I was clean shaven till I was 44 years old. I've had a full beard now for 2 full years and I LOVE IT!! I will never shave it! It really suits me and I love the feel of it and the way it makes me feel. I will die a bearded man now! Why I waited so many years to grow one is beyond me! I love growing it out and I could care less about others opinions... 99 percent love it on me. I appreciate your videos. You have some excellent advice that never occurred to me before! Keep those videos coming and thank you!!!
This video is great, some great advice. I'm 34 and for the first time I've made it past the 3 month period. I've been getting so many comments on how good the beard looks. Support from all my friends, hell even my parents. And it hasn't even been a yeard yet. Great video man. Believe in yourself!
The Beard Baron I'malmost at 3 month (I'm 22 btw), also been getting some good comments, but personally i dont think it looks good, becuase it is a thin beard and a little patchy (the mouth area mostly) should i let it grow more time or give up for a full beard and try other style?
I'm now 22 and growing out my beard. I have the genes for epic facial hair, so I figured I should embrace that. This video was pretty much on the money - positive and negative reactions can make and break a potential beard. I myself noticed that the moment I cleaned it up and made it look deliberate, comments started to improve drastically, and those positive comments are a huge confidence boost.
Just grew my first beard. I wasn't too sure about it at first, but now after about two months, I gotta say I love it. I have no plans to shave it off at all; it's here to stay :-D
This is so true... So many of my beard fails has been due to other peoples opinions. Getting told it doesn't suit me, makes me look messy, makes me look older. But once you get past that month it does get easier. Once everyone is used to it then you can continue growing it in peace. :P
I randomly stumbled across this video and I'm about 6 weeks into my beard. You just saved it's life. I was literally 15 minutes away from shaving it off lol
I have never had much luck with facial hair. It usually comes in patchy and in various shades of browns and reds as well as white due to a slight case of vitiligo. The few times I have attempted to grow out my beard/mustache I'd give up due to the very same self-conscious reasons as stated in this video. My wife recently broke her ankle when we were helping some family move. I am using this as an excuse/explanation for not shaving, as I'm telling people I am not going to shave until her foot is healed out of some kind of odd solidarity. I appreciate the advice given in this video. Hopefully I won't give in to social pressures and shave what little growth I have so far.
Man you look majestic, i can't even imagine your face without a beard, thats what i like about beards, you go from a regular white soccerdad, to a majestic wizard.
I'm at two months and I just realized my potential. People are just now starting to give me negative comments, but it is only fueling my fire and desire
The more beard videos I watch, the more thankful I am for my wife. She is very supportive of my beard and in fact may like it more than I do. Any time I tell her, " honey so and so said I should trim or shave my beard" her response is "are you married to so and so? no? then don't shave it". Boy am I lucky
Growing my beard for the first time. Pretty excited and scared at the same time, specially the mustache. Is really weird, but I'm confident it's gonna improve. Subscribed!
I'm growing my first beard and I'm about 6 months in. I've recently been receiving a lot of social beard hate from my immediate family of all people! Such intense beard hate I've been contemplating shaving it off. I discovered your videos and they have given me the confidence to keep going! Both me and my beard want to thank you for your videos!
I grew my beard out last year into the first of this year. You give the best advice than anyone one I have listen to. YES, trim the parts of the beard that may look untidy. You are not only having pressure from others. (trust me there will be pressure!) Every time you look in the mirror you put pressure on yourself. Make a goal and stick to it. There is the magical moment that you will see yourself and say, "wow, I got a beard". Women can make lots of changes to look different. Men really don't have lots of options for change. Growing a beard is probably the biggest change we can make. So enjoy the ride!
I'm 23 and I grew a solid three month beard last summer. I had some patches on my checks and some baldness under my lower lip on either side of my soul patch, but I have great goatee and moustache genes. I'm excited to say that I'm doing no shave November and those patches have filled in. I'm going to try to grow a yeard. I'll probably fade my sides like you, but I really want to leave the moustache alone and try for an epic moustache. I wanted to thank you for making these great videos. They're a huge source of encouragement and information for young men like myself who are embarking on their first serious beard adventure. Thank you!
I grew two beards last summer. I started around six weeks before my summer break started. After nearly three months of total growth, I trimmed the whole beard down to stubble and immediately regretted it, so I didn't touch it for quite some time. It never got back to where it had been the first time. My checks were too patchy for me to put up with, so I shaved the sides and rocked a pretty massive goatee for awhile. I shaved for November so I could give it another go. It's looking much more promising this go round. I feel like my beard has reached the next level.
Really, really, really well said! I went through all that with my beard, and shaved it off at about 7 weeks. Then, I instantly missed it! So now it's back. It's much easier now as all the comments have been gotten out of the way long ago!!!!!! I guess I have gotten used to it now and would feel naked without it.
Whenever my coworkers kept making fun of me when I first started growing a beard. To keep my confidence going I would tell them my trimmer is broken then everyone would just laugh it off. I did keep it groomed got to the point I could style it the way I want I am no part of the bearded society. Welcome everyone who wants to grow a beard keep your head high. You will get there.
Awesome video. I'm 2 days away from my first month of growing my very first beard. I've almost shaved it several times but this video seriously pumped me up to keep going. Thanks
Great F advice. I'm 21 but I grow rough facial hair in days. For me being so young I was never confident on just letting it grow. From this day on, I won't pick up a razor!
I'm 2 weeks in to my beard with an original goal of AT LEAST 2 months. I just stumbled across this video and have now set a goal of 4 months. I'll definitely be checking out your other videos for ideas, tips and suggestions. Thanks for posting!
i hit 4 months last monday and its amazing. ive been blessed with a beard that grows in the rigth spots. got a full hefty chin coverage. i will change my profile picture to one where you can see it right.
+The Beard Baron what age did your beard start to thicken. furthermore what age were you when you achieved this beard that you have now. I have a beard and im 18, but its quite thin
Second time I'm watching your video, I needed some words of encouragement. I was having a moment of weakness...I'm not going to kill my beard. Thanks, we want more videos! Keep up the great work and great product line!
I've decided to grow out my beard. I'm about one month in but the thing is, All my hair is brown.. And my beard is red. It looks kind of strange and I've gotten some comments about it. Anyways, you've really encouraged me to wait and see what it will eventually look like. A full beard will hopefully look better than the one-month beard I have right now.
Ray Phinkle That's the best part of beards, each one has uniqueness to it. Mine grows in sort of matching my brown hair, but there's patches of red and auburn in it. I think the thing to remember is that not all of us can be a sterile uniform symmetrical product, the little nuances offer character.
***** agreed! In the end it may be beards that unify us, and cross racial barriers. I HAVE a dream that one day, men of all races, economic circumstances, and sizes will stand together in bearded harmony! Lol
I started growing my beard as a new years resolution. Its patchy in places and my moustache doesn't seem to grow that well. Your right, I've never hung on in there and just let it go. I'm going to persevere and hopefully it will fill out more as time goes on. Great video man! Inspirational.
Hey Nick, thanks for watching! A lot of beards and moustaches start off patchy and a lot of the times different areas of the face grow faster than others. By just letting it go you'll get a real feel for what your beard is all about and then be able to make some wise decisions, best of luck!
This has given me the confidence to just go for it. I have always had pretty good facial hair, so hopefully I can grow a strong beard. I get ginger whiskers on my chin, but I think they will darken as the beard develops. I am 2 weeks in and it feels like I have pubic hair on my face but I'm fully committed. Great video, cheers from Scotland Beard Baron.
i decided to grow out my beard this month of October. i have shaved so many times throughout the year, but now I'm really determined to let grow my beard for about four to five or so... this is actually my first time doing this , and thank you for your devise. I'm 22 and i live in Houston, Texas.
this video is awesome man!! i started to grow my beard for the first time in november and after 5 weeks i shaved it off and i regreted that decision..now im 2 months into my beard again and its past that awkward state and every week it looks better and better...looking forward to have an epic beard in a couple of months, keep posting those great vids!!
Bullshit. You have to give it a chance to grow out, if you're constantly shaving, new hair follicles never have a chance to grow. I had terribly patchy beard so I just bit the bullet and let it grow, now it's getting nice and thick with even coverage.
+Doug Anderson That is true. After two weeks without shaving i look the same like right after shaving. I have denser hair on my legs than on my face. Im still 19, so it may change, but in my family most of mans have quite weak and not really appealing facial hair :(
nope, are u live under the rocks all these years ? people now use minoxidil + biotin, my chinese fucked up genetics now can grow thick eyebrows and beards
Wow! I have a long way to go. just hit my 4 day mark lol. I feel really dirty looking. I'm 29 and this is my first time ever growing it out.... Thanks for the video. Very informative and thank you for the advice. Guess I'll go to a barber and ask him to clean it up because I have no idea how... Don't want to line it up all uneven
You're on the path to greatness Abel! Don't be afraid to speak up to the barber if he starts getting to aggressive with your beard and be very clear on what you want him to do. Once he lines it up you can then start maintaining it at home. It's great practice and you'll get better and better at it! All the best!
I'm still in high school, and my school is extremely strict on facial hair so I have never ever ever have been able to get away with facial hair but i'm graduating in 1 month and entering college, but more importantly entering a bearded life. Thank you so much, for this video!!!
I completely agree on the social dynamics aspect. People may throw shade and it will get into your head if you let it. This also applies when you're also growing a mustache for the first time. Everyone's hair is different.
What's funny to me is I'm more of the opposite. I'm more afraid to shave off my beard and deal with self conscious issues of being clean shaven. I've always had facial hair and people know that, so shaving it off is tough for me. Is it necessary to do so? I always trim but I've yet to completely shave down and start from scratch.
Not necessary to shave it off completely and start from scratch. You should do whatever makes you feel most confident going forward and allow the beard to develop from there.
I have had a beard the past half a year but i have been trimming it every week and it has never been long. After watching this I'm not going to trim for the whole summer, going to keep it in good shape and if I don't like it ill shave it. I guarantee I'm going to love it! This is actually exciting, thank you mr. beard baron for giving me the confidence to do it!
This is one of the first Beard Baron videos I watched. I had never grown my beard out past a month or two but after getting into these videos and the lifestyle it becomes infectious. It is such a fun hobby to develop. Now that I've been taking care of my beard and growing and used many products from oils and waxes to shampoos, I can say confidently that this guy has the best products out there. From quality to scent, it is spot on.
The Beard Baron inspired me to grow my beard for the first time. My first few weren’t that nice, and I didn’t properly trim them enough, if at all, but they were a starting point. Now, several years later, I am better at it, and my facial hair continues to improve. I am about three months in, and it is at a really nice stage now. Like the Baron says, it takes time to see your beard potential. It takes time to thicken out, so keep the edges neat, maybe keep it trimmed and extend the trimming length slowly so that it thickens with the length. And if you want to shave the whole thing off, trust me and rather just shave it short, but not all off. Then you can start a new one sometime with a solid head start in density. And of course, buy some products for your beard, preferably the Baron’s.
I'm 32 and just letting my beard grow out for the first time. It's been 4 months now, and my beards had died many deaths before because I could never get passed that awkward stage. Now it's taking form and keeping it for a while longer. If only I had seen the video before, I could have had an epic beard by now :D
About 19 years old and I can't even grow a mustache. There's always that little patch in the middle that doesn't feel like growing. The most I can grow is a very thin neck beard and a small thick tiny patch on my chin. Like I'm honestly worried I'll never be able to grow a beard. :(
I couldn't grow anything of worth until I was about 24-25 years old or so. Give it patience, bud. It'll take patience once you get there, too. It's worth every second.
Really it all just depends on genes in my opinion. I'm a couple weeks away from 13 and I see the mustache and a little bit of chin hair forming. All I know is that it'll take some time
Thanks man. I've been growing a patch on my chin for about a month because it's the most even part, but now I'm growing out the rest because of your inspiring video.
Just wanted to say thank you for your advice on beards. I am in my third week of growing my beard and your videos saved it from being shaved off. Thanks agin and keep the videos coming!
+Fernando Saenz last time i shaved (was aprox 1 year ago) i couldnt recognize myself when i looked in mirror. i hated myself cause of my baby face, fck shaving!
I just shaved my beard of 7 months. I wanted to do so to start from square one and actually give it the TLC it deserves. I know it will come out better than it did the first time.
Hey it's me again ;) I am nearly on Week 3 now and all my female coworkers smile at me now ;) Some are starting to flirt with me :D - Maybe it's just imagination, but 3 weeks before they just looked at me said hi and moved there way. Let's see how long it gets :D
Have been watching your videos for a while now and only just realised I wasn't subscribed to you! Subbed. I am 19 years old and is growing my second beard and I've just reached the 3 month mark. My cheeks are my weakest spot and it's filling in slowly but surely but from the front you can slightly see my jawline on the right side of my cheek. I am using your words to keep encouraging me to grow out a full beard (with tidy trimming to keep it plump) and aim for the 5 month goal to see if my cheeks gain length and fill in more. I am concious about it but I am using all my wit to keep going and try for the yeard.
Grant Wilson Thanks for subscribing Grant! The cheek area is usually the weakest area for most men. It's also one of the last areas to really develop. Best of luck of hitting your 5 month goal! Stay the course!
I've been able to grow a beard since 8th grade... I'm 18 now and have had a full beard, about 9 months length twice. I'm clean shaven now but plan to go all out now. Just wanted to say I enjoy your videos and your tips, and your beard is amazing! :) - Chris
