That's great advice as a Qualified Animal medicines advisor my job requires me to know about fleas as they are an ectoparasite. Fleas and lice need moisture to function drying out the environment they are in does work. I endorse this message
YES! We use Himalayan pink Salt and spread it thick like rice on butter. We even spread it on our hardwood floors to be sure. The beds get it as well, comforters, blankets, pillows, the whole shabang! Works like a glove.
Can you do this if you have inside cats? I dont know how people do this in a living room, with carpet also. Do you sprinkle or spread a little bit under the edges and legs of furniture? Cuz I think fleas r starting early this year. In disbelief here!!! But won’t cats mess with salt or will it dry them out too!!?
@@maryb5875 it won’t hurt your cats or other pets but if you’re still worried just keep them locked in a separate room or carry cage while you do this process. Spread everything thick, and spread it EVERYWHERE!!! On carpets, on the sofas, on everything and let it sit for a couple hours or all day & night if possible. The longer the better because the fleas will be jumping around and drying up also the eggs they laid will dehydrate and be gone. Try it out and let us know how it worked!
Yes it does work! I also put down bowls of dish detergent water with a lamp (no lamp shade) in high flea areas in my house overnight, the fleas jump for the light and end up landing in the water.👏👏👏👏👏👏💃
That's a good trick, I believe they're attracted to the lamp for the heat though, rather than the light. Fleas sense out heat to find bodies to feed on.
You don't need the light. I use flat Styrofoam plates with the diluted dish detergent in four or five areas. Use smelly detergent so your dog won't drink it or put it under a chair. Vacuum daily for three days.
Thank you, I'm doing it right now! I've spent so many money trying to get rid of these and they keep biting me, very hard to get rid of these ones 😢thanks again
Man thank you so much for this tip we are having a real problem with fleas at the moment after looking after a friend's dog now my two dogs have them cheers pal 🙏👍✌🥳
@@ToolswithSoAlzdo you have any advice for natural flea repellant actually on the dog? seems crazy to me to use salt on your carpet but then put chemicals all kver your dog 😫 also what about things like couches!? omg i get so paranoid and stressed kver stuff like this 😢
Also wash clothes with regular washingpowder and salt in washing the mashine, then tumble dry the clothes with half a deciliter 24% white vinegar and after you shower put coconut oil on your body and hair .. also your pets
Multiple approaches work..make sure you vacuum sweep frequently. Also buy the 2 cheapest essential oils Rosemary and Eucalyptus if you have dogs eucalyptus is fine but not for cats. Dilute them in coconut oil and rub them in your dog paws and neck, flease just falling out. I Also put peppermint which was a bad idea on another dog and it was shaking and cold I guess that's good if you're in Texas or somewhere hot. The fleas staying off that dog also and wouldn't go anywhere near him the dog ended up not getting infested. Cinnamon and clove oils burn so you don't want to use those. also shave your dog. The life flea cycle and the eggs is a long process so you've got to attack the problem from multiple angles. Heating in the dryer is the only approach that really works for eggs and fleas but it's hard to throw your carpet in the dryer
I'm on day 3 with 4 red cross salt (with IODINE) boxes spread all over... Day 1 included vacuuming alot and then the salt treatment -adult fleas in action... YIKES Day 3 no adults but the younger ones are out with a few hellos from them here and there but def not like 6 days ago where it was like a night club in hea! does this equate to me getting to their liniage?
Suggestion for a 2nd channel - DIYtipsWithSoalz? Let’s keep this channel strictly focused on power tools/hand tools! I’m kidding of course, Robert. That’s a great a DIY tip for household use, especially for all those dealing with fleas or have dealt with them 👊👍
The cat lady neighbors cats always come onto my yard, then I get them in my house. I've been using pine cleaner in a spray bottle but will start using salt and maybe borax as suggested below. Only other thing I do is wear white socks and go directly to the bath tub so I don't spread them to other parts of the house. Thanks for the tips.
🆘 How do I help with cat fleas to go asap. How long will it take to go . How do I know it’s fully gone . I haven’t seen moving fleas but black dots that I spray which instantly turns into blood dots ! Im suffering with anxiety. I do Regular washing machine wash constant on 60 degree wash 5 times a day . I’ve just order a new hoover , will I need to order a steamer . I’ve been boiling the kettle every minute, Everyday. to mop and use on damp cloth to use behind sofas. Unfortunately it’s fabric and I also have carpet so I cleaning for some time. Exhausted to this point. I’ve spent £180 on natural pet safety home sprays bedding powders Etc so far over a month. Flea shampooed him but there still blood every time I wash the cat . I’m in stress 🆘
Well, to get them out of your carpets and off your furniture is easy. Go buy a wet/dry vacuum, put a little water inside, and vacuum everything. As for the cat itself, you'll likely need to go to the vet and have it given a flea dip.
Just a simple bath with any mild soap kills all the fleas on a pet. (Fleas drown easy.) Bathe pet, vacuum, lay a lot of salt on carpets & furniture. Cool house down as much as possible, fleas love heat. Wash pet blankets & beds often.👍
Thank you for sharing, this so helpfull for me! My house is infested by cat fleas recently (i believe my garden also, this is haunt me so bad. I am frustating to get rid of it. I vacuum all over the place (floor, bcs i dont have carpets), i laundry my fabrics in high temp. to kill them, i also use mosquito repellent, it works but still, can't count on them they breed so fast. I'm crying everytime i find out 2 or 3 fleas jumped in the floor near my bed, i can't sleep all night😭 Others says to spread the Diatomaceous Earth, but i worry if its affect the natural environtment. Some use the mixing salt and baking soda. And glad this only salt. How to apply this? Do i have to spread the salt entire house and entire bed surfaces? Help, i need an advice😢😢
@@ToolswithSoAlz it made my rug damp though on a hardwood floor where there isn't a leak seemed to be any carpeted surface has gone damp after the salt. Will it dry eventually?
@@ms.rolltide256you can feed this to your cats as well for worms but he's referring to applying it on your carpet. Be sure to do proper research for the dosages if you Intend on them digesting it.
Thank you sir. I have three dogs and no Fleas. Poor people tend to figure out cost effective ways of getting by in life and I was very poor growing up.
@@ToolswithSoAlz I just need to know is it effective to.use on kids bed incase there's anything there it's the first time my dog has ever had fleas and I'm freaking out. I'm currently using a spray I got from the vet for the home but you can't use it on human beds. I haven't seen any fleas about my home just on my dog but I've no clue where he got them and all I know is it was sometime this month.
Got to get rid of fleas got a HUGE problem after getting a dog now it’s gone to the point where I’m getting bit every day! I’m scared of typhus and if you’re reading this you should be too! It can be a deadly disease if not treated immediately! Some guy in my area got bit by ONE flea and lost is legs and a arm one week the next week he passed away from it Rest In Peace to him 🕊️ anyways thanks for the advice !!!
Sadly my vacuum doesn't have a bag. It just dump it the "dust container"(dust goes everywhere, it's disgusting). Will this still work? I can't afford a new vacuum right now.
@@tylermckillop408 there are other people on RU-vid that go into detail with this on how to use them properly to other natural unconventional ways of keeping bugs at Bay I'm not an expert Rob over here is no expert we can use the stuff but when do expert explain what to do with it as a no one was said that's it you want any more information do research
@@jasminepetal3972 you heard it's pretty strong It's literally powder It's like crush up seashells or something. They probably shouldn't be huffing it but besides that I mean I would not recommend you eat the stuff but you could eat the stuff
Bad for you to breathe it in.. I've tried it and the dust was constantly moving around in the air. It goes everywhere and made my throat and lungs feel sore
The way I’m itching right now .omg guys help I feel like screaming. I need to watch a video about fleas but the PHOBIAAAAAA IS BAD . I FEEL BUMPS ALL OVER MY BODY a horrible tingling feeling how do you get rid of this feeling
They are much easier. Just use a good wet dry vac and put salt in the bag. Throw the bag outside after you vacuum every inch and make sure to treat all of the furniture and drapes.
You wouldn't need to use salt. Grab a wet dry vac, put a little bit of water inside, and vacuum everything from the floor to the furniture and even the drapes.
