My brother rescued a cat that had fleas and by the time we realized our house was infested. It took over a year of having an exterminator treat monthly to completely get rid of them. Everyday at lunch I would come home and mop my wood floor with bleach to try and kill them. I threw out all my non essentials. It was the worst year of my life. I legit have ptsd from it.
If it took a year than you should've used a different pest company. Not only should it be on the pest company but on how well you prepped for them to service. Not alot of companies work with integrity.
@@rsar5678 it was orkin. We cleared the whole house of anything that wasn’t necessary and moves furniture for them to have access to all the baseboards. All they did was spray the baseboards in every room
@@Feniansoul that's ashame and im sorry you went through that. Treating the baseboards will not eliminate fleas. They was suppose to treat the cracks and crevices of the floor with NyGaurd Plus. The baseboards would be as preventive measures.
@@rsar5678 Yeah, definitely a bad extermination company. Going through a very tiny (thank goodness) flea problem right now and was recommended that I wash and steam and vacuum all linens and fabrics, spray (with furniture safe chemicals) and steam and vacuum the coaches, then vacuum all floors, spray every single nook and crevice and baseboard and doorframe (even the windowsills). It should kill any stray adult fleas and eggs. But to also repeat with the spraying every week for about a month in case a stray egg hatches and to continue vacuuming everyday. Also, to spray along the perimeter of the house and deep clean my car to be on the safe side. It's really extreme but I can't have anyone come out to professionally treat the place right now and I'm extremely paranoid (I freak over everything) so he gave me a list of every possible method cause he recognized that I was willing to do it thoroughly for my own peace of mind. Just doing washing and heat drying (and bagging what I don't need right now) and spraying with what I have on hand until the heavy duty stuff arrives
This sucks. I already have celiac disease and severe anemia. And my sisters 3 dogs brought this on the family. Few things feel this unpleasant. These bites are so intense i cant sleep. I thought i had a celiac rash but i got so ill flu like symptoms but pretty extreme. I woke up this morning to fleas right on my stool next to where i sleep. I ran the towel they were on outside. 5 hours later pulled towel out on tunk of my car snd they were still crawling on towel. They do more than bite and cause itching. They can make you feel very ill for a long time if your immune system is compromised. Be careful
Tip: when ur doing a flea job get a plate and put water and dishsoap in there and instead of flicking the fleas put them in there is slippery so they cant escape
I feel you we worked in a very very nice home one time that the tenants just ruined and it was roach infested . I’ve never seen anything like it . They fogged the place and we went in like a week later and their were dead roaches everywhere . And babies still out crawling on the walls and ceilings . Easily killed 20 every 2 hours . Anyways we left all our tool boxes in the trucks and took off hand tools as we needed . Didn’t take off any drop clothes . We were not about to bring them eggs or babies home with us . And we put on the throw away paint suits . It was that bad . Someone came to shampoo the carpets and when they were done they said if y’all want a shampooer it’s y’all’s , cause it’s staying here . Better believe I washed it out with a hose at that house threw in in a black trash bag and inside another black trash bag let it sit outside in the back yard for about 3 weeks. lol prob over kill but them dang things are tough to kill .
I had a job in high school cleaning apartments after people moved out. There was an apartment that was super infested. If you bent over and put your palm on the carpet for a few seconds you’d have 10 fleas on your arm.
Had some friends years ago with their backyard infested with them one day went back there to get water from the hose in shorts and HELLA was clinging to me.. I think they even let their dog on a chain back their as well. Horrible
@@netorosas9497Try boric acid too, dusted around carpet & floors, then vacuum. Do it again in couple of weeks. Heard salt may help too so I use salt with borateem & baking soda dusted on carpets. It's not harmful to humans but may harm small pets so vacuum thoroughly. Also, everytime you vacuum the vibrations cause flea cocoons to hatch so vacuum then dust with the borateem then vacuum thourouhly again
I am really worried about you using these products and it affecting you when you are 20 years older. Either Parkinson’s or cancer. Would hate for any of that to happen to you, you are a sweetheart!

When I treat I drop closes and shoes outside head to shower. After I use a grabber to pick up clothes putting in my washer already running with HOT water. It's an agitator so they are gone when done. I leave my shoes out in the sun and they hate sun and heat. So far never a transfer of fleas..
Just took in a neglected cat that was invested which the owner failed to let me know and now ive been cleaning, vaccuming, steam cleaning, carpet cleaning, and washing everything. Its a nightmare. And i see this is common in the comments. Should be able to charge the owners/ breeders for the work, money, and stress put in to this 😒
Same here. Been working my butt off to get rid of fleas... We been living out of trash bags, because after I wash a load it goes straight in a bag! Awful hard to get rid of. Never seen anything like it! We have tried everything known to man. Only thing that really gets them is vaccuming and steam cleaning. ALOT, ALOT of Work... Still have them.

You need to get a bowl of water, once it’s full squirt BLUE Dawn dish soap (only blue Dawn) in and stir it lightly w your finger. So the water is tinted blue w no bubbles. Then put one of those desk lamps over it at night. If the rest of the room is dark they’ll hop toward the light and fall into the bowl. Dawn dissolves their shell instantly and they die. But it doesn’t do anything for eggs and pupae. Pupae can lay in cracks in the floor etc for months!!! They’ll hatch when they feel footsteps. You need to spray the house and get your pets on CapStar meds. No Hartz or grocery store stuff- it can kill pets. The vet sells it for $25. Also vacuuming daily kills them BUT you gotta empty the vacuum outside away from the house or else they just jump right back out/eggs hatch inside vacuum and they come right out. If your vacuum has a canister- empty it outside and then rinse it w Dawn dish soap & hot water. I recently just had someone bring 10+ fleas into my house and I don’t even have pets 😡 I was so mad lol but I got rid of them instantly. Washed all my clothes and put them from the dryer right into sealed totes, then treated my house and threw away anything I didn’t need. The fleas will hide out on the sides of furniture, hampers, etc 😡 The Vet also sells Virbac Knockout spray for $20 and that shit works wonders
All bedding, pillows, clothes etc need to be washed and dried on hot. So I would just throw put any clothes or bedding you dont use. Then buy the flea treatment stuff, follow the directions, it says how much you need for size of the house. Spray the carpet couches beds. Any pets have to be treated, call your vet they should sell you the DIY treatment without appointment. And I would treat everything again like a week or 2 later. I know it sucks but you can get rid of them. Good luck. Oh and you can pick them up from long grass especially if you work outside so it might be that you are getting rid of them but then bringing them back in, if you work outside or walk in long grass then wash your clothes when you get home.
This is 100 percent true . My dog had fleas before I treated her and the only way I knew she did was when I went outside to feed her on the back patio and fleas would be on my white Nike socks but nowhere else on me

Omg the neighbors had cats and they would come in our yard infest our dogs and one year our garage too I had on all white pants tucked in white socks and I walked in the garage screamed when I looked down and it was like a horror film my white socks looked like I had black patterns crawling up my socks it was so many fleas. All I know is I flew out of the garage with no pants or socks on.
I did this with completely wood and linoleum floors along with bed bug spray (works the same) and also to my car. It definitely works along with bagging your clothes and laundry on high heat and having no pets. Then do a nightlight with a bowl of soapy water for each room and then it’s gone in less than a month.
You have to soak the floor on a constant water and soap, because they can't fly as I've learned, they just jump real high. So flicking one may cause him to jump again on you in an instant. No other spray helped but water and soap... You keep your floor wet for a week and half... Gone! It helps to clean your pet as well, cause the bite do hurt them and make them bleed as they will scratch a lot. Washing your clothes often as well, cause believe it or not they may stay and follow you to work😅😅 some nuisance. But for me, water and soap is the solution... More 🫧 you need to see the buble, when it's gone, soak the floor again. Ah about nests, there isn't but if you let it be they will remain all over the place and grow exponentially by the dozen, cause they eat their own shxt or blood or anything fitting for them. I am now flea free 😊 soo glad to help

I don't think he would have let me treat him so I shwood him away. The flees are all over my house not in great number currently but I kill 5-6 daily and I'm worried about their reproduction rate 😅. I don't know if I need to constantly put my floor in soapy water for 10 days, Will mopping and washing it with disinfectant liquid work? As I read somewhere that they are repelled by strong smells. What does the product label require for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)? I believe you should also be wearing eye protection and a long sleeve shirt. In addition, when applying a product like that, you should start at the furthest point of the room, and walk backwards with slower left-to-right sweeping motions so you’re minimizing pesticide exposure on yourself. Unfortunately, I believe that was not a “professional” demonstration of how to apply a pesticide.

I lived with fleas for 8 years. Moved three times. Never got rid of them. It’s impossible to explain how many were actually inside the house. But imagine the absolute worst infestation of fleas you’ve ever seen and double it then triple it. That was the lowest count that we had at one time that I can remember. I would come in from school and within 7 seconds have about 400 on my legs. This video triggered me haha
I giving you 2 tips (oly helps if you cant spray cuz you dont have it) 1 if a flea starts crawling on you the grab it and crumble it for 10-15 sec or drown them 2 if the flea is in your bed then punch the bed on a small area wait aroun 30sec and puncb another little area and they either jump out or crawl out (I have a bed with fur sheet and things like pillow etc. )And i punched it for like 20 min and i got around 10 fleas and my mother got around 5-6 i drowned them cuz i like to see that they drown
Ok why no carts on your mask, why only have it half setup? What about that stuff in your eyes too, you just walked through a cloud with your eyes open?! Seams like an arm and run type would be a little safer for you while doing it year after year 🤷🏻♂️
I remember walking into my basement with White Socks, literally 10 seconds later my socks were covered in black fleas lol. They're no joke but I ran upstairs and got a bug bomb and it worked like a charm.
That house needs to be sealed shut after tossing about 20 of those press the top, toss like a grenade bug bombs, and run, sealing as you run. Done this before.
You didn't mention the pupae .. the hardest stage to kill .. you should protect your skin and eyes .. young and sorry, but not so bright .. living g dangerously there if that is your job

I had a rental once and the renters let’s the fleas get so bad our legs were covered just walking in the house. It happened within a matter of weeks as I was at the property often.
They make flea bombs. It’s a can (aerosol) that you place in a room and let the can empty in the room, while you get out! It’s poison you’re spraying! The mask is okay, but, you should NOT be inside the house spraying. You set the flea bomb off, and leave! Come back in 4 hours! I hope you made it out
But how when you live in apt building? I'm so scared to set one off where it might go into vents upstairs to my friends apt or the one next to me. They have cats same as me. I don't want to kill them or my friends. But I also dont want to tell anyone about the fleas either. Its getting bad due to 3 cats that been coming around. My fault for feeding them. I already spent money on cat drops and pills along with spay and traps. Just not the bombs which I really want to do. Tonight I'm gonna put DW power down on the floors and keep my cats in my bedroom then next day switch rooms. I got no clue what else to do. My apt is very small so it wouldn't be too much work I would think for a flea bomb to work
I bought this light and sticker thing when we had a doggo and her babes trapped under our house that caused a pretty bad lawn and yard flea infestation. We couldn’t go anywhere without a bunch hitching a ride.
A few years ago every time I would drive to work I would see this cat up in this tree and after two or three days I finally stopped and got out when it was raining grabbed a towel that I had sitting in my car climbed up this small tree and grabbed the cat put it in my car took it home dried it off and kept it in our laundry room overnight cut to a few weeks later the entire house was infested with fleas and in the laundry room especially as soon as you walked in you would immediately feel fleas jumping onto your legs and biting you. It took about a month after that cat was gone to get rid of the fleas.
I remember at my old house I went to play outside and I was walking in the grass and I saw a bunch of fleas on me so I ran to my front yard and even more was on me so I tried to open the door but it was locked so I ran to the backyard and went to the back door and opened it I yeah it was scary.
