I see it. A large hall with my brothers and sisters around me, all of our folk , drinking from curved horns, and telling tales of the Gods. You represent our folk very well , keep doing good work!
@@africanlatinochinaman6894 o African Latino Chinaman tell me from what great country do you come that America is a role play shithole and the Netherlands is a cum dump of Europe I guess that Germany is the aggressive flaw house and Belgium the alcoholic that Denmark is fake and Finland just the piss place with its lakes that the middle East is just a big sandbox and Austria is just some hills. (For everybody I may have offended I respect every country and don't really think this I'm sorry if I offended you.) O and for the record Holland is not even a country it is a part of the Netherlands.
Believe it or not Brother, Odin has guided me to you. You and your teachings. I can see Odin speak through you. That is something to be celebrated. It is quite the honor. Thank you for providing your wisdom and knowledge to us!
I'm new norse pagan and Gods guided me to you because they know you are going to do GREAT things for them (GODS) and us who want to follow this path. Hail Óđinn!
Hello, I’m new to deities. I grew up Christian but don’t practice that religion or any other currently. I hope to learn a lot from your channel to help me on my journey of finding my gods and or goddesses. Thank you for making these videos!
you probably get this a lot, but your channel here makes me so incredibly happy. you’re such a jolly guy and even though i didn’t start in this path initially, your cheeriness and helpful nature have been a great help in aiding me as i wander across practices. thank you, and i wish you all the best.
I’m fairly new to becoming an active pagan. I suppose I have been hesitant about “worshipping” the Gods. But I suppose this manner of offering or similar manners conducted outdoors could be used to contact with any spirit. I’ve been having issues with spirituality too. Coming from a belief that the world is black and white to accepting Animism it’s taking some time. I hope I can eventually connect with spirits. I purchased some votives to use as I cannot stand the odor of burning sage haha, and have really been dragging my feet on using those. I make artisan bread for a living, perhaps I should make some as an outdoors offering. Thanks for the video!
R Kos I’m not sure which Gods connect with me. I gravitate towards Thor, Odin and Freyja. But I can’t really say I’ve had any experiences yet with them. Not a big deal to me if I have to wait awhile. I’m a Pagan for my autonomy and for my perspective on the world. Not just the spiritual experience.
There's loads of herbs for cleansing and purification of a space. Try a different one. Edit: any bitter aromatic generally works. For consecration something a little sweet.
I have been conflicted for so long about how to "properly" set up my altar. I have sent myself into desparate panic about it several times until today. Today, it has snowed here in Texas. One of the only 2 times I have ever seen it snow in this part of Texas, and on the night before the new moon. I have recently been brought into the faith by the gods, and Skadi in particular, and today I could feel her presence and wanted once again to try to perfect my altar. As I sat, frustrated with myself, I was drawn to your channel and this video in particular. You have helped me so much today, and I know the gods have guided me here. Thank you for everything you do
Looks like Berkano, Laguz and Jera. Growth, Renewal and Peace vibes. at least from what ive researched. interesting stuff! Im doing My first Blot this weekend with a friend. really looking forward to it! SKOL!
The warm glow from the candle, your voice, the feeling of the moment from the offering, it’s like I am there with you feeling the love of the Gods flow through me, I am so grateful for your channel and all you do as I am starting my path towards Norse Paganism.
"This bone is from a tomahawk steak I gave to Odin" is a sentence I never thought I'd ever hear back during my time as a Christian. I should also point out that this channel has been my biggest inspiration in my walk with the gods.
I'm not the only person with constant cat interruptions in my videos. lol Thank you for sharing this. I always leave my offerings in my yard. I have an ash tree that it special to me in my back yard. Often I will leave fruit of veggies that my children didn't quite finish. I am also very fond of burning incense for offerings. Good look with your Ostara gathering!
Something i would recommend is cleansing your space each time you give an offering. Any energies that are unpleasant can be made neutral by the sage he burned in the video.
Lioness Dragon-Heart so in my experience, cleaning your space is quite a subjective opinion. My best friend and seasoned, respected, Wiccan practitioner cleanses her space be it with words or sage, but I myself like many educated I know prefer not to, as sometimes it’s the benevolent forces that can help us achieve what we want. For me personally, it’s more important to be respectful of the ancestors, spirits or Gods you summon into your home, and I find in return they respect me back. For beginners though, cleaning your space is a good way of just protecting yourself from more than you are capable of handling definitely :)
Pretty new to paganism and still doing a lot of exploration but I came across your videos recently and they are such a good, day to day, down to Earth example of bringing the gods into daily life! Thank you for everything that you have done to teach and share. I love learning more about the history and reality of this ancient way of being and you do such a great job with research. May the gods watch over you.
Im just starting off on this path and I swear every time I have a question or something Im curious about your videos pop up. They've been a huge help to me. Thank you!
Watched before but watching again. I'd love to have a one on one conversation with you I know it's not easily attained. But you and two others are my guide in being a Norse Pagan. Been making progress since last we chat. Have a garden Freya has blessed.. but yes my main altar is in my room and I do my best to keep it separate. Anyway message me whenever thanks again for being a guru/guide
May Bragi bless you in preparation for your gathering and I personally hope it goes really well. I only discovered your videos the other day and I was so glad to see such an honest, refreshing, and authentic approach to practical Norse paganism. Keep up the amazing work brother!
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! It’s given me an idea on how to start my own. I won’t be there for the gathering this time but I hope to in the future. I know it will be amazing!
I currently started a journey to find my path here on earth. The videos that I have watch so far have been so intriguing. Everytime you have spoke to the gods I have gotten goosebumps all over. I feel like I belong here and that I'm ready to truly start my spiritual journey. Thank you!
Super random question, apologies if you’ve ever mentioned this in another video-but have you ever heard of people giving offerings to Nidhogg?? I had a vision of him a few weeks ago and have felt compelled to make an offering ever since, but I’m not sure if that’s something taboo or not and I can’t find much info online...
I have stumbled upon your videos while doing some research into Norse paganism for my own beliefs. I then have watched all your videos from the start to today, in fact I had just watched the last one to catch up the refreshed the page to find this new one. I want to thank you for putting out some great videos to inspire me and help me along the way of understanding my new religion, nay, my new way of life.
HI! I prayed to Freya today! It’s was really cool I offered her an apple Because some kids at school Have been bullying me so I seemed wisdom in how to go upon This.
Thank you for this video!!!! It's super super informative for a beginner such as myself But white sage is a closed part of indigenous practice isn't it? (Unless that's not white sage and I'm just a whole dummy)
I have a funny question. If I offered for example chocolate to a deity and it's still good, is it okay to simply eat it myself afterwards instead of throwing it away?
This video is old and you’re probably already aware of this but for the people who aren’t; When using sage, make sure youre NOT using white sage (salvia apiana). That is a plant sacred to many native communities and tribes within North America and the tribes that do use it ask that people who aren’t native not use it because of the history of white colonizers criminalizing the use of the plant and the rites it’s involved in (alongside other practises.) If you’re a pagan practising in North America, be mindful of the history our (or people who look like our) people have and the pain our ancestors caused, and be mindful of the spirits who were here long before our oldest ancestors were. Same goes for pouring any alcoholic offerings onto the earth, while it is traditional in many pagan practises to do so (particularly Celtic/gaelic pagans), native people ask that we not do so as it poisons their land. As North American pagans, decolonizing our practise is important.
is it alright if i set up a temporary shrine for my deity (say on top of my book shelf) before i get their own table? i'm kind of limited as to where i can buy at the moment because of covid 19 but i don't want to wait to set things up. i'm sure they'd understand if i'm moving their things to an even more special place but i wanted to check. thank you!
I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm a witch who is trying to work with deities of different pantheons, Skadi being one of the lesser-known deities, and this video is very helpful! I live in a house smack dab in the middle of a big city, so not much room for outdoor offerings or sacred spaces (less because of space and more because of possible theft). Thanks for the tips!
I grew up in a christian household (and country) but I never felt connected to it. Recently I've found the existence of this religion and it spoke to me and I really think the Gods guided me to you. Seeing you speak to Bragi gave chills all over my body and I'll take that as a sign to continue my journey.
@@cwootwoot9025 yeah, I know here too. There are probably 50< religious houses in my city (including a cathedral, churches and several chapels). Catholic, evangelical, etc... They're really everywhere. Just from a kilometer radius from my house, (~0.62 miles) there's at least 5.
This may be from a year ago but this video was so helpful. Your offering and prayer at the end was both moving and so heartfelt. Thank you The Wisdom of Odin, this channel has been a wonderful discovery for me personally. So glad to be joining you all from Australia 👋 😀
Im from nothern germany, my family is christian on paper. I recently watched Vikings and i was... I felt like the gods spoke to me, i felt a deep connection to Frigg. I now learn a lot about norse paganism now. Its right for me - and while watching your Videos i feel like i have always been but never knew before that this has a name. I have altars since childhood, one for the sea and one for the woods. Its fascinating for me that I and also my parents have done a lot to connect with the gods without knowing them. I am a mother myself now and maybe thats because i am feeling so deeply connected with Frigg. Thank you for your work here, it makes me finding my way home
Nice shrine bro. I made a few shrines for the gods of my own. I made them with my own hands. I do pyrography and i made a few works of art to connect to my gods. I like to keep the sacred works of art on my walls in my living room and in my bed room.
Odin has been reaching out to me ,and my friend maid me realise, and now I am on his path and he has brought me to you're teachings,I am very greatful, thank you
What are the 3 runes that stayed? Also, the other runes just vanished? They're not anywhere in your house? Please, I would love to know these answers..Thank you. 🙏🏼
Ehwaz, Jera, and Berkana. And yeah I was outside giving an offering. I had a bag of my runes. And I drew these three, then I turned around and the bag was gone and I never found it again!
@@TheWisdomOfOdin I'm a bit of a novice at reading the runes, but I'd suggest the message is something along the lines of: "Grow more in creating connections between people before it is the right time to do this." Or, "it will be the right time to do this when you've grown more and made the connections to the right people." Something like that.
@@TheWisdomOfOdin Hmm. Are there any ravens in your neighborhood? Perhaps Huginn and Muninn have visited you! Take heart, I've found that whatever gets lost we get back one way or another.
I only just found your channel a few days ago, but I really appreciate how real you are. You don't take yourself too seriously, while sharing with us serious, sacred information. You've been a big help in re-invigorating my spiritual practice, and encouraging me to interact and communicate with my Gods. Thank you for sharing so much with us! Skål!
We have the same tattoo on the same arm... I have thor hammer on my neck (Draw by me on the back of my neck, tattooed by an artist. Huginn an Muninn on the top of my breast/shoulders.
I don't understand where the idea of actually throwing out the food/drink offered comes from. I am not as well-read as many here, but from what I can find, in the old days, they would only ritually "give" the food/drink, then consume it themselves, as in "sharing a feast with the gods". I can't find anything about them actually burning or throwing away food, because "it's for the gods". It seems like a strange, modern construct to me.
Something that you said that I liked is when you were talking about different placements of shrines and such, you mentioned that it is all apart of your own personal journey. I am very new to Norse paganism and I stumbled upon this gem. I think that for me, because I know this will be nothing short of an ordeal, I want to build my area myself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the act of building something for the gods to connect with them is, in and of itself, a sacrifice and an offering. Almost like saying: "this is me and what I have to offer" in a simple table or base.
That's what I like about you! Ya take it serious and have such a passion for it! Yet ya joke and have humor about it! I know many ppl who are like these die hard vikings who take everything DEAD SERIOUS
As a newcomer to this faith I want to thank you. This video was very informative. Could you perhaps do a video going more in depth on cleansing your space and the objects you will use in that space?
I am new to the Norse path , I am an eclectic witch but feel drawn to Viking things and really want to incuprat Norse paganism in to my path. where do I start?
i loved this video! my only thing is, I wouldn't use white sage unless its ethically sourced or given to me by a native American! please be cautious of where you get your white sage from everyone. i don't use white sage at all, but rosemary bundles are a great alternative
I found you while looking for beginning steps. In the beginning of the video when you said the alter being yours and about your journey, I looked over to my alter and had an overwhelming feeling out of nowhere. I had tears come to my eyes and felt something so surreal. Thank you for your teachings and bringing me closer to a faith I've always felt but am finally returning to. ❤
Is it okay to use non alcoholic wine? Currently pregnant and 20 years old..I've been doing a bit of research and this is a question I've never gotten answered thank you!
i’ve been raised in a christian environment from at school i was forced to go to church and to worship their fake god, it wasn’t until i was maybe 15 when i left school i got into the norse pagan path and i found out it has so much i would do in my normal life such as spend time in nature which i do constantly, when i was getting into it i remember i was sitting at a bus stop reading a book of odin (i’m still learning) and of the corner of my eye i noticed a crow watching me, but i noticed this crow is like no other crow i’ve seen, i was reading of huginn and munnin and i began to wonder if it was a raven, weeks later i was at the top of a mountain (i do nature walks and hill walking and mountain climbs) i noticed again another raven watching me i know not of what this means of anyone has a slight explanation or anything please tell me
Those of us working in European traditions should also remember that we can GROW OUR OWN SAGE! :D Cause white sage is native to the western US, not europe, and is highly threatened by over harvesting from white folks. So, we should def be growing kitchen sage and bundling it ourselves for burning. Rosemary and a number of other herbs were also traditionally used for cleansing, so def look into your personal traditions and see what other herbs you can try for smoke cleansings. I've been making my own sage bundles for years now and it's actually become a wonderful, mindful part of my regular practice in the summer.
I'm really new to all of this, my family is mostly Christian even if the majority of them don't practice, and I am an atheist I think. I didn't see any signs of the gods and godesses yet, BUT I had a strange feeling while watching the TV show Viking or playing AC valhalla, so here I am, ready to learn. Because this religion appealed me more than any philosophy, monotheist religion or whatever. My first question will be : can I drink, eat or use my offering if it's possible? Why? Because I feel like if my offering to Odin (for exemple) is the best beer I could find, if I feel that he accepted my offering, I think that it could be a waste to just "throw it" outside, maybe I'm wrong, but if someone can help, I'd be glad 😁
Halsa brother just alittle advice when u work up your path on your own personal journey start using term when u get to that point "Heathren",Not Norse Pagan it allows u to be more towards our ways and not getting mixed in with other pagans which don't follow our ways. Thanks brother Wassail to u
What I did was take an offering sigils ashes, mixed with green candlewax and rub it onto the bottom of my dish. (I also cleansed the dish but that goes without saying) I then stated what place the dish was supposed to be in, and what it was for. I then placed the dish onto the area, and put the offering in the dish while saying " This food is meant specifically for the deity" in my case it was Apollo, "Apollo. I hope you like my offering! Thank you!" and went back to happily doing schoolwork. Offering things strangely makes me happy!
Beautiful. It actually felt, as you were truly creating 'temenos' - that special place dedicated to deep interchange, with full trust, and without judgement. Great to be able to rediscover these old 'places' of reverence within us, be it dedicated to sth we believe, or, maybe, some day also to each other) Many blessings, so genuine, so true🎉
I like the old religion, eventhough I've moved on with my later ancestors, it still speaks to me. Let me help you pull it out of the world of larp. If I would need to offer something to Odin, I would find the vehicle that reaches Odin. Geri, Freki, Munin and Hugin. So, instead of taking your offerings inside, take them outside, unless your house is visited by wolves and ravens. Now, if say you would do something as ill advised as to leave anything out for Loki, don't worry, you don't know how Loki does things, at times he doesn't know what he's doing himself. If he wants it, he'll take it. You don't need a particularly special place, all you need is a small area to leave it, which is unlikely to be violated be a third party. The ancestors clearly had metaphysical ideas concerning their gods, which included ships and burials. They were sending things across realms. Burying and floating things seems quite fitting, maybe even burning. Also, everyone thinks they're going to Valhal, so they think they should hang with Odin, but Freya rules Volkvang and Hel rules Hel.... Most of you are going to Hel, if you get to go anywhere (and that's not a scary Christian warning 😂), so make your peace with your likely allies. The problem you're going to run in to is that it's not easy to die with honour, unless you move to the rough side of town like I did, and you still can't go around carrying a weapon in case it's a good day to die. You're going to grow grey hair and live a long life
Berkana, Ehwaz, and Jera. I feel the gods are saying they have made a true friend in you, and specifically Freya and Nerthus (the great mother) have been guiding your path to deeper spirituality and compassion.
I was looking up videos about paganism and I came across this RU-vid channel I felt a pull the gods was telling me if I want more info come to this guy good work
I dont have the space (a safe place anyways) to have a full alter, so i have a shadow box i have hanging up filled with my objects, one day i hope to have a space i can have them completely laid out and not have to worry about them getting destroyed 💕
I have a few personal questions about this. I am new to the religion and I mean though I have a 1,000 questions and I could give you my phone number or Facebook but I would love to discuss some of the questions I have with you.
I just found your channel and this video and I am upset. How can such a good video have so little likes? My guy, you deserve so much more! I am relatively new to paganism, but I am starving for simplistic and great videos like this one. It's also really lovely to finally hear a males voice, since most videos covering this topic are made by females. You seem to be a really fine person. I will definitely stop by your channel next time!
I am glad you enjoy my videos! This page is only 9 months old, and it is seeing a lot of growth. I can only imagine what it will be like in a years time :)
I know if my lady likes it or not by if it either disappears or dries out, ot if it molds or goes off. I have my altar in place I see daily, so it's easy for me. If I set up offering of drink, either water or local berry wine, it's quite easy to see if it goes off, or it simply dries away to empty glass. Usually inside a week. But if she doesn't want it, even in case of water, it crusts over or you can see it going off or attracts fruit flies. Same with food - if she likes it, the things tend to drie up completely no matter what I put there, but the next time it might just mold and of course you replace it then. For example she clearly hates fake flowers - they fall off the shelf like nobody's business no matter how hard I fix them in vase or around the candle, they always end up on the floor when I return to the room. At the same time, be at as small natural bloom or branch as it is and nothing happens to that. Really like your videos, it's been so long since I've comnected to any pagan ways around me, will find my way to your discord soon.
New Asatru here from Colorado. Just wanted to give you thanks! I've always been interested in Norse Paganism, even as a child growing up in a Baptist household as Mythology has always spoken to my soul. And I am so glad there is someone like you out there that is creating this content. It is super helpful to me as someone that is just starting their journey. Gods watch over you! Skål!
Well I offered some shitty flowers Aphrodite I don’t know if she likes it and I didn’t clean my altar first I just watched your video and I was just like flowers for Aphrodite and put it there so I’ll tell you in my life becomes a mess I don’t even know if she knows I’m here I don’t even know if she knows my existence and I gave some half drunk and Coke to my spirit guides
I'm very new to being a norse pegan and I don't really have a dedicated outdoor space to make offerings. What I do have is a very Christian family so it would be best to have a small private space in my room. Is there any information you could give me that would help me to properly make offerings with my situation
I mean I’m not religious or anything, I have no idea how I got here.. but I talk to candles and they talk back and stuff.. it’s how I find lost things all the time, I just ask the candle and it guides me… so anyone know what I might be talking to, if it even is anything?
I finally have my altar space constructed. It's on the bar basically in the center of my apartment. I've found if it's out of the way, I tend to forget it in a sort of "out of sight out of mind," sort of way. Unfortunately that means it is also directly below the smoke detector so I'll need to creat an altar space outside, perhaps in the words behind the complex, though not too far as It would be rude to invade the home if the coyotes who mercifully did not attack that one night I accidentally stumbled upon them.
I am brand new to Norse paganism. I have been wanting to give an offering to bragi and it's been on my mind for awhile so this must be a sign from them as to how I can go about doing this. Thank you!
5:06 I want to make it clear that I don't mean this in an offensive or derogatory way at all, but just the image in my mind of Odin, an ancient god, the all father to all gods, comes to you and says "You know what dude, you should make an Instagram account" is just hilarious to me.
Hi, I believe our father Odin has given me guidance to come across your channel. I am very very new to all of this and looking to learn more. I was Catholic but I recently learned a lot from that religion and I now don't take anything to do with it. I have a question about the "stake bone" was this given as a full raw stake and left for a week or was the meat cut or eaten before the bone was left The reason I ask is that I have also heard that having the bowl or shrine marked with blood as an offer to the gods is a way the alter/shrine should be set up I understand many people may have a way of doing things just trying to create my own basic shrine for the gods
I pass out the food if offer to the homeless. There are parks and such around here but there are also people starving. I may not have much but always judt enough to get by so from time to time, I like to give something to those without. New moons and full moons.
Thank you for this very useful video, Jacob! And for sharing your offering to Bragi with us. I thought that you and the rest of your viewers might find the type of offering I recently made to Freya interesting, so I figured I would share it here, as it may give them some ideas. Since I am a published author and also now studying calligraphy, I figured I would make a truly special offering for Freya: I wrote a short story entirely with the Elder Futhark runes, and I did it the way our ancestors used to have to do it, with a quill pen that I dipped in an inkwell and wrote on a piece of old-style parchment. The plot of the story symbolized in metaphor what I was asking from Freya. I gave a focused blessing on the parchment containing the story I wrote by hand in runic. I then folded it up, set it aflame by a lit candle on my altar, and let it burn to ashes in my cauldron. While it was burning I recited another blessing to Freya, letting her know that story and the creative energy that went into it was written for her alone and was now being consumed by the sacred flames and sent to Asgard in her honor. After the parchment burned to ashes, I dumped them out in a section right outside my house that has a patch of grass and lilac bushes, as it's the sole little chunk of nature that I have there (I live in a big city far from any woodlands).
