How to pop up the front wheel. The secret to riding confidently offroad.

Most adventure bike riders will never progress off-road until they learn to transfer all their weight to the rear of the motorcycle while simultaneously lifting the front wheel. Sounds easy? In this video we'll show you the basic skills of controlling your throttle, as well as weighting the rear of the bike to loft the front wheel across surprise obstacles and rugged terrain.
This video is intended for entertainment purposes only and showcases a professional rider in a controlled environment.

Absolutely loving these basic technique videos, Adam. You've got such a great ability to explain the techniques in an easy-to-understand way (e.g. the ski analogy - genius!). Thanks, and keep 'em coming! Dan (Christchurch, New Zealand).

Oh man, awesome stuff as always, thank you so much for these videos. The more and more I practice and ride offroad, the more I realize that the key to traction is weight transfer and knowing when to load/unload suspension and wheels. Very often when our instinct is to shut the throttle, adding throttle to unload the front is actually the right move and you glide over a pothole that you would otherwise bite into.

Adam, the same thing happened to you when you were riding alongside Toby on the 1190's, i think you were filming the KTM rally and you lost it around a bend on old tyres, you straightened up and lopped it over a log in the scrub. Nicely done, awesome content. Can't wait to see more on the war horse. Cheers mate

Yes mate, you're exactly right - still the gnarliest save to date I've had on a big ADV and would not have come out of it safely if not for that instinctive last-second pop I'm describing in this video!

I've been ADV riding for about 20 years and I love watching these videos. Just listening to something I've learned through experience (often the hard way) explained so perfectly is really satisfying. It's like "yes, that's exactly what it's like!" Also, although I'm still learning new stuff all the time, I used to be more deliberate about honing one particular skill at a time. These videos help me focus on making that a willful activity instead of just going out for a ride.
