For the last several years my mom's employer has given her an amaryllis plant, but they never produced a bulb with seed. They would always just shrivel up. Well, a couple years ago I planted some of them in the yard, and this year the Lord blessed me with one that produced several bulbs with seed. After watching your video, I planted them and they're now sprouting... Thanks so much! I'll be emailing you sson!
Your a amaryllis angel. I've got seeds after years of raising this one bulb that spend to a dozen. Now I get seed pod that is full of seeds. Thank you, I am on my way to planting these precious seeds. 😊
I'm a crazy cat lady and also a big Amaryllis fan, there's plenty of crazy cat ladies on RU-vid but this man is a serious crazy cat lady for Amaryllises and we need more of him!
straight to the point and educational...I managed to fertilize my blooming amaryllis and I have my seeds and I will be trying this asap. I am so excited! Thank you kind sir...I'll keep you posted.
My mother recently gave me some seeds from her Amaryllis: I forgot about them and left them in the little baggie on the counter, and they started sprouting! I've got little green shoots now and have moved them into seedling trays.
Thanks for the educational on amaryllis, I have a beautiful one (dark fired red) and last year I was just waiting the right time to harvest the seeds, I wasn't at home when my gardener just chop the whole bulb, that was so painful, but I separated the growing bulbs on the sides and now I have 4 more from the same one, they all are about to break in three more days.
I was given some Amaryliss bulbs that were divided off some plants my Aunt Cecelia has at her home in Niland, CA. I planted them in two pots and placed them outside on my patio. I was rewarded with beautiful blooms that were then pollinated naturally by hummingbirds. Now I have the pods which have cracked opened and after watching this great video, I plan on harvesting the seeds and then planting to see what happens next! Thanks so much for your video. Such a blessing to share with us...
Thank you 🙏 I just harvested many pos just needed to refresh my memory I used to start them but that was thirty something years ago and I remembered correctly that they liked a loamy soil . Again have a lovely day Take care of yourself in this pandemic I pray you and the family stays well!
Just plant the seedlings in a good top soil so that the small bulb and roots are gently covered. Water them often enough to keep the soil slightly moist. After about a month fertilize them with a water soluble fertilizer.
Previously I bring to your notice that I have succeeded germinating two self pollinated seeds. Afterwards I have succeeded germinating few self- and cross pollinated seeds. Thanks.
I am just learning about after care, mine was waxed , had 2 glorious blooms.... now the seeds are here , I want to know how to plant..... what a great flower to grow
congratulations i have some amarillys and they just finished flowering. i am keeping the stem to get seeds. but only a few of the stems have big fat stigma (is that what its called ) didnt know to keep the ones i bought. i threw them away. too bad . didnt see your video until later. i am waiting the one i got. thanks for the video mr. amarillyus
Yes, that is exactly what you need to do, start them now and it will take about four years for your seed to produce a blooming size bulb. By the way, we have a large selection of amaryllis seed -you can order from us through ebay.
Do you continue to soak them throughout the 3 weeks until they germinate? If so, why is it important to use sandy, well draining soil? Sorry I am so ignorant. I have some seeds and am so happy to have found your instructions ! Thanks!
The next time your amaryllis flowers locate the stigma on the blooms when it is errect and dividing into three sections. Place the yellow pollen from the anther on to the stigma. This usually polinates a bloom, inablling it to produce seed. Our ebay store has many varieties of amaryllis seed to purchase.
Hi thanks for the great video! I have got my seedlings from water and transplated them to the soil pots but some of them seem to be going wrong now... The top of some of their small leaves are going dry and yellow-ish. Any idea on what could be causing it? I could post a video/pictures if it helps! Thanks :)
How many years it would take till bulb grows enough to produce flower? I received seeds from "seed exchange", We are in Zone 4. Should I plant them now at the beginning of cold Winter and keep them inside on the window sil or wait till Spring so they can have some natural light outside to get started? Thank you.
When the pods split open they are ready to harvest and then we keep them refrigerated after they dry out. Check out the video on harvesting amaryllis seeds.
Is that full strength or diluted? I have amaryllisseedlings that's been up for several weeks but pretty much been using chamomile tea on them to prevent damping off.
We had an amaryllis at my old house and when we moved my mom took the seeds out, unfortunately it's been about a year and we haven't planted them. Any chances they will sprout? Thanks in advance
I randomly found seed pods one day on my plant and decided to plant 2 seed 2 both sprouts but at that time I don't know it will take that much time to flower?
You probably won't respond as this video is old but I tried the floating seeds in water and 95% of the seed sank to the bottom of the bowl. And only 5 seeds produced plants that I transplanted to soil sand mix
Our red amaryllis had at least 25 flowers this year. We let one seed pod alone and I just harvested the seed. I'm going to try growing them. I was wondering how long for them to make a bulb but I found the information on one of your other videos. Very informative.
