I’ve been stuck at home for 7 weeks with a foot injury and it has been pretty torturous but this reminded me to slow down and allow myself to heal. Thank you for sharing, this really helped me a lot ❤️ I’m already stuck walking the wrong way so I’m really trying to fix what I’ve done now that I’ve been enlightened with your info! I hadn’t iced or elevated in a long time too just wanting to get back to normal and you reminded me how important it is to get back into it. Thank you again 😭❤️

Your comment makes me so happy! I always tell people to have patience with themselves, and it really is so important. This can be a long and slow journey, with lots of small wins along the way, so one day (and one step) at a time!

This my ninth week after a medial malleolus Rt foot. Still struggling to walk properly. One thing I have learned is that hurrying up the process is not at all possible. It's like baby will take nine months to be safely delivered so I guess proper walking may take at least 4 to 6 months.😣😥

I have something similar after 7 weeks in a boot from a broken ankle hiking. I never got rid of my crutches while in the boot. I’m now down to 1 crutch and I’m limping. I’m trying to get rid of it but it’s so very hard. It’s a mine thing. PT is helping me a lot I go twice a week

If your still icing especially at your low weight. It’s fair to say the surgery wasn’t a total success. Going through the same now. Thanks for video

Gabe: Respectfully, I totally disagree. The surgery did what it needed it to - it put my bones perfectly back together. All bodies respond to trauma differently, and there are so many elements to recovery - not just the bones, but the muscles, fascia, nerves, circulation, etc. Each are such delicate systems on their own, not to mention how they recover as a family of systems, and each require different types of attention and care over time. Another super important part, is that "success" is a journey, not a destination, and icing is an incredible tool to leverage throughout that journey, no matter where you are in it, because of how it helps the body recover. If you join webroken.com and watch my interview with the physical therapist, she too acknowledges that most people will likely never go back to "normal" and caring for your ankle post-surgery is a lifelong journey and habit, like brushing your teeth. Best of luck to you in your healing 💛

just did mine 2 weeks ago. Got to 15 untill a broken bone! already seeing a difference between the two calf muscles, the right one, being huge, the left one, having little to nothing on them. The left one before the surgery was just fine, same as right, big and bulky. That is because I'm a track and field and cross country runner. I am a pretty good runner, and these tips might help! Thanks!

Dude I agree broke my ankle recently and I’m a pretty big muscular guy so I’m sortve used to my legs being built like air tanks, but man when my cast came off and I saw how small my leg was I couldn’t believe it.

Thank you for this video. I fell 8 months ago, fractured my ankle in multiple areas. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, I came home to my 7 kids and thought I can do this without the boot and I wanted to just do everything normally. I limp badly still, still have bruising. I suppose I went about the healing process in the wrong way. I’m going to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic doctor soon. Thank you for your educational upload. ❤️

Omg that sounds so hard and painful - you may want to also try PT to help you gain strength and walk smoothly again. Sounds hard to find time for that with 7 kids, but it's also so essential! Best of luck to you 💗

I had my ankle surgery then sent home the next day with pain killers and morphine I was told to keep leg elevated in bed as much as possible to help the swelling and healing were they cut you got surgery after 2 weeks I had my stitches taken out then I rested for another 3.5 weeks then had appointment with doctor X-Ray etc from then he said I can try to start bearing weight I used crutches to help with boot on etc and take my boot off when mobilised and try to rotate my ankle to loosen it as it is stiff at the moment. Now my next mission is losing this limp. Good luck to you.

Hi, thank you for this video. I have watched alo of videos trying to figure out why I limp in a walking boot. I injured myself in Oct 2022. Broke my ankle and had surgery to repair it. I have two plates and screws and one rod in my ankle. They put on a cast right away with no weight barring for three weeks. Had the cast off then was put into the boot cast. With minimum weight barring. I started physiotherapy End of November with 25 percent weight barring. Now I'm up to 100% weight barring. I use a walker and when I try to walk without the walker I have a limp. Trying so hard to walk normal. I will try the crutches to see how they go.

did your doctor preferred you physiotherapy? Coz I'm at 4 weeks and my medial malleolus fracture is now healed...but my doctor said that I doesn't need physiotherapy...but it is very painful when I put wight on that foot... So what should I do? I still can't walk even though my fracture is helaed😭😭
@brokenankleclub
@brokenankleclub 2 года назад
Yes I got referred to PT, and I'd absolutely suggest you go too. The doctor's job is to heal the bone, but they don't typically care as much about the rest of your healing unfortunately. Go go go! Let me know how it is.

I literally start talking about how to get rid of a limp at 1:10 - but it does require that you haven't had a limp for a long time. Alzo spellllchick before criitisising.
