How to get your Texas License to Carry (LTC/CHL)?

It’s easy. All that is required is proficiency. September 1 2021 Texas will be a Constitutional carry state and no license is required. The Constitution gave ALL Americans the right to carry long ago. The tyrannical government took this right along with many, many others! Save your $$ and wait for 9/1 if you can.

You need 6 months of Texas residency to get a resident license or you can get a non-resident license.

Receiving your License to Carry is a separate certification than being a Level III Security Guard.

Whole different class. Worse part have to redo fingerprints

It’s best because it helps prove that you’re safe to the state in any situation you should need to use your gun. An extra safety blanket

You technically don't need the license. However, there are places you can't carry with or without the license. There are several reasons why you would still want to get your license. Especially if and when approached by officers.

The answer, of course, depends on the situation and the crime. In the state of Texas, you will not be given an LTC if you have been convicted of a class A or B misdemeanor within the last 5 years. This means, if you have a DWI (a class B misdemeanor) less than 5 years ago, you will not be allowed to obtain your LTC.

Hi Jillian! You do not need a LTC to purchase a firearm or have a firearm inside your home or vehicle, therefore you can come to and from the range with your firearm without taking a LTC course.

You could always own a handgun without a license only now you don’t need a license to CARRY a handgun, but there’s some exceptions, schools, bars etc.

Hi there, LTC's only apply to handguns. You are not required to have a license to carry a long gun (rifle or shotgun.)

If you were in the military you can use a military score card if within 10 years

Pretty sure it’s because some people that suffer from ptsd will not be able to function and process their surroundings to the level needed to responsibly handle a loaded firearm when their PTSD is triggered.

I believe a handgun must be concealed either on a belt holster or you can even buy safes that go in your car/ glovebox. A long rifle on like a rack is pretty ok ive heard even just in the backseat I would think, the laws on carrying a long rifle are very liberal. You can keep a handgun in your car (concealed) and carry it to and from your house or car (or boat, the law treats a boat and a car much the same in this regard). If you are going to do this you cannot carry the handgun anywhere public or private (unless its your own private property) you must keep the handgun locked in your car concealed. I am not a lawyer Im going to my LTC class this weekend so thats what im pretty sure is the law as a layman understand. And what I'm definitely not saying is open carry a long gun for protection when you take your boat out or to 7 eleven or something, but keeping a firearm locked in your glovebox without a license is legal by the "texas motorist safety act" so look that up. Also I'm assuming you live in texas because this is the law in texas i dont know about anywhere else again this is not the law this is a youtube comment you should google this. but hey howdy from texas have a nice day.

@Ben C No definitely have it on your person that's not illegal at all in fact police want it to be on your person in a shoulder or belt holster... A gun in a glovebox is no good you can't get to it fast enough if someone runs up and yanks you out of your car at a redlight you want that on you not possibly driving away with the criminal
