As someone who works within the sponsorship industry, your comments are spot on. It is totally about what you offer and how you can help brands achieve their objectives. Never fall in to the trap of telling a brand what they can do to help you i.e i need money, i need stuff. Class comments pal
Hey matt, thanks so much dude i wish i watched this video earlier. My dream is to get sponsored by redbull and a bike brand for my hopeful slopestyle carrier. Love your videos man and have a good one

This video is so helpful and beneficial thanks so much for sharing this video. Congratulations on how far you have come it’s amazing! Good luck to everyone else I hope this gives you a boost of confidence and some luck! (I know I have an agario profile picture and a stupid name haha 😂 but I’m a mountain bike rider and love the community and like I said good luck to everyone!
@@MattJones I race dirt bikes and I am trying to get some sponsors. I have been trying my hardest and pushing the limits. What shall I do next, I will try my best.
Tip for younger riders, don’t worry about those small brand sponsorships and wait until you really feel like you’re up there with your riding, and keep in mind that local bike shops are the most attainable and easily the best sponsors
@@charliedeschambault2599 just be confortable with the jump and work your way up, for exable the first time you will remove your hand a little bit after 2trys idk you like remove it more and you will work your way up😁
Hey Matt, thanks for this video. I have only been mountain biking for around 6 months, but I wanted to try to get sponsored. I reached out to a pedal brand and I asked if I can do a video on their pedals. They said of course, I didn’t ask for anything free but after I made the video they decided to send me some free pedals! Thank you so much!
I've been involved with action sports for 17 yrs now and this is the first time I've ever heard what I think is legitament advice from a professional rider that I really enjoy watching. Keep it up matt. Great job
Matt. That was a fantastic, mature, and inspirational message you have sent out. I hope you keep doing what your doing and influencing the young people coming into the sport with your fantastic attitude.👊
You Said that it should be making Sense, but (i know, red Bull is my Dream Sponsor) why is Red Bull Sponsoring mtb Riders? Very helpful Video, thank you so much!
Diego Caverzasi is sponsored by a winery and a company that specialises in making zippers. I wouldn't call that in industry exactly, but I guess it's support either way
Max _ yeah not impossible to get sponsored by people not into mtb i have a necklace sponsor which is pretty fucking sick a couple mates are sponsored by a snack compony
This video could not have come at a better time for me personally. I watched this Saturday and it motivated me like crazy. I've been off the bike (i am indeed a roadie lol) since sept 26 when I had knee surgery #2 of my life. Well that one was a failure and i just had knee surgery #3 on nov 14 and will be off the bike until sometime in January. I started contacting companies telling my story and telling them my unique idea for documenting and getting back into race shape. I'm currently in further talks with 3 of the companies and couldn't be happier. Just wanted to say thanks Matt! Cause honest to God without u making this video, i never would have had the ba**s to ask companies for support as I'm not that type of person to just randomly ask lol but i have a unique story/plan and was able to put value in my proposal for myself and the company as well. Keeping my fingers crossed as this would be an amazing, amazing opportunity. Thanks again!!!!
Right I need help with something... I'm 14, I am really passionate about mtb and I make mtb films and other films... Anyway I am looking for a sponsorship or 2 and I don't have many subscribers or followers on my Instagram so can someone tell me how about getting sponsors when I'm in this industry. Its quite different but not to different so I'm a tad confused on what to do. Cheers

I think it's quite valuable that you're speaking about being sponsered. In my optinion it often seems a bit mysterious and hardly anybody understands what it's about. thanks dude, peace :-)
Bro I want to do karting, I want to be a racer. And you know, it's really expensive. So I can't really start myself. I have to have some sponsors to pay me trainings or something like that... What should I do then bro?
I am a promoter, content creator, social media manager/influencer! Should be no problem lol I'm wanting hotel/motel sponsors for my singer songwriters! and free places to stay! This is a great informative video, thanks for sharing

I’m at 4:57. What If I get sponsored by let’s just say trek bc I want to ride road biking. If I got sponsored could I like show photos of the products and tell people to go check it out. Would that be a good sponsorship. Oh and I’m like around 11-13(not saying exact). Is that a good age to get a sponsor
My dream is to be where you are. Money is a huge barrier for me right now, but as soon as i can get a real job, i will finally get an upgrade from my $500 hardtail 😅
@Matt Jones do you have to be a very skillful rider as I am 12 I love Mountain biking and I am fairly good at mountain biking I started when I was 9 but I am also very good at video and photo editing so I feel I would be very good in advertising

Matt thanks for very useful video... Is just beatiful to tell honest things that will help me and all of the people that watched this video... realy thanks.
Plenty of genuinely useful advice in this vlog. Sponsorship is a two-way street, even if it seems a little lob-sided early on. Always keep the ego on the down-low with deals until you're "actually" a big cheese. Obviously being mindful of who's getting what out of any deal (you wouldn't ride Rampage just for a set of grips!). I assume a "responsible adult" brokered the deal you got at age 12, and things grew from that? Local bike shops can be great at sponsoring local talent, even if it's just for race fees. As you say, it's a way in, and then you nurture it. You've obviously had good advice along the way Matt and want to pass it forward. Good on ya :)
Hey Matt great vid, just thinking could you do a video on riding your compound on a full sus because I own a full sus and feel like it’s much harder to do big dirt jumps on a full sus.
