How To Go From Nothing to a DRILL CAR in ONE HOUR! - Scrap Mechanic Survival Mode #4 

NOTE: When I said you don't need scrap metal, what I meant is that you don't need to go looking for it to farm it. If you kill the haybots you encounter and refine the ones you run into along the way, you'll have enough, so you dont have to go killing haybots for metal!!

Collect udders from sun shake machines and use them as wheels, they work really well

Pro tip: find a island (in my world there is one near the mechanic shop a little way down the coast) make sure you plant your crops in the center so bots can't spawn on the island (mine is a small medium island that has quite a bit of room.) Once that is done you can eventually build a bridge for vehicle access.( I have a draw bridge to keep bots out.) If done right you will not need to deal with raids.

You should take the scrap wheel at the farm area, it also gives you 2 bearings, even if you don't use the wheel

TL;DR: Extra battery is used for weight replacement on first car -.-

Update for the new beacon system: place the first Master Battery in the spaceship. There is a terminal on the opposite wall from where the battery goes. Get another bucket of water and put out the fire in front of the terminal, and then active the terminal. (When Moonbo recorded this, that terminal did not do anything. Now it activates the log, and the beacon management system is part of the log.) When you get to the Mechanic Station, there is another Master Battery in the middle tube next to the station. Be careful, there is a haybot in there with it. This will add maybe a minute to your time, but will give you access to the log and beacons.

Fact: Metal blocks are made out of metal...

A good tip that my friend figured out is to walk backwards while swinging your hammer when fighting haybots. That way you can hit them without taking damage!

Pick up the corn, it’s useful. Place 3 corn down next to a cow, they will eat it and give you milk Milk is a good source of food and water

Tip: When refining resources/bot limbs, you can still use your hotbar as normal allowing you to eat while you wait.

There is a specific direction you go from the crashed ship, as the bird flies, to reach the mechanics shop. I believe what i did was put the ship to my back, and travel passing the starter gardening pondon my right. If you go straight in that general direction, you WILL find the shop. What youtubers arent either noticing nor explaining, is that each new game is completely randomized. Only choice locations, such as the crashed ship, the two buildings near it that this youtuber explained, the packing stations, the warehouses, and the mechanics shop are set in stone, so to speak. Everything else, including OTHER wrecked buildings, is completely randomized. For example, at the mechanics shop on one of my saves, there is bodies of water the exact same short distance on the back and front of the shop. There was barely enough room for the road. On the other that same location had, within minimum draw distance, a warehouse (the corner of, but still) no less then 4 wrecked buildings, a wheat field, and a hill to the shops right, that has 2 of the wrecked buildings, with cotton on the other side. Its like, THE best world spawn, especially if your like me, and forgot that drills were a thing, so all your metal came from hay bot arms. Edit: but in both of my saves, and my younger brothers save, the mechanics shop was located in the same direction, for the same distance, from the crashed ship, in all three saves. So, even if the warehouses and such are randomized, either my scrap mechanic ga,e have some serious mechanics shop location luck, or at the very least those two locations are fixed. Other stuff is randomized. So as far as youtube videos detailing where to find something (such as cotton) they are completely useless, because that is one of the things that are randomized. As for locations, most of those are fixed.

Survival mode is over 2 years old now, let that sink in

Corn can be fed to woks to get milk (3 corn=1 milk) and can be quickly and easily grabbed while enroute to early game locations, this milk has little food value but lots of hydration and its basically free and easy food. Plus getting in the habit of doing this makes it so you will have good habits for once you have a cook bot

that dye can be used to make paint ammo, that ammo is used for the fuel tank, meaning fuel efficiency, that is a loss

OOORR, u can have 5 bearings and have the steering hinge in the middle. Just a thought.

Here's a good tip. At the scrap garage ther are 3 pods. These are perfect for storing item by placing them down since you dont have much storage in the beginning. Use 3, 3 randomly spawns a haybot. You can seal the door by placing blocks just outside or inside the door. Once sealed you can enter through the windows using your lift. Great strat for the beginning.

Moonbo I made a tricycle for my first car because it requires 4 bearings and 3 wheels making it cheaper than a car

This changed the entire survival experience for me

only tip i can think of is farming on a small island rather then mainland as only the green farmbots can swim (keep in mind all types spawn but only the green ones can swim) :P

I started with a glut of chest dropped food and had not spotted the lake (went back in the ship for a scavenge before following the big obvious path of fire and dirt) Later starved to death many a time before finally figuring out the farming mechanism, ark needed irrigation and poop(fertiliser) yet all the places I got seed were land locked. Took n mi e longer than I like to get a bucket, get water, realise that bottled water is useless without a water canon. Built my across farm in the lake edge after quickly getting annoyed by how far the garage was from the water.

When scanning the area for resources and such tap “C” until zoomed out all the way and have FOV max so that you can spot the most things

19:41 I think that craftbot spawner thingy is called a Dispenser Bot.

Something I found super useful at the start, if I wanted to mark a place, I let myself die there, and then left a stack of corn or something of little value in my lootbag.

Behind the bathroom on fire in the ship there are sunshakes placed on the shelf plus fuel on the floor, easy to miss, but quite useful

As someone who just came from Xbox, fresh from Minecraft. Fresh to steam and PC. I almost name worlds new world when I just make a world on scrap mechanic. But thanks for the toutorial!! I messed up so bad in my first survival world I just made a new one and did what u did Edit: (I play steam on my moms old windows 7 work computer that crashes me out of the game probably every time I play😂)

there are a couple other spots in the starting tile, including one with another bucket that are not bad to hit either (usually set up some plants growing while I do a clearing out of the area) before moving on.

Spent my first half hour getting ready to find mechanic station, then an hour fighting and dying to clear the haybots out of the mechanic station.

There is a battery in the middle "pod" by the mechanic station (it also has a haybot) use the battery you get in the begining to power the ship and get the logbook.

He is playing around at night Me as a noob, I barricade my door in the room and store my stuff at night to feel safe lol

Why did you use the ship battery in the mechanic shop when there's another battery in the middle room pod with the robot

You should have used the bearings from the wheelbarrow and the soil from the farming place to take with you

i kinda wish the game tiles where just a *little* more randomized.

No point in saving the battery, the 2nd area has one in the bunker. Takes more time to run up the fort to get the first battery then to just grab the second

Scrap towns are op, I got 11 stacks of wood from one of them, I got super lucky and I think it glitched

That's not always how you find the mechanic shop. It should point you in the right area but Kosmos was not in the same spot. His road hit a dead end and he had to find a different road to follow. It should be off of a road somewhere though

It's the upgrade kits that has really been hurting me, since without a map, I can't reliably go explore far away and get back to the workshop with safe assurance.

There is a master battery in the rooms marked 1 2 and 3 near the mechanics workshop, and its much easier to get -_-

I can understand using the battery and just skipping over doing anything in the first area... i mean that does slow you down.. but seriously the batter helps that much with weight cant you just put ANYTHING heavy there and the issue is solved?

If you turn off Depth of Field, the game becomes a lot less blurry.

Make a car using only 3 wheels, like a trycicle, it's saving resource.

Eveything you need for hunger and thirst is milk and carrots. Its so easy to get it so i have too much of it lol

Also you can pick up soil from the ground now
