My desktop has a saying, "Intensity is overrated. Consistency is underrated," by Shane Parrish. The copy work trick is interesting, and I might try it next time. I am a big proponent of accountability partners, but the challenge is finding one with the same goal as yours. Do you find working with an actual accountability partner is better than working with random strangers, such as using online accountability partner software?
I absolutely love the quote! Thanks for sharing. Yes, do try copy work. Of all the practice work I did, copy work was the one that really jumped start my writing. Yes, having accountability partners are key. But just like you, I also had trouble finding another accountability partner for academic writing. I will show up for the co-working sessions, but the others would not show up. So, I eventually joined the online partner software with random people. The benefits: 1) there is always someone available to be your buddy, 2) they are not inclined to chat unnecessarily. I have joined other accountability groups for entrepreneurship --> those have been incredibly successful. Perhaps there were more people with similar goals. TLDR - accountability buddies work when goals are aligned and both are as committed to pushing each other. But online strangers are pretty effective too (at least they show up).
