This is really well done! It's very hard to find videos on Greece that give this kind of detail. What is great is how you show everything step by step. It's a huge help and rare to find on RU-vid. Please keep it up! Thanks.

Very useful video, especially for the ones (like me) who are getting lost even inside the building of the airport😂 just think how difficult we think it is to find the right transportation to reach our destination! keep up the good work guys, can't wait for the next one! 😁

No it isn't. There's always several options, trains, busses, taxis, metro... just ask someone who works at the airport and they'll tell you.

I had some special experiences in Athens, I would like share several important tips.🤣 1. Be VERY CAREFUL of stealing especially pickpocketing when you take the metro M3 from the airport to city center. Their commen way is to make the door half open when you get off, kinda push you, distract you and steal things from you pockets or bags.🙄 2. When eating outside the restaurant (also walking in crowded places), put your bags in front of your chest. Do not leave your mobile phone or important stuff alone in public area even for seconds.😑 Two key words to describe theft in Athens, pickpocketing and distraction.😮‍💨 3. I dont know if the price changes, the taxi would cost about 35-40 euro from the airport to city center, which is actually a good deal when you have more than 2 people. It is fast, SAFE and comfortable. Uber does exist in Athens, but locals use Beat (local version of uber), they are the same, either uber or beat, a taxi would come. Other than the transport from the airport to city center, I would highly recommend Beat all the way in Athens, taxi fare is budget-friendly.🤗 I wish everyone could avoid bad things and have a pleasant visit in Athens. 🥰

Will you suggest taking bus from the airport as many people are saying it maybe safer than the metro?
@monospanta
@monospanta 8 месяцев назад
@@nitinkumar29 I think if you have a basic understanding of the pickpocketing situation in Athens (including the m3 metro thing), then I think it's fine to take the buses and metro and you dont need to worry too much, just keep in mind to keep your valuable things/ your bag in front of your chest, and I would recommended you not to keep valuable things in your coat/pant pockets, and that's pretty much it. I myself have been "traumatized" by theft/pickpockting, and I always keep one hand on the zipper of my bag on the subway or in crowded areas in Athens, 😅. In terms of getting to the city center, it takes about 40 minutes by metro and 1 hour by bus (I once got off a plane at 11:30pm, the Athens airport was still busy, the bus was full of people, so I couldn't get a seat and stood for an hour😂), so the metro is still more convenient. The above is suitable for a solo traveler or a group that uses public transportation tickets. Additionally, taking a taxi is also a choice. I took a taxi two years ago, at that time, it costed me 38 euro. According to google"Now the taxi fare is flat, at 40€ during the day (Athens Airport to City Center by Taxi).The taxi fare is flat, at 40€/42$ during the daytime (05:00 am - 00:00 am) and 55€/58$ during the night shift)" If you have 3 or more people, you could consider taking a taxi. It's safer, more comfortable and more convenient, cuz the tourist destinations that 99% would visit are in city center, you can easily reach them just by walking.

@@monospanta I concluded my Athens trip few days ago and I must say that it is possible to travel with metro if you are careful. I put all valuable in the middle of my backpack and left nothing in my pockets. I put the backpack on the luggage which was in front of me so for the whole time i could see them. At exit at Syntama city center, I didn't show that i had to exit till the last moment so those thief or pickpocket could plan something for me. At the last moment i storm out of the door. The environment inside metro is very tense though as all people were looking at each other out of suspicion i think and near the City center, the metro become fully packed. Whatever the time of the day, I metro was full around city center. During my time in Athens and traveling around city, I didn't carry backpack and put my purse and mobile in front pocket with my hands on or in my pockets, need to be extra careful and it ruins the experience for sure. Taxi now charges around 40€~55€ from airport to city center, metro charges 9€ (3 day ticket cost only 20€) and bus charges 5.5€. I think, metro ticket is best value for money if you are little careful. I didn't like the travel inside metro station as each station has many platforms and we have to walk a lot inside those metro station if you have to change few station. Über is another way to travel inside the city for any odd location or if your hotel/hostel is located little far from the metro station. City is nice with much history and food options, people are nice. If they can concentrate in improving law and order situation especially in the public transport, the experience of all, locals and tourists will be great.
@nikaelli9675
@nikaelli9675 8 месяцев назад
@@nitinkumar29yeah I fully agree. The pickpocketing and distraction theft is the only thing that annoys me when visiting Athens because I sometimes couldn’t immerse myself in the trip.😅 Once my bag was stolen, my travel documents were in it and I was a foreign student living in Europe so I had to be stuck in Athens about three weeks applying for new travel documents , that ruined my trip and my semester 😢. So I know the importance of anti theft in Athens.

Thank you for that info, mate. Very useful 👍🏻 I'm wondering if you can impart some more information. I arrive in Athens at 22.20 from Istanbul so what would be my best option? I'm guessing I won't make the last metro train at 23.30 so it's going to have to be the bus? Which one is best to get to Larissa/Athens Central? And how long would it take at that hour? It'll be just after midnight, I'm guessing, before I get off the plane, get through customs etc.

You should have referenced the suburban railway in more detail (Proastiakos) It gives you the opportunity to get directly from the airport to Pireas port and also to Athens Central Railway station where you can change trains to Larisa, Lamia, Thessaloniki and Chalkida The fares are the same as the metro and you use the same ticket
