If you have linked your zumo xt with the explore app it changes how you show the track, lots of frustration about this "bug" in forums. Here are some details how to turn them on straight from Garmin after linking the explore app: support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=H9mFYH2u4275GZfaNH3lTA
Fantastic! Just bought the Zumo and the relationship between the Zumo and Express and Base Camp = steep learning curve for a couple of days of grinding through all the setup (PC, Express, Helmet Cam, Wi-Fi and on and on).
Great video. I was going crazy watching lots of tutorial videos and trying to understand how to use the tracks and convert them to trips on my Zumo XT. You answered all my questions. Thankyou very much. This was very informative.
Excellent tutorial, the best I have seen. Note that on my new XT Sep 2022 the show on map selection is gone, I think it just assumes everyone will want that because it is no longer on the selection list with color and track width, etc.
I've got a question...waypoints and poi's...how...do...you...make...them...show...up??? This has been a deal breaker for me on the XT. they either don't show up via basecamp or only as flags from Explore. My 680 was so easy...the XT is amazingly difficult if you're trying to have all the info from a 3rd party track show up. Any thoughts?
Great tutorial; thank you. When I convert the tracks to routes, the waypoints do not show up on the route on my Zumo XT. Any suggestions? I am using Sam's TAT files.
Unfortunately I have a MacBook Air.. I cannot import tracks into the Zumo XT from basecamp!,, it is so frustrating I end up screaming “ I hate pimply programmers!”.I even bought a new cable but no- go…
Many thanks!! It taking me sometime but I'm getting the hang of it. Just a few more weeks and I will be off to disappear and hopefully not get lost' LOL!! 1 ? though, The version of basecamp I have will not let me download the maps, I have to keep my Garmin continuously hooked to the laptop to have access to them. I have windows 11 any thoughts? Thanks Again
You're welcome. Yeah, getting the maps on the computer isn't too intuitive.. here ya go. - open up Garmin express with the xt attached to the computer - select the zumo xt on the first screen - the top most box (with manage maps, your software version etc) click on "map details" -click "options" under city navigator - select "install on computer" Good luck and have a great adventure 👍
It can be finicky for sure. I'd suggest making sure you have the same map in Basecamp and on your device.. if that doesn't work, I'd split the track up into a couple tracks, then transfer individually to see where the issue is. Good luck
Hello, and thanks ! I would like to navigate to a begin of a track … I live in a city and if I add a GPX to my Zumo , the track shows only the go Button and I have a straight line to the beginning of the track … how to go to the begin of one track with turn by turn navigation ? Thank you
I'm running two GPS units. XT and the 396. We are riding the CDR next week and I can only display 15 tracks on the map at a time with the 396. There's probably 4 times that many for the entire CDR. Is there a work around to display all the tracks or will I have to basically deselect and reselect "show on map" every night once we setup camp? The Zumo XT is great. Everything automatically fell into place on the map from Mexico to Canada.
You can combine tracks in Basecamp. However, this only makes sense when they are adjacent. If you combine several bypass sections which are not connected then you get a straight line between them which is not pretty. But you could combine all of the main sections into one long one. You may have to upload with reduced point density if the file gets too big.
Hey Michael, just tried to follow along and change the tracks into a route as you showed but it only makes a straight line, it will not follow the tracks. Any idea what I could have done wrong?
That stinks. Hmm, I haven't seen that issue. Here are just a few thoughts: check that Basecamp is setup for motorcycle, make sure you have the same map selected in Basecamp that's on your GPS, if that's doesn't work maybe try to split the track and make two routes, or at least you might see which section the issue is coming from
Yes, when you turn the track on it shows the entire route, so wherever you start, the track will show you. As far as with turn by turn directions, that will be hit or miss, but I wouldn't count on it without going into base camp. Good luck and have fun. ✌️
