I had trimalleolar surgery 1 month ago , i can relate how its not only physically a problem but mentally too because u want to walk again. I have a question, when the bone grows again does everything with that ankle get back to normal or its never the same again?

10yrs out with hardware removed. Very active... No it will never be 100% back to normal. But there are many things you can do. Ice boot helps alot. Exercise, stretching, alphabet signing, epsom salt soaking. Staying away form ice and always keep a shower mat!😅

Second comment 😂 So I just had my surgery yesterday afternoon and now the anesthesia has def washed a away so I’m in a lot of pain rn. Found out yesterday that I was wrong I wasn’t having ORIF on my ankle but my Fibula. But I do have 1 really Important question, Would removing hardware cause Arthritis in later years? Pls answer

I am 17 and im having my ankle plate insetred tomorrow and I'm a bit overwhelmed. i also have some questions like 1. is it ok to take the plate out 1 or 2 years after getting it done? 2. how much did removal cost for you? 3. would removing the plate cause arthritis in the later future? 4. how was the pain on a level of 1-10 after getting it removed? 5. I heard that the hole from the removal would make the bones much more weak and fragile id it true? and if not would the holes be filled back up fast? Sorry for asking so much questions.

I am post op 11 weeks I had a trimalleolar ankle fracture. I was so eager to get back to walking, i was told to start walking with a boot 7 weeks with crutches, not full weight bearing. I know i shouldn't have but on the first day i was so eager i slowly tried to walk without the crutches with the boot. After doing it, i could walk full weight bearing in the Boot, no crutches without any pain! (Keep in mind my doctor said crutches and boot) I was so confident around 5 days before my doctors appointment i walked around my house barefoot! Not all day though. I still had no pain, unless i started to do stuff I didn't have to with my legs or unnecessary exercises. My doctor said my xrays were great, i informed him of my doings against his words, he told me to keep doing whatever i was doing before because i was doing better than expected. Surprisingly he told me if i felt like i could, i coild probably start jogging in a few weeks (around the present right now) i stumbled upon your videos on your journey the same day of the doctor! I have to say your channel helped me through this rough time! What you did and the motivation of seeing you! Upon 11 weeks now, i can jog at a very slow pase, a few times a day. I have a doctor checkup in 4 more weeks! The only trouble i have is my foot arch, i would say a lot of pain but if i raise it too high it starts to burn, if i lower it too low again starts to burn. My balance is deficient however good enough. Another fun fact, through this journey i found out that i have a condition where my body produces extra calcium, my doctors say this might be the reason for my fast growth but not best thing. Now my body needs the calcium to repair my bones. But when my bones fully heal my body will start to feel fatigued from the mass production of extra calcium. Although im just here to say thank you! For everything youve marked on your jouney helping me! If i have any big news on my 4 week check-in. I will be sure to edit my comment!

Thanks for the update. I'm 2 years, 2 months post surgery for a fractured calcaneus. Bone is healed, but continued numbness from upper ankle to toes, bottom of the foot. Weak if walking too much and sometimes feels as if the plate is coming through the side and bottom of the foot. Physical therapist mentions neuropathy. Any if these symptoms equate to your experience? Not certain the ankle/foot will ever be the same.

I've had the same injury long time ago in 02.2017,you have had in 2013 so It's 4 years diffrence and since then I have been thinking about possible arthritis in the future.This arthritis really sucks and there's nothing you can do about it only slowing it down with exercises.If you don't do anything with possible excessive pain in your ankle due to arthritis you will start walking differently and this will damage your knee above and hip.If you decide to fuse it,same,different walking causing damage to your knee and hip over time.If you decide to replace the joint I've read that people can walk on it only for 10 years od shorter until It's worn out.Fusing or replacing the joint can cause complications,takes time to recover,may not help at all or just a little bit and You słowly becoming disabled with no way out of this.
@krzysiek2142
@krzysiek2142 Месяц назад
Could you describe me your present state and how did you brake it?I have damaged(not torn completely) my ligaments(triquetral ligament and mentioned tibiofibular synostosis which is like 4 separate ligaments)along with trimalleolar fracture.This causes instability in your ankle(you can feel it by standing on one leg the good and bad one for one minute)and instability can also help to cause ankle arthritis:D

I had a trimalleolar ankle break a few years back. Broke both sides of the Tibia at the ankle tore the inside ligament. Surgery once. No mandatory therapy actually, did it myself. Had the hardware out and everything finished fine. They say you'll never feel normal and things still feel a little different but not much. Everything came back including full balance and range for martial arts. Have faith..you never know.

What kind of hardware did you have removed??? I had a trimalleloar fracture too 9 months back and I found my issue to be stiffness from the tightrope.
@stevenreznick4394
@stevenreznick4394 23 часа назад
@@jovanyponce1162 I had a screw canoe, screw plate and 9 screws inserted at my surgery. One of those screws was long across the syndesmosis. I researched having everything out vs in. Didn't have much pain with it in but they wanted to take the longer screw out for range of motion so while they were doing it I just had everything go. The recovery for that was quite short. The final come back at the end was more convincing myself it was back. Your body changed so the chance of things being different from there on is large but honestly I trained myself again, worked to restore balance between my legs. The effort I put in wasn't large despite my training. Two years on since the fun and most everything is fine. Like I said keep the faith.

This video was fantastic! I had a trimal fracture on feb 25. Surg was feb 29 this year. I am 7 PT appts in and no boot but using crutches. I find my surgeon to be rather unrealistic in how fast I'm going to be walking 100%. My PT is a lot this gal as far as expectations go. She doesn't want me limping... but i try to do too much bc that's me - im impatient. But pain has a way of making me slow down. I'm a bit like my surgeon i guess as far as expectation. But i loved this video and the reminder that a new normal is just another day away from being able to be my very active self again. Thank you!!

My ankle always feels cold and itches and makes clicking feelins. The link on the inside of my leg doesnt allow me to turn my right foot inward. I can not step off the curb crossing the street. I fear gettijg on and off the city bus. I bought soje military boots but cant put my foot in them now. My bank is 5 blocks away ajd still walking that distancecrequres a next day to not have much walking. My favorte thing is that my back of my knee stopped freaking out. And I can use a blanket now. I still have issues gettijg on ajd off the bar stool. And getting out of ky brothers truck is very hard so I go very slow.

I had surgery with a plate and 12 screws and have accepted this is my NEW normal. Yes it can be disheartening but to know I can walk/ run again after all the trauma and losing your independence, makes one realize we can overcome intense struggles. I get sad bc there’s a lot of things I probably won’t ever try due to the fear of breaking it again but I guess I’m just more cautious now.
