I accidentally did the non-fastfall version of this the other day and thought I had something figured out, I knew it could be useful as a form of PC drop. Definitely gonna lab that out so glad I found this video to see you can fastfall

you can also do this with falco shorthop laser gosu drop and have a laser go off stage while grabbing ledge faster than wd back to ledge. gunna start getting clips with it and call it the soopdrop

Yeah other characters have different traction / momentum pretty sure that works with most characters. But they don’t have the same dash sh range like falcon that’s why it’s crazy that you can snap to ledge from center stage

@@ssbmgosu4990 Yeah i figured the center stage bit was the strong bit of this for falcon. For falco, its about the same speed just a few frames faster than buffering a turnaround after the sh laser and wd back to ledge. But requires a specific spacing that is no where near center stage like falcon LOL

Speed wise i'm curious how this compares to sh turnaround laser slide off to grab ledge. I suspect the turnaround laser slideoff is a bit faster but obviously the drawback is that your laser is not going in the useful direction

faster and more consistent to dash dance moonwalk no? you don't need impeccable spacing to execute on it you just need to be able to hit a decent moonwalk upsides to moonwalk is you don't risk accidental SD and you don't commit to a jumpsquat frames or wavedash frames meaning you can instantly tilt out of it or jump to cover higher options The main upside of the landing pivot drop is being able to have a hitbox on the edge before grabbing, definitely worth documenting the technique regardless of whether it's "new" not saying this is a bad technique but skipping over moonwalking seems short sighted

From center stage ? Moonwalk from center stage to grab ledge is slow asf - I can get 10/10 gosu drops nowadays it’s a reupload video. It’s mega consistent

take the exmaple from my video - knee a fox and record fox to insta side b to ledge. I can guarantee you, you wont be able to grab the ledge in time with moonwalk there but maybe I am understanding your comment wrong

Maybe people have done it before (i haven’t seen it), but if u popularize it I’m down for calling it gosu drop. Like ppl were doing ginger nair or magi upairs before they did but they used it so frequently it and to such great effect that it was named after them regardless. Cool tech 👍👍👍

It's just a ledge pivot, people have talked about it for over a decade. It seems a little bit tenuous to name it after yourself but I can see that the shorthop setup is somewhat new. Edit: I've tried posting video links multiple times, but either Gosu is deleting the comments or youtube is auto filtering them. But for instance a falcon named PENZ 12 posted a video of them practicing this exact same setup and referring to it as a ledge pivot. I vote to call it the PENZ 12 drop lol, or simply a ledge pivot.
