A few corrections and pointers! If you are not playing on legendary then the first deal does not work as on legendary you are classified as a major threat which is actually worth 8.0 in coercion since it takes how threatening you are and turn it into diplomatic points. Another thing is the female bandit on turn 2. She turns out to be Yan Baihu's wife and a spy so you can either still hire her and get some use out of her assignment before dumping her or you can opt to go for recruitment on turn 4. The same principle of spy avoidance should be observed (willing to spy, grudge, etc) as it turns out bandits can spy from turn 1 even on low faction rank. Lastly, for those of you who do not want to play on legendary but still want the silk. I recommend to follow the similar idea of building out your economy first but then just point your first full stack at Ma Teng and Han Sui. Sure you will lose trustworthiness since the game gives you a non-aggression on turn 1, but given that you start with -39 points anyways it is not going to hurt you too much more. P.S. for players who are struggling with looters in the fringes of the map, there is nothing really you can do about it. You need a reserve army and need to be ready to lose land and retake. It is a big annoyance but it is something you can't really avoid after the introduction of the new faction council system (I mean people complained about how edge of the map was too safe so be careful what you wish for lol)
So my question is, I am using MTU cause why not.... And i actualy hate Dong Zhuo BUT i love his wife and "daughter" Dong Peisan, Dong Bai. The problem is I am one of those people who want to have a Female Faction leader apart from Zhurong and Zheng (mainly cause I got so bored of them) Therefore if I want Dong Peisan to be the leader would this work with slight adjustments? including the death by duel cause that little prick has been winning the fights and doesnt want to die... P.S. I dont know if it has to do with the fact I am female and got sick of playing as male characters or if I am just this wierd (also i stopped playing on any dificulty harder than normal in campain. I only set Battle dificulty to hard anymore if i feel its way too ridiculus mainly cause i dont have the time or the energy to overthink stuff anymore XD)
Liu Biao, not because I wanna play him, but rather because I feel like the new governance / imperial favor penalty make an already challenging campaign even more annoying...

Big Dong hype! Xiliang Cav is so expensive, but holding out and gobbling up the Western factions till you can steamroll the upstart Coalition members is always super fun. Also fun to snipe Hulao Pass early from Liu Dai and Park Lu Bu there for dynasty warriors vibes.
Yuan Shao next please! His faction got so much love from devs finally. Ye Vanguard units are just plain cool for going full crossbow stacks. Just like good old Liu Chong.
Good video as always Trivia! Cao Cao being an early target really should be for everyone at this point. His schemes can't be countered like spies at all, and they can really destroy your strategy, especially with his Retinue upkeep scheme actually possibly getting you to go into debt and forcing you to delete armies to even stay afloat! here's hoping CA makes the schemes less common or come with a counter as the updates come along.
Giving imperial favor for high intimidation made me instantly want to play Dong Zhuo but yeah I think theyll add minus imperial favor for destroying territories lol. great guide! That blood sacrifice blew my mind, honestly
The diplomatic action is not cohesion ;) When pronouncing coercion/coerce, drop the h. Awesome guide! Maybe farm rebels at passes till emperor becomes of age, bad public order there doesn't hurt pop growth. Looking forward to the new western Shu/Liu faction guide.
Great stuff as usual. Also, I have another thing to report. :P I'm playing as Liu Bei on the new start date. It's the harvest of 200 and I've just recieved an event... "Your advisor approaches you with an opportunity to the south. "No doubt *Sun Quan* will look upon you favourably should you choose to deal with Chen Deng..." The wording of this leads me to believe that there was meant to be a scripted event for Sun Ce's death but it's not working(or it's rare). Either that or it's a mistake in the writing.

Very detailed guide. I did have to reload the campaign and tweak it, because Lu Bu somehow betrayed me right after the changes in the court. I also had to pay Ma Teng a tremendous amount of money compared to this ( between 3 and 4K+ ), which varies on each starts but, very far from the modest 160 per turn. In any case, it gives a good direction.
I just finished a dong zhuo campaign. Throughout the game I tried to be a good boi, didn't execute anyone or raze towns. In the end I restored the emperor back on to his throne and then I executed myself (dong zhuo). Suddenly many factions were extremely happy with me and I confederated like half the map 😂
Tips for everyone who is new and who wants to know how to beat dong zhuo , play cao cao and beat yuan shu early. Dong zhuo 's stack and li jue's stack always attack nanyang town. I got it by that way
Yuan Shu going down first and rushing down Cao Cao, sounds like my Liu Chong game plan ;P Unfortunetly in my 1.7 playthrough my alliance mate Liu Bei (that big-eared villain) vassalized him before I coul finish him off...that's what you get when you count on relatives :p
the most northen land and the most western land will spam looters every 4 turns full stack from faction council.... witch can be annoying however they might not come to the city but the cammandries"hence just guarding with 1 army is not possible" so once ur expanding those become a nightmare in 1.7' faction council can target 1-enemies 2-nieghbours 3-people in the edge of the map(even if friendly,allies,vassals) so when securing the enitre north west and getting all the horseys discount you will get hit by looter in an insane manner

BRO TRY IT ITS A NIGHTMARE THIS PATCH!
I found this interesting game called land of war the beginning they thus dropped their trailer. You play as a Polish soldier against the Germans in ww2 thought you might like it .
i think go ahead and get in three coercions at the start. access to better loot at the start than if you use it down the road. the lower public order helps spawn rebels and the corruption is a slice of a small pie.

you can give the sky piercer to niu fu to make him unbreakable, in the event that you can't get a duel you can just have him stand under a tower until he's dead
Somehow managed to get Sun Ce as turncoat. Now i have the furiest cav in game with xiliang and other unique generals adding damage for shock cav. That’s crazy
Hey Serious Trivia, 1:09:34 are you ever look to report to CA about the error in Dong Zhuo's family tree he never had a Daughter name Dong Li he had at least some adopted sons by time of 190 and at least one birth son born from 171 and died in 190 he was 19 by this time and finally Dong Bai in which he had a high fondness of her. Why not ask them to replace Dong Li with Dong Bai and I understand she should not be on his his family tree because she is the granddaughter of him but they can just simply add a generic son to Dong Zhuo as her father that way she can be on his family tree and use the same way like Dong Li to be married off to gain a legendary character and she is 12 by this time.
I mean his exact family tree is a mystery. Like from Niu Fu we know he has at least one daughter. Dong Bai is probably fictional. And since they will all die in 192 I don’t think the game needs to spend too much energy to make irrelevant characters
In my campaigns, Yuan Shu sailed straight for the Trade Port, completely ignoring the gate pass. I was unprepared for this and lost it due to the settlement garrison being at half strength since upgrading.
In the game, I actually coerced all food sources from the faction that I am about to kill and since they will be under pressure, I then vassalise and annex
Hello Trivia I have a very wierd/bug experience while playing Ma Teng. I wanted to restore the Han empire as a governor, but once I got to King, Emperor Xie token disappears from the map, and the option to give the throne to Emporer Xie is gone. There spawn 3 emperor seats, but none of them is Emperor Xie. I hope you can report it to CA so that we all can have an experience in restoring the Han as the loyal governor :)))
@Serious Trivia Attention!!!!! the sentinel we first recruited (bandit) was just extracted as a spy by the enemy in my campaign :( :( :( She wasn't unhappy (47) she was low hp ( though I think that was irrelevant) Happened Harvest 193 just when I was on to eliminating Yuan Shus faction.
She's actually married to Yan Baihu!!! I realised when I hovered her portrait over the Grand Commandant position I wonder if I give her title + Grand Commandant if she will be so happy that she might ditch him from spying.... Or what other option do we have? I have a screenshot showing her in court before I appoint Grand Commandant while checking also satisfaction etc. She has shaman item too >:( If there is nothing to do I might strip her and bring my faithful ol buddy Zhang Liao to my doom stack
Thank you for opening up with Dong Zhuo! Looking forward to more amazing videos from you. Got to say, you definitely don't get enough exposure for how amazing your work is. It's relaxing to listen to your relaxing presentation when especially backed by the historical knowledge and thorough but easy to understand explanations. I am a history nerd but never really knew much about the Chinese history. This game was amazing due to the art design and mechanics but I couldn't quite get into it until I watched the Three Kingdoms TV show - which was the bomb. The game became increasingly interesting and I am at over 1.1k hours and climbing 😂 I know you don't really utilize mods and try to min-max game features but have you thought about the Make Them Unique mod? A lot of bland characters got reworked with beautiful art, 3D models, and some even with unique weapons. Can't play without it now haha and it definitely increases my attachment to those characters. You should give it a go!!! Thanks again for all the content!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!
funny thing about Li Ru - I got him in my Cao Cao play through today as a turncoat, and instead of cowardly he had brilliant! I’m wondering if this might mean that the AI can use the faction council mission to change bad traits
wen janquin is a spy. i believe she is married to yan baihu. kept a close eye on satisfaction throughout. she absconded with much loot in my playthrough after we beat up yuan shu a bit.
Your approaches is impressive, and i literally forgot to abuse rebellion mechanic to increase Dong Zhuo's unique resource. I want to try it but kinda have some problems in early game stage on my previous run. 1. Dong Zhuo starting location had so many gates that increased his upkeep 2. Yuan Shu's aggresiveness to attack Luo Yang's County 3. Ma Teng and Han Sui's sudden alliances 4. Gong Du I still in dilemma whether i should hold Chang An and those gates or just conquer Ma Teng and Han Sui and then start fresh from there? Thank you so much, i hate Dong Zhuo but i want to play the bad guy.
- Don't actually take Luoyang city, focus your defences on around Luoyang trade port by having a full stack of army in ambush stance, make sure the garrisoned troops could reinforce you when ambush triggered... watch how mountain of enemy corpses pile up one after another XD - NEVER expand to the east. Try to conquer the entire northwest region before you ascend the throne; Shuofang, Jincheng, Wudu, Chang'an and Hanzhong could help you to get enormous amount of money to build your forces. although the food is a bit scarce, but i have never really had a major issue with this - raze commanderies when necessary, i personally find this really useful to slowdown your enemy's advance... although the diplomatic penalty kinda hurt but hey you're the cruel tyrant, everyone will hate you anyway - abuse Lu Bu, make him work to the bone - iirc Ma Teng and Gong Du can't coexist... either one of them will get destroyed, all you need to do is wait for opportunity before sacking them both
@@ardiessadida5146 I took a little different approach in my Dong Zhuo's campaign. I destroyed small faction in west such as Han Sui, Ma Teng and Gong du. I gave up in Luo Yang for a while, for some reason The Pass gave me a little time to conquer west before faction in the east try to attack me. Then i took the coward move, cooperate with Liu Bao to cease fire with all Faction for a while, then i prepare myself to war with Bandits and Yuan Shao. After that it's pretty easy xD I actually never use raze commanderies in my campaign, probably gonna try it later in another campaign
@@raynaldoandhika6836 all is fair in love and war buddy :) i mean there are too many conflicts in central China + all the warlords wants your head, your best decision is stay away some tips regarding raze: since i love to expand south to riverland, i always make sure to raze nearest territory from my gateway of defense, like Luoyang/Xindu... unless you're roleplaying Dong Zhuo whole heartedly, don't use it too often

No it’s because of difficulty. On legendary every factions starts by viewing you as a major threat and coercion is based on how threatening you are so here it is actually easier on legendary in terms of getting good coercion’s
lowest because sabre infantry exists but since we don't have the reform to unlock sabre thus by comparison jian swordguard would be the best choice here. It only got a F rank because Sabre does everything Jian does better and cheaper.
rip my wenjuan jin (sentinel) i recruited, got extracted by the enemy right after I was marching towards yuan shu..... :(( . I even promoted her to grand tutor before she was even extracted by enemy
it's not that he thinks you're respectable, it's that coercion works better with a lower respect rating, so you get an extra few points if you're treacherous - there's also nothing wrong with stealing everyones ancillaries on turn 1 with dong zhuo with regular payment promises then immediately breaking them cause you're already treacherous and if we're razing shit we aren't gonna get respected.
Great playbook strategy as usual. But if I may make a tiny bit of suggestion,rather than seeing off Dong Min just to save some bit of salary I usually set him up with Han Sui's daughter and sent him there for some little bit of diplomatic points due to the family relation,after the trade deal is set. Might prove useful to prevent him having any idea of encroaching while the bulk of the army focusing on the central plain. Save you some little bit of nuisance,so to speak. Oh and do Gongsun Zan 190 next perhaps? For no particular reason,I just have a soft spot for him 😝

I was wondering does the farm rebellion hurt population too much? I know population had less of an effect on release but now doesn't it effected economy and mustering/replenishment? I remember doing the rebellion farming in MOH but released all my places were hitting 0 in population I know you can counter it with buildings, and now faction council but wondering if there some sort of balance between farming rebellions and population.
So the maximum of population damage you can have from public order is -12K per county. With the new faction council proposals and a good administer it is something that is pretty easy to overcome actually
I’ve had several attempts at replicating this and the first coerce against Ma Teng to score the Silk Trader seems to only be worth 18.5 which makes the deal impossible. Even with offering more money per turn than the silk trader actually gives you and issuing an ultimatum on top. Anyone else found this and understand why it might be so different?

I see, so something that’s designed to make the game harder in legendary by reducing your diplomacy is actually a benefit to Dong Zhuo when coercing because he’s more threatening. I like it! I disagree with your assesment that executing is a bad option most of the time. The reduction in satisfaction is negligable after early game cause there are a lot of ways to raise and maintain it. On the other hand razing and rebuilding cities is very expensive plus you can't guarantee that you'll have battles/razes available at hand when you need them, executions are much more reliable, so you can stay at max and do a lot of diplomatic deals.
I mean the new morale changes is really about fatigue. Night battle really never changed. Now basically if you have night battle (-15), make the enemy exhaust (-12), fire (-10), arrows (-4), and a roar (-18), there is no chance for the enemy and that is not factoring in any damage or scare but the biggest change is the -12 from exhaustion which means if you catch an enemy army on march (they start at tired) they are doomed
Yes that is true night battle did do that be for i just feel chain routing adds to all that power especially in the early game with a bunch of militia oh and I noticed since I've been playing the new patch the AI started not recruiting as many archers

Does han sui release vassels in this patch as han suis daughter had a faction in my game and his son had one in your cao cao lets play. Liu cong took over after they died when not on family tree. I think han sui will be flc for northern expansion so maybe he has a vassel mechanic and its doing it now for some reason.
