Spend the time working yourself first; physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially. That's how you get over a breakup. You will be happier and will attract better...so be it! BTW, its better to be authentic vs being nice! (but you can be kind in the process)

You are so right! I am now financially much better off, I have much more time available so I've started learning a new language, I go to the gym a couple times a week and I'm focussed on renovating my home. And when you realise how cruel some women can be you will realise how lucky you were to dodge that bullet. Best let some other guy handle the divorce a few years down the line. Just look at poor Johnny Depp and the stress he has been through. Life is too short to waste it on the wrong person.

Life can get real messy, can't it. Sometimes the partner you're with and love, depend on for sometimes decades suddenly changes and it's over. It's horrible and devastating and for some can lead to the ending of their lives. It should never ever get to this. Regardless of your suffering, grief etc you always have worth and something to offer if not to a partner then to your family, community or the larger world and to yourself. Healing requires solitude and many are not even able to handle this step. Be able to be alone, without feeling lonely or having to permanently distract yourself with social media etc etc. Although if you are really not coping well, sometimes a little distraction is good. If you really need help, reach out and get it from a friend or if need be, a professional. I could go on for a lot longer, but I haven't got time. Pay very very close attention to your attachment and dependency style, more often than not, the answer to your heartbreak and grief can be found here. Look after yourselves 🙏🙏❤️

ouch, ouch, OUCH! Yes. I had a bad breakup a LONG time ago. It ruined me for two years but I was doing things wrong. When my other half started the mediation route last September I went along with it and I'm getting paperwork ready now. Soon. This time it doesn't hurt that much as I've been eating healthy, exercising a lot and focusing on myself and I was stuck away over the pandemic. With my work requirements I've already gone in and had some counselling so this does not affect me professionally. What is interesting is that the person I am working with tells me I already have a lot of inner peace. Just let the bad stuff go. Focus on yourself and get out there and meet people, rebuild friendships. Maybe after all this paperwork is wrapped up I'll try your program Anna, maybe I'll just be on my own. But at peace as I focus on myself. We'll see. PS it will be a nightmare to wrap up. :)

Awesome video! If I were going to give advice, it would be : never be afraid to be single and taking time to better yourself, who knows you may bump into “Ashly” down the road. It’s easier said than done but always try to avoid stressing out over things you cannot control. I guess you could apply that to anything not just relationships

This gives me some hope at least to keep pushing forward. She blocked me two weeks ago in order for us to “both heal” and it was out of love, that we kept hurting each other. And she found it hard to say no to me because we kept bumping into each other at cafes. She even messaged my brother asking him to keep me accountable to try to respect her wishes and boundaries. I feel she gave me mixed signals is the only reason i persisted. I know i’m not going to contact someone if they don’t want me in their life. She even suggested I try seek some professional help (which i already am) as she noticed how anxious i got. She’s been dealing with death in her family and heaps of life stress too so i don’t know if there’s hope.

I lost her 4 years ago, we were together just over 4 months.. it was long distance but we spent a lot fo time together... she was half my age (at that time 25 and I was 48)... I felt like she's way way way out of my league... In the beginning she love bombed me, and I felt comfortable to show her how much I loved her... I fell hard, and that was my folly.. when she ended it, I didn't expect to move on... I have since dated dozens of women, some hotter and younger and older .. none have been able to replace the way she made me feel, but at least I know now that I am ready to find someone again.. but it took me all these years to start to get there.

I call the flaws, idiosyncrasies. A couple at my late father’s care home said they made an agreement right when they got married to accept the idiosyncrasies. 70 years of marriage later… I have the patience for the flaws as long as she wants to work on them and I don’t mind constructive criticism from her. @@YourWingmam I try to be brief. Please be patient! Thank you kindly ma’am. As you get to know someone, some of the harmless quirks are endearing and make someone more loveable. They may be self-conscious, try to hide quirks like snorting when laughing, and that acceptance of each others’ ways can bring closeness. Could be a pet name based on a quirk. It means you notice, accept and love it. A harmful quirk, if not too serious, can be something to support, because some are concerned being perfect. Always, never, but, and perfect are four words I use as selectively around everyone. Always is forever, never is not once, anything coming after but in a sentence is what people focus on and perfect… who’s perfect??? That’s a red flag if they are that arrogant, although some women are attracted to the dark triad. We are too cavalier with forms of expression, especially with so much digital textual communication. Eg: sarcasm as a form of flirting is funny sometimes because it leaves room to interpret, like entendres. You’re a gem, and I’ve learned a lot due to you/your channel. God bless.

Thank you. Was in a 3+years relationship with a narcissist and I kept "trying to hard" to over compensate and neglected my own needs. I learned, that to move forward from unfulfilling relationship, to forgive myself and ex-partner and see as life's lessons, not mistakes. 3 months after breakup, I met a better partner and we each have our own lives and WANT each other, but don't NEED each other. Much better foundation to build on.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. After dating for a while, I think people tend to develop a thicker skin, or at least can take a breakup in stride. Otherwise agreed on everything you say. Man or woman, a person must be able to stand on their own and be their own person. I've seen far too many relationships where one partner in the relationship will do everything they can to sacrifice/mold themselves to appease the other, and it never really worked out very well in the long term... things like changing religion/spiritual beliefs, political outlook, hobbies, career, or other things that define the person in an attempt to satisfy the other. It should also apply to bad behaviors as well. I think in cases like that if some sort of agreement can't be reached, it may be worth considering leaving the relationship and moving on. Used to have a really good friend, and he had a lot of good qualities, but he was a social klutz. He had already been in one bad marriage, came back from that looking and acting like a whipped dog. After a fairly short while he found someone new and after a year's engagement got married again. Very shortly after marriage he changed his religion from essentially being agnostic to practicing Judaism (he wasn't born Jewish either), gave up his goals of being a professional musician and most of his hobbies. Later on she got a job on the other side of the continent, and he was separated from the rest of his family by at least 2000 miles (Southern CA to Ohio) and really had no focus for his life any longer. That was bad enough, but what really got me was that about a week after they came back from their honeymoon, she started posting lots of pictures of naked firemen on her social profiles. In other words she had no respect for him at all. She also used to used to joke around about making him sleep on the couch or withholding sex from him to get him to do things. I know this example is a little extreme, but my friend was basically a broken man. I lost contact with him a few years ago, but I sometimes wonder what ever came of that mess. Reason I brought that story up is to illustrate your point of what can happen if someone starts sacrificing who they are to be with the other person. Very toxic!

I feel for Stan. Not glad to admit it, but I just went through a similar situation. Met a girl, all was great and happy, spending time together. Fooling yourself, she is the one until you see the truth. I was with a selfish, spiteful, and shrewd woman. So selfish, she neglects her kids(not my kids) to play games online all day(She doesn't have a job) worst 2 years of my life. So GLAD I didn't spend a single penny on her during our time together, even though I wanted to. Always kept my distance in a way. Now I'm doing better. Doing well at my job, started a new hobby, and took care of myself more than I did before. When push comes to shove. THE ONLY person you can count on is YOURSELF. Nothing else matters!

This hits too close to home. Three months out of an anxious-avoidant trap that lasted 18 months. First 6 months were amazing followed by a year of her backing away and her not being able to say why. I chased, she left, and was with a "friend" a month later. Now she is with a different "friend" from our past. Things were so good in the start skipped the red flags later.

Dealing with Mom’s deteriorating health has triggered childhood insecurities that are not attractive. lol Also don’t bring in someone new when dealing with life altering events. I remember putting women on pedestals and in time they came down but a little Goddess Worship is fun as long as you have a clear intention of playing that as a role for a fun bit and not losing oneself. I sent a letter back at the beginning of the year, if was a bad breakup and we were at each other's throats for ages. She'd reach back out, one or other of us would fail at walking in eggshells and there'd be another fight. Long story short I did walk away and she reached out ten weeks later. Part of me likes to hope we're working things out but I journal it all to make sure I'm not lying to myself. Been on a few dates recently with some really nice women, but no spark that matched the one with her yet.

I left my wife of 8 years just after my 40th birthday (I'm now 44 in 2 1/2 weeks) I had been neglecting a lot of things because my wife wanted me to spend every moment that I wasn't at work with her and got upset if I even suggested anything that didn't involve her. My friend had really good social skills with women while I was more imaginative. When we would hit the clubs back in the day I often marveled at how good he was chatting women up. He just lacked the imagination to travel or be spontaneous and it seemed to me if we combined our traits we'd have the perfect person. I knew this one woman who wanted to just be friends and I was ok with it. We socialized and enjoyed time with one and other. She would also tell me of her dates which seemed to be not going well. Since she didn't want to date I started going out with someone else. When I told her I was seeing someone she ended our friendship. What are you going to do? It was good to have known her and I wish her well.

Some say that men and women cannot be friends but I think that it depends on the individuals and the boundaries that are established from the beginning. I have four female friends in different spheres of my life who I would never ever dream of dating but they are very good friends nonetheless. The problems occur with female friends in the "grey area" and when one of them crosses a boundary as happened to me recently. Kisses at the end of text messages, unsolicited birthday presents etc. which led me to believe there was some interest on her part. While this was going on she was about to or had already started a relationship with another man which she hid for four months. In this case I ended our friendship and she protested but only because I suspect she has a financial dependency on me.

You're fortunate you've never had to experience the pain of a breakup, it's awful. I've discovered caffeine helps on my filming days lol (though, overall it's not good for me). That was a hellscape which lasted for many weeks until we got back on the same page, so I understand the painfulness of a breakup. But the overall situation was still quite a bit different than the one in your illustration. Just clarifying. Stan's story is so much like mine it's almost creep. Only this was my wife of 14 years. I began to find out about lies and deceptions from her and her friends, and as soon as I called her out on them, she started pulling away. Lying more. Hiding more. Naturally, I started reaching more. Becoming clinging and desperate. I was thinking; "This is the love of my life! This is so very much out of character for her. If only I get her to see what she's doing is not healthy..." I tried too hard, and caught her in too many lies. She ultimately told me she wanted a divorce. I was devastated. I had never felt such hurt. And then when she no longer felt the need to hide her lies she confessed to me she had been lying to my about friends and finances since before we were even married. This, of course further exacerbated my devastation. I had never felt more betrayed in my life. It's been a year now. I'm adjusting to the new life as best as can be expected. Apartment instead of a house, losing so many friends in the split (as most of my friends were her friends)... The hardest has been losing half of what's left of our son's childhood. I still get lonely at times and I know I deserve so much better than her. But starting over in my 40's just plain sucks!

Glad I haven't gone thru this since high school, but what can be a real twist some women aren't use to things going well will freak out, and when that happens believing they are going to be dumped and pull away. Weird but it happens and if it does let her go, she's too damaged. If you are a few agent take some time to learn about rejection sensitivity (it's more than you think) before getting into your next situation.

Been there, done that.....actually a couple of times. Those ladies also wanted to be "friends". That's OK, sometimes a friend can come around and become a lover again. The key, however, is not to let them use you for a one-sided benefit. If they call you to do things FOR them (chores, car trouble, etc) and never reciprocate, you're being played for a fool. If they want to talk every now and then, and you have time, that's one thing......BUT, I'm not going to be there to talk about her current love life or problems. Some women want it both ways.....to use your wisdom and knowledge when they want to......and never do anything for your benefit. Just me, maybe?

That's what happens when you've been relegated to the friend zone. She'll want you to be her emotional tampon but you don't get anything back. Now, if you truly don't have an attraction to her and she reciprocates actual *friendship* well, fine. When some men put a woman on a pedestal, in reality they don't actually think those women are better than them, and they still see the woman's flaws clearly, but those men do it because the man's typical way of thinking is that when you like someone (woman, friend, relative, etc) you need to treat them nicely. The problem is that, when a woman who feels she's been put on a pedestal, she gets the impression that man feels inferior to her and that's because she overanalyze everything and come up with conclusions that aren't true. It's really simple: a man likes you a lot, he naturally treats you nicely, and without realizing it, he unintentionally gives the impression he's inferior to you.

My dearest Anna, one should be as nice as the degree of nice belonging to one's own personality, neither more nor less, regardless of who or what one deals with. In other words be authentically nice, just because that 's how you are. It is far more important to be kind than nice. A genuinely kind person will retain his level of kindness no matter the situation. The key here is to know that certain limits and boundaries must exist to one's offer and application of kindness, especially if it is on the large side of things. Not everyone deserves the same amount of kindness. One could also use kindness as a determining factor in regards to who is who. Personally I honestly do not care to be a high value man to women neither do I care if I am attracted to them or to anyone else in general. I never do things according to what women or others want of me or expect me to do, I do things my way which is guided only by God, what others think of me or the way I do things is of little to no importance to me. So whether I am in a relationship or not, it makes no difference, I continue in the same pace doing exactly the same hobbies, having the same habits, etc. Your advice to people is solid, your hair look nice also, it suits you well, keep it up.

I can relate to Sam. I am now in "self-celebate" mode. For the time being, I am done with women. With one woman, kinda like Sam, I kinda went down the rabbit hole of not doing my work which ultimately led to my dismissal. She then started pulling me around by my Johnson to get what she wanted. That led me to dating 2 ladies in between that time to now which is 7 years later. Getting back to that "well rounded" person phase but it's a long road.

Brilliant video. You have missed one important point: after the breakup, delete the number, block it and move on! Do not under any circumstances accept the friend zone. This means humiliation for you! You will get only a stagnant connection and probably will scare away possible future girlfriends!

After having been most everybody's - and I MEAN most everybody's! - laughing stock for the first 17 years of my life, right out of the blue I landed not only a bunch of really OK people to be friends with but along with them a really gorgeous girlfriend. Of course I was all cloud nine about it. It wasn't that I spoilt her or went after her like a little dog, it was more like, she became the single most important thought in my head, not to mention leap of my heart. That's how it goes when all of a sudden, girl appeal wise, you go from rags to riches, isn't it? Well then, equally out of the blue, she eventually left me, it was upper case devastating. I had done nothing wrong - or so I thought. It was her who gave in to the temptation of fumblin' around with another guy in a situation when I wasn't around. And then, as she put it, she was confused about herself and ditched both the other guy AND me. Thank you girl, as the Beatles would have said. Three months on cloud nine as I said took something like three following years of quiet desperation to get over. Crazy huh? But that's how it is when you're young and dumb. The funny thing is, as she was originally a part of the clique package deal, we DID keep in touch all the while I had to overcome things, and anyway I simply, genuinely loved her too much to be like, I want nothing more to do with you. But ever since then I DO know the meaning to the word bittersweet. It was our curriculums vitae as well as my finding Yeshuah which eventually pulled us in divergent directions. I continue to have a bit of a warm spot in my heart for her to this day, for one because she was my first one, and then because that goes for almost every girl I've ever been with. I'm just that kind of guy to view all of them as important to my life at some point, as well as I won't love you today and hate you tomorrow. I'll love you once and for all if you happen to have been that part of my life.

I am very fortunate. Though I am considered very sensitive, I had never suffered over a breakup. Fortunately, it was the right thing for the both of us (two intelligent people) or it was a escape from the claws of a dragon lady. And it's funny how young girls think putting on makeup and wearing sexy clothes is enough to hold onto guys. And they make it sooo easy to breakup because all that HIDDEN nasty that females keep hidden surface during the breakup. And the crazy ones take it a step further. Because they have no power and usually no intelligence they try to leverage legal actions full of false accusations. They want to inflict pain and possibly gain some $$$$. I found it best to breakup without them knowing there is a breakup. Last girl, I sent her fake anonymous love letters and flowers. From a made up rich guy. It kept her distracted long enough that our relationship devolved without her knowing it. No drama. No law suites. No spreading false gossip that I am a "player".

I was married for 16 years. I was miserable the last 4 years. I ended up developing nice guy syndrome and made every decision to benefit the family. This made me even more miserable and I lost motivation and confidence. Its been 6 months since we divorced and I am able to see how things really were between us. At the end, we changes so much that we didn't have the same values or goals anymore. I was the only one compromising to make things work. Now, I'm going to the gym regularly. I'm starting a second business. I'm completely rebuilding my life. I'm even going to a concert by myself next week. I decided to stay away from women for now because I'm not in a place to be in a relationship yet.

Do NOTHING! you re not ready. Learn to be yourself, grow strength to be you, alone financially phisycally and spiritually. If you talk with women have fun but dont take them seriously, be friendly but dont pitch yourself completly to no one, only for you. Maybe after getting over the breakup you can hang out with more serious intentions. By the way, i was too married for 15 years. Im in my first year after divorce. Almost going bankrupt, Im taking care of my daughter and son. Slowly recovering.

Cat got its ears clipped !? Difference between 'Reacting' and 'Responding' is key here. Often big mistakes are made when we allow a gut reaction to dictate our behaviors........... Mature people will have a gut reaction ("feeling") but they tend to weigh how they are going to allow themselves to react to it. Mature people also factor in that they may just be interpreting something wrong (ie A simple misunderstanding.) There is nothing wrong with saying, "Hey, I heard you but I really want to think a little bit more before I respond." It is almost always a mistake to 'shoot from the hip". You cannot change what they say or how they act, but you can regulate your emotions and responses. They may just be having a bad day. It is almost always a good idea to ask relevant questions to get at what is making them feel the way they do. Often people have perhaps misinterpreted what you meant or attributed false motives to something you did or say. You may be guilty of this also toward them. ...... Don't forget the 'role of forgiveness' that is essential to maintain the health of all relationships : Co-workers, friends, relatives, neighbors, lovers, spouse, etc. Pobody is nerfict , including you. If you have said something "wrong" or "hurtful" to someone you love, they are going to have a reaction. If you really love each other, this has probably happened from time to time........... It is just naturally 'the human condition'. Gentlemen, if you just shot off the hip and said something stupid, I would suggest silence for a good 20 minutes, but stay near her. Your continued presence will probably signal to her that you regret what you just said, know it was mindless and even perhaps mean, you are sorry, but you still love her. Don't drop a stupid bomb and leave the room! Here is a psych tip: It usually takes people's bodies 8 minutes to change from being very angry to a resting or joyful state. This is because all those nerves and chemicals inside them, (that were just triggered), need about 8 minutes to dissipate. Our bodies are generally 8 minutes behind our thoughts................. So if you, or her, just got very angry or upset, and even if they come to realize there was no reason to get angry, their body will still be on high-alert for about 8 minutes. [This came out in an episode of 'Everyone Loves Raymond', when she says he should just hug her when she is upset. Later in the show, he says something (again!) which is stupid and hurtful, then remembering what she said, he walks over to her and hugs her................. Her reaction is like a bear attack, and she says, 'Not now!!!!!" ] ie. Her body was still pissed at him, so don't touch her!

Excellent advice! I just watched a lecture series on a human behavioural biology (Prof Sapolsky, Stanford) and he noted it takes 10-30 min for adrenaline to fully dissipate (twice as long for women!) depending on the degree of reaction. I heard somewhere else (can't remember where now) that when we're triggered, our brains compute nothing of what the other person is saying after the first 8 seconds. Bottom line: trying to work through an issue when someone is triggered is futile, or worse, even more triggering. Very confusing. When this mystical Ashley says she’s too tired or busy, I don’t understand why a person wouldn’t just be polite and say, “Ok, call me when you’re not tired or busy”. If she doesn’t call, you haven’t lost anything. It might hurt but you don’t have to stop loving someone just because they stop loving you. Distract yourself until the pain goes away. Work more overtime. Do something nice for someone at work who’s constantly getting dumped on. A break-up is like a funeral. You can’t do anything about it but the feeling goes away with time. Keep the memories and mementos you want and throw out the rest. I usually don’t keep the photos. Maybe I’m not doing it right.

Arrh, you speak on something which I know much about ... there (is) the marriage break-up, you were my wrong side of the track thing, I didn't even realise we were an item, sex not intimacy thing, I am deranged break-up (sub set of most), career move, death, I can do better, let’s be friends (what about sex buddies - not, just friends), estrangement from children (much, much worse) long time relationship peter-out, the romantic affair (no, I don't know about that one), violence (I was the intervener suggesting folk breakup at least for tad) ... they/you become religious, vote conservative, buy a sports car (I’ve always wanted to date a conservative) and your family doesn’t approve (tricky) I have more lifelong relationships that one ought reasonable expect. I can observe that each subsequent breakup is easier until it barely registers. For sure, one gets a might familiar with one’s beau. But really, this is a long long way from the worst thing in the World - except the death one even if it was former partner. Even so there are counsellors, wiser friends - best avoid the alcohol and other drugs - you should never have neglected career or interests - you need therapy just about why you did that. Remember; the reason you broke up was You - if you are blaming the other see above under counselling

This is never strikes me as a basis for a long term relationship; but it does get me to see their book collection. A much better guide.

Codependency is vicious! It stems from severe insecurity/low self-esteem coupled with obsession. Never make the relationship all about the other person, that ends in disaster. That constant feeling of high anxiety and fear of losing everything if that other person isn't happy is being self toxic and will destroy you. Remind yourself that you are worth it for yourself. Happy wife happy life? Absolutely Not! You will be a shell of the man you used to be, and hate yourself for it. Take a few years off of dating for yourself, including no sex, you want any relationship with a woman platonic so you don't think about being more concerned about her than just a friend. Allow yourself to want for yourself again and not be there just to serve someone else.

Just keep in mind: you have a huge Love Tank. So you can love the ex, BUT, you can love someone new as well. You can love some one that actually has relational potential. And i am sure thats what you want, a relationship with a person.

Breakups are welcomed after about 6 months. Most women bring very little of intrinsic value to the table. But if not careful she will take everything when she leaves.

Although this may not be the right video for this comment, but I feel that if a woman really loves you and cares for you, and if she's a high quality woman, she'll not make life difficult for you. Women who would play along, aren't worth pursuing. My opinion, and could vary from person to person.
