Just wanted to let you know you really gave me the information I needed back in April when our netherland dwarf got diagnosed with EC and the head tilt that came with it. I had to give her penicillin injections and during COVID the vets basically gave us print outs, understandably. So a big huge thank you for this video and what you do on here! PS: it took a month of extensive care and two vet ER stays, but Nibbles has recovered fully and doesn’t seem to notice her head tilt :)

I just gave my cat a penicillin shot. He has pneumonia and we live in a huge desert outback with no vets😭. So I had to resort to getting the exact med you show and you gave me the confidence to inject him. You also gave a dose I felt comfortable with; everything else was so confusing. Thanks for the video! We managed to buy some penicillin before they changed it to prescription only. And now we have a Holland lop buck in need of some! Even though I have a nursing background obviously working with animals is a bit different. This was very informative.

Thank you for sharing this! I Wasn't sure where to inject into a rabbit or what gauge syringes to use. I would suggest that you might want to draw up the amount of air equal to the dose and inject the air into the bottle before drawing up the med so that the pressure inside the bottle remains the same. Otherwise, the pressure will cause it to become more difficult to draw up the medication later.

Very good info. I have a rabbitry and I am so worried about giving a shot. I think your video has made me feel much more secure and informed on just how to treat them. I have new rabbit stock and I really worry about the quarantine period but still those nasty little bugs that need antibiotics just to be sure. Thanks so much.

I responded on a couple others questioning this, but in case you don't see it-- here's my question-- The back of the bottle on Durvet says this Dosage: Penicillin Injectable is administered by the intramuscular route. The product is ready for injection after warming the vial to room temperature and shaking to ensure a uniform suspension. The daily dose of penicillin is 3,000 units per pound of body weight (1mL per 100 lbs body weight). Continue daily treatment until recovery is apparent and for at least one day after symptoms disappear, usually in two to three days. Treatment should not exceed four consecutive days. No more than 10 mL should be injected at any one site. Rotate injection sites for each succeeding treatment.... This would mean that my 10-lbs bunny would get .1cc (Point One cc) dosage-- not One cc... do you need to make a correction?

I'm having a hard time giving my bunny penicillin. The needle goes in but it won't plunge.

So do you do an inject for 3 days in a row and then once a week for 3 weeks? I’ve found so much conflicting information I just want to make sure I do it correctly. Thank you.

My buns have very little puffy area at that point. It just doesn't tent up.

Hello! How many days do I give this? My rabbit got a cat bite on his ear. Also it says to give 1 ml per 100 pounds… is the dosing different for rabbis?

I know this is a total different breed but what about on dogs ? For instance golden retriever? I would say he’s anywhere from 40-50 lbs ,how many ML do I use on on him

Hi, curious if the bottle of pen you got says IM only? I got a bottle expecting to do a sub-q injection but its says IM only....Is there a problem with doing a sub-q injection with this med for my rabbits that you are aware of?

I have to question your dosage, my vial is 1 ml/ 100 lb of body weight, what is the concentration? That would be .1cc/10 lb.

Another reason reason why he might not be reproducing for you is bc he is older in age, at a certain age they stop reproducing. I have a Rabbitry as well it's called Bush Valley Rabbitry I'm in Ohio you can also find me on Facebook by that name as well. I think your Rabbitry is lovely 😊

I have a very antsy uncooperative rabbit who likes to play escape artist and hates being picked up or restrained in any ways. That was fine when he was young and healthy but it seems likely that he's going to need antibiotics shots soon. Any suggestions about how to train him up?

I am trying to give my rabbit penG as prescribed by the vet. I have had issues with the the plunger becoming very difficult to depress, followed by the needle separating from the syringe, and exploding penG all over the room. Do you have any idea why this may be happening or what I should do differently? Thanks!

My bunny has a mass on his chest. I believe it was a botfly that he killed because when we opened it up it was completely hollow inside and has remained open for over a month. There aren't any vets thats know anything about rabbits near me. I was giving him a few shots of penicillin from a local farmer and it looked like it was helping. I ran out and am currently waiting for more to come in. The mass isn't connected to anything but also isn't going away. Ive been keeping it clean with diluted iodine and a syringe. Like flushing it out and it still isn't going down. Do u think it be safe to use a castration band on the base of the mass? Like once I get more antibiotics in. It's not healing and I don't want it becoming septic. Id take him to a vet but again there aren't any within 100 miles to take him to so I am trying to figure out my options
