sigils etc. I just mean if its possible to use ascendent gear with runes as precursor for legendary 😀
@@AbunaiAiko the runes and infusions will be destroyed in the process of upgrading. You will get a legendary though. You can take the runes and infusions out with an extractor if you want to keep them.
People mention PvP as being annoying or not as fast as PvE legendary set but, while they don't say any lies, they also don't say the whole truth. So assuming you don't have a solid guild that does raiding on a daily basis, most people are in this situation, then here's what's going to happen. To get your PvE legendary armor you will need to first complete 2 achievements, Envoy 1 and Envoy 2. Both require grinding raids heavily. Envoy 1 will make you do W1 and W2 a lot. Besides that you also need to complete some meta events to get some items for the collection. Envoy 2 will require you grinding W3 and W4. The Cairn achievement is the most annoying one and IF you do not have a guild that is doing it with you then you are screwed as most LFG groups will just look for a quick full clear so they can get on with their lives. So you grind the raids and get the collection complete. It's going to take you a month for sure because not every group in LFG is going to be ideal. Plus, you may end up staying in a raid for 2 hours because people come and go, group gets wiped out often or you simply can't complete some meta event because there aren't enough people. But once you are done with the collections you will have 2 sets of ascended armors, the last one you receive is your precursor. Now begins the fun part, you need to craft the legendary piece one by one. For each piece you need 25 legendary insights and 50 provisioner tokens, among other expensive things, some, like the chalk eggs, you can only get them from the meta in Tangled Depths and you need 5 of those for each piece. So do the math on the grinding yourself. You will have legendary insights from all that grinding you did to finish the collection but you will definitely not have enough to finish the full set. And the provisioner tokens are time gated. You can only get 1/day from each vendor that sells it. While it is possible to get about 33 tokens in a day from all vendors, not all vendors give you good deal on them so in reality only 12 tokens (from the vendors in HoT maps) are really worth pursuing. So you basically grind 5 days of tokens + 25 legendary insights + 5 Tangled Depths meta for each piece . Since each raid gives you an average of 3 tokens and there are 7 wings you will grind, for each piece 1.5 weeks. But that is the ideal case and we do not live in an ideal world so in reality you will end up grinding probably about 2.5 - 3 weeks for 1 piece. So when you put it together you are most likely going to spend around half a year for a legendary set. Most people whom I've spoken to said this is a good average. PvP on the other hand does not require any achievements. You can get the first gen precursor without doing anything special. All you need to do is play casually ranked PvP and have fun with it. Yes, you do need to be level 20 to get into ranked PvP but that is really not a problem as you will level up extremely fast in unranked. Also, in PvP you will have a better chance at collecting materials to craft your legendary items (spirit shards, obsidian shards, and the most IMPORTANT one mystic clovers) just by casually playing the game. Mysic Clovers are the most precious resource when crafting legendary items as they are hard to get in the game. But with PvP you get them quite easily. Not the same story with PvE where you will run out of mystic clovers very fast after your first 2-3 pieces if you are new to the game and haven't been hoarding them for a while. Oh, and ranked PvP pays very well! If you play daily for 2 hours you will end up making much more gold than you would by farming in open world or doing a raid. Gold will also be very useful when you get into the crafting aspect of the legendary because, quite frankly, it is absolutely horrible to farm all that amount of T6 materials from open world. Besides the obvious difference in getting the armors there's also the skills you will learn while doing either raids or PvP. So with raids you will train to mindlessly hit a big animated model that has predictable mechanics. You will need to learn very specific rotations/combos to fulfill your role and gear up for that role in a squad. Ideally you should be able to cover multiple roles because if you focus only on one you may not be able to find a squad that easily. But the combat aspect of the raid is very simplistic. In PvP you will learn how to fight, be fast and adaptable to much better opponents. You WILL become a fighter. After you've done enough PvP you will be able to take on pretty much any PvE content in the game and not die even if you run extremely aggressive stats. This is not the same as with raids where you're adapting to a boss' mechanics and you learn that as you go. Often times when training for PvE you will focus on your role more than your characters full abilities. You do not have to worry about cleansing/healing/buffs/dmg alltogether in your build, you'll only focus on one. PvP makes you a much better player, more adaptable, and will make you learn your class a lot better than raids. Raids will just limit you to one playstyle and mindless grinding the same raids over and over. You will not get better at the game doing only raids for your legendary. You will only get better at raid mechanics. I've had 4 pieces of legendary armor done through raiding and then I gave up because it bored me to death. I did the rest of the 2 while PvP-ing. Now I find myself not doing any raids because it's boring AF. Once I got my last legendary I got into WvW where, surprise surprise, the skills I have learned while PvP-ing came in extremely handy. And the competitive modes in GW2 it's what's all about. That is where the fun part is, in my opinion, and GW2 rewards you very nicely for that. PvE is just mindless grind and when you get into the legendary trinkets aspect you will see how stupidly annoying is to grind in PvE for something like your legendary backpack from fractals but definitely more fun to get the legendary backpack from PvP. And let's not get started on Aurora...
By and large when you ask the community what path you take to get legendary, most of us will just say "do what content you enjoy". Full respect for enjoying PvP more than PvE, but this wall of text makes PvE sound terrifying when it truly isn't. For anyone who sees this; all legendary paths are fairly equally manageable. This reads to me as doomer speak towards raids, considering some easily refutable points: gold per hour in endgame PvE is some of the best you'll find according to [fast] farming guild data, raid/fractal currency can buy mystic clovers, and paragraphs 1 and 3 conflict each other (if raids were so simple and non-skill, your experience wouldn't consist of consistent failed groups). Play what content you like. If you truly want to speedrun legendary (hardcore folks, credit card swipers, etc), PvE is fastest, but in any other case, you'll be faster with whatever you enjoy.
@@Veruzian too much repetitive grind and very little fun when you have to do the same fetch quest for 30 or even 100 times...it's just mind numbing. Think Draconis Mons for 16 days doing the same thing every day for Aurora :) need I say more? Anyway, my experience is that PvP is the fastest way to get your legendary armor and thankfully I've experienced both so I am well informed enough to have an opinion.
@@PetrSzturc Haven't crafted legendary WvW armors but I will say that WvW is meant to be experienced with your guild. So if you have one that's doing regular WvW days you're good otherwise it will be probably more frustrating than PvP and PvE combined. But I will say this: WvW is definitely fun and for me it represents the best of both worlds. It's actually where the name of the game, Guild Wars, actually means what it's supposed to: large scale fights between guilds.
@@badc0der It's an opinion for which is more repetitive. Needing to repeat events vs needing to play a bunch of pvp matches. Again, play what you enjoy. @@xdd._kara8634 If I want a solid PvE experience I will play a modern RPG with amazing graphics and solid story. GW2 story is meh and the graphics is clearly outdated. But if you enjoy it, play it.
